What To Expect

Meet your guide and group in the Borgo neighborhood, a short walk away from the St. Peter's Square, for an introductory briefing for this Vatican Museums skip-the-line tour. Then, head to the square as a group, passing along the Via della Conciliazione along the way, while your guide provides commentary about the Vatican and its history.

We were expecting a tour guide that provided interesting information above what a rented recording would have offered. Instead this was a very basic guide that felt constantly rushed and we realized we could have saved the money & enjoyed it more had we went through on our own and at our own pace.

We had a really great experience on this tour. Our guide, Savario was hilarious! If you're on the fence about booking a skip-the-line tour - it's WORTH it. There's so much to see and to have someone guide you and hit the highlights, was so refreshing. Also, the lines are insane and you will be waiting for over an hour, even if you start standing in line 1 hour before open. Even the guided tour lines are long, but Savario seemed well connected and liked by the other tour guides as well as the Vatican Museum staff, therefore, letting us cut everywhere. It's very crowded, but he kept it relatively quick and efficient, which we loved. I didn't feel like we missed anything and he took a good amount of time to explain the Sistine Chapel to us, before we went in. He also mentioned that at any time, you can break off from the group, just asked that you return the listening device so he isn't charged. I will say it is lengthy, so I can't imagine anyone wanting to linger any longer than the tour. 5 stars from us, well worth the money and far less hassle. Try to get Savario if you can!

Good but difficult to hear with the earphones and far too many people, you feel like cattle at times rather than a human being - but this is not the fault of the tour

Our tour guide Lara was very knowledgeable and she made sure the entire group remains together as the place was too crowded and we have kids in our group. At the same time she explained the history connected with the place and managed her way out to get us more space and smooth entries to museum and Sistine chapel.

I didn’t like the tour at all, just like other participants. O can’t even call it a tour cause a tour is when you have a guide that tells you exciting information, gathers the group and cares to make your experience good. The only thing that I liked about it is the skip the line possibility. Our guide, Lorenzo, did not give any interesting information if at all, was always in a rush so We had to run after him, was just passing by a lot of attractions never stoping. We were totally jealous of other groups that actually got a good guide that sounded interesting and exciting. After we left our group in capella, we followed another group to hear at least something fun

Horrible tour guide

At first our tour guide seemed funny and knowledgeable, but as the tour progressed he was horribly patronising and condescending, referring to young adults in our group as “children” and scolding us if we looked at anything other than the sculpture he was describing. He told us off if we checked our phones and refused to speak unless everyone was standing around him literally staring at him (even though we had audio guides and could hear him clearly). We were a small group of 8 amongst thousands of visitors and he told us off if we were standing in the walkway and told us when to take photos. If someone wasn’t paying attention or looking around the room while he was talking, he would stop talking and demand their attention before continuing. This was incredibly frustrating and a waste of money. We paid for him to share his knowledge with us and instead were treated like children and continuously told off the whole time. The tour was supposed to start at 9am but we didn’t get into the Vatican museum until 10am. We really couldn’t wait for this tour to be over so that we didn’t have to listen to him anymore. It is so important to have a great tour guide, but unfortunately this is out of our control. This old man tour guide ruined our experience and is a disservice to the tour company.

Horrible, Short, Very bad Tour Guide. (Only benefit is "Skip The Line" tickets)

Only benefit is skipping line and that's a lot of money to do just that. Extremely bad tour, very short (One hour till we were in and practically started so we only got like 90 minutes afterwards). Horrible guide, running through the halls without even stopping in most and very weak explanation and narration. Won't ever recommend it to anyone!
