Great tour guide, poor management

Booked a 3pm tour. Had to line up and received tickets for entrance at 3.30 to be told to return at 4.15pm due ticket access Seemed fairly unorganised, would have rated lower if the tour guide wasn’t good. The tour guide knew his knowledge, shame for such poor organising skills from behind the scenes

Not what I expected - Hoards of people

Not what I expected, especially paying for tickets that were already free. Viator did not state or make this clear enough at the time of booking, and was only brought to light post booking the tour. Our tour guide however was very knowledgeable, but it wasn’t ideal having to wait in a queue during 25 degrees and in a fairly large group with a child, and with more people being added to the group on the day. The tour didn’t start at the time specified and instead had to walk away from the monument to queue up for free tickets. The tour guide explained that this was due to it being the first Sunday of the month. But I put this down to Viator not making it clear to customers and even with the booking it states skip the line. So totally false advertisement and should remove that.

Thanks for your review. But . You booked first Sunday monthly minimum waiting in line was normal 20 minutes waiting. Then some people was comes late for this reason we added them in line with the group. No skip the lines . If u want to skip the line like other companies written on them website and ask 75 euro but not skip the line because must say in line in normal days more then 20 minutes we did our best but the rouls change and became hard for all and we think staff of viator knows how’s everything became hard for all . I’m sorry for your bad experience. You didn’t booked skip the line you booked colosseum first Sunday. Our regards

There have been many reviews lately where the responder is downright dismissive of the comments. Firstly if you don’t take the feedback onboard and cannot accept it, then don’t bother offering the ability to write reviews. This tour is NOT worth the money. We also went on the first Sunday of the month so you are paying 40€+ for queue skip. The tour guide gives bias opinions on Christianities role in the collapse of the empire. ‘Romans invented the world’ should be the title of this tour. You will not hear about the role of Romans in animal brutality and slavery, so expect a one sided review of history. The tour guide will lead you to the Colosseum with a headset that is filled with static (most of the group complained about this) and we were simply advised to stay close to the front of the line. Impossible when they book 2 tours at once and both radios are interfering. Spend your money elsewhere or wait in line.

Thanks for your many reviews you wtote.For sure As for agreeing with the greatness of Roman history and its importance in the advancement of architecture, I am also aware of the role of religions in stopping and organizing Roman society.History differs according to the vision of a writer and a reader, and therefore a tour for an hour and a half is not enough for all that information. The Roman amphitheater, wrestling and other events inside that building are not enough to narrate the Roman civilization.To build a civilization, another civilization must be demolished.. The Roman civilization was based on the Greek, and the Syriac civilization on the Babylonian. There is no specific civilization in the world, but your opinion is respected. As for the headphones, it is possible to change his hearing before entering..It is normal for the guide to ask before starting the trip whether you can hear him 100 percent or not. But my question is here.? There are those who know history well. but they booked sunday free and they don't like the guide. We took this tour on the first Sunday of the month which is technically free to access the colosseum, so the only value we got was the tour guide. Unfortunately the tour guide chose to make some derogatory comments about Christians and French and Japanese, in an attempt maybe to be funny in an extremely awkward and distracting way. He collected our headsets after the colosseum and walked us just inside the entrance to the forum, and then left us. I learned some interesting things about the colosseum so that was the redeeming thing for this tour company. Otherwise, their tour guide was weird, awkward, not funny, downright insulting at times.

Thank you for your review, just i would like to inform you that ,first sunday monthly free entrance and was big line, you went inside Colosseo just with 10 minutes wait in line and you said you learned some interesting information from tour guide, and he gaves you access to roman forum and palatine Hill. But tour guide he did some comments about chirs ,French, Japanese،History has a number of visions and different, and the tourist guide has his point of view in reading history (he have master of history), in case if you go agian to colosseo u can see worte there about french period and chris period and other's, it does not mean that he loves or hates or comments on his style***He is the same mentor from whom I learned some information** you get access to forum👉 (not tour).Colosseo tour with access to forum Romano. you went inside Colosseo in 10 minutes wait in line, and did the tour but ..... Not fair not fair ,,because you can't find tour guide The whole group says it's 100 percent good. Enjoyed myself. I didn’t get the guide’s name but he was Irish Egyptian and he was humours which made it easy for my kids to remember some of the facts of the coliseum. It’s a pity he didn’t guide us at Palatino Hill.

The tour operators were really confusing, it was difficult to find them at the meeting point. The guide was very knowledgeable but incredibly repetitive and long-winded. The tour really dragged, we ended up leaving before it was over.

Thanks for your review, First the meeting point location. meeting point is written to you more than once(piazza del Colosseo 1)the exit of metropolitan colosseo "30"seconds from the entrance of the Roman amphitheater. We contacted all our booking on the phone more than once. We sent the location via WhatsApp. And you arrived late,.The guide is all educated,knowledgeable he has to make sure that everyone present receives the information. Not all of the group speaks English like you. Some say the guide was fast and some, like you, say it was slow and boring. It is better for us that the whole group enjoys the information and There are people within the group who ask the guide and he has to answer(This is their right). It is difficult to satisfy all the people within the group، You said tour guide was good ! Thanks **Please viator staff we need reservations number. I don't find Ryan on our booking. Maybe you wrote review for other company not us. **Viator , I want to know his reservation. Was he really a barrier with us? What a let down

We were told on the voucher to meet at one location and got there 30 minutes in advance but the guide wasn’t there. Other tour guides said they didn’t see them that day. Then after finally finding and reaching them on the phone number on the chat, (different than what was on the voucher, that number wasn’t active) a man did come find us and took us to a woman in another spot and told us we had to wait until 2:45! Our tour was for 11:30. So we lost out in our afternoon to go back to do the tour. We had no choice if we wanted to see the Colosseum. The guide was not good. She didn’t seem to be knowledgeable (not interesting, just like she memorized some info) didn’t speak clearly and the hearing devices were set to a too low maximum volume. What a bummer after waiting so long to accommodate their mistake and then to be let down with not understanding what we were there to see.

I told you I will give you part of the payment back to you. You asked for your money back, even though you made the whole trip. I lost two tickets at 11:30 NOT MY The error..you know before the meeting point and you have the number of tour guide,YOU confirmed . I gave you 80 dollars already parcial refund 4 days before. I LOST FOR YOU.a lot of money (you and Viator and tickets 2 times)my colleague told me that(The guide wants to make you sign a piece of paper in which you write that it is your fault before the trip or cancel your tour)i said no because Your mother age) Now you said our mistakes. You did the tour and taked your money back and you come late and now you said tour guide was bad.. Not fair Please please please please Viator team,I hope Viator team "look at the conversation that took place between us..and how many times confirm the location of the meeting point, More than once he wrote her your office number, And you booked tour not one come to search you if you lost.
