Disappointed, pushed through with little information
Max_N, Sep 2023
Would not recommend this tour (maybe tour guide “had a bad day”). Check-in was pretty easy, stop at the office and then go stand at a street corner with everyone else waiting for their tours. Our tour guide was nice, but was not very engaging and skipped over A TON of stuff. There’s too much to talk about everything in the museum, I get that. But there were entire sections of the museum where our guide said NOTHING. I heard other guides talking but ours was not. The tour description and itinerary did not match the actual tour. Apparently it’s because I selected a different one? Very confusing. The headsets barely worked and kept cutting out. They said they are “forced to use the headsets provided the Vatican.” Which I don’t believe because other tour groups had other headsets. We went to the office after our tour and the woman was combative and didn’t want to listen to me while talking over me constantly. They did provide a small refund for our dissatisfaction with the tour. I understand people have a bad day, but we traveled far and spent a lot of money on this tour with the expectation that we would learn something and not just be lead through the museum.
Lara made this experience 10/10

Lara was amazing she was so informative and she just made the tour so much fun. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rome.
Actual museum and Sistine Chapel worth visiting, but hard walking.
Reinhilde_H, Sep 2023
The Sistine Chapel and museum is what this tour was all about. We saw only The Vatican from the back, and the garden. St. Peter’s Basilica was taken out of the tour. It was all amazing, so much art . But we had not known that there is a tremendous amount of hurried walking. We think in order to take in so much, there should have been a couple of places along the way to sit. Also toilets were not available until we nearly out the door of the last gift shop. That’s not good because there are older people and young children in the many groups that collide together. We didn’t like that we had to walk so much before we got to the start of the museum tour. Like we’re saying, the museum and Chapel are great, but the tour has so much walking with no pause time, our ankles were swollen when it was all done, after all , people still have to get back to their hotels. The taxi companies were price gauging, charging double was the normal rate was. They know people are exhausted.
Great tour

Guide not fluent in English
Masooma_R, Sep 2023
The guide was great in helping us skip the line but her English was insufficient to provide proper information during the tour.
Fantastic

We could never have found our way around all these places are had to much history told to is without Shaka Best value I have ever had from a tour guide She moves fast and really knows her way around
Best ever.
Marilyn_H, Sep 2023
Great tour guide and amazing support for my husband who had trouble walking. They found ways to get him to an elevator while the others continued the usual walking portions.
Best tour guide ever

This is my iPad. Pictures on my phone, sorry. I learned so so much from Karl, our guide. His English was so clear, I understood everything he said. Karl was so well educated on the art history. He also is very talented in teaching, which is an art itself. Karl’s ability to share his vast knowledge, in a way I could understand, was excellent. Then there was Karl’s sensitivity to our group. In advance he warned us not to get worried if we get separated through security, and of other situations. He explained where to regroup. Often, all the group went one way to see something and he directed us to go the opposite way. From there, we had more room and he could continue to teach. Then we migrated, with our additional knowledge 5o see the item. He was respectful of the other tour guides and their groups as well. I have traveled and toured various parts of the world. This is the BEST tour guide I have ever encountered. Having said that, please do not promote him to a point that he is not doing any tours. So many others will benefit from Karl’s guidance Ps: this was my second time at the Vatican. Last trip was 2005. Karl wowed me, I did not realize how much more there was to see and learn.
Glad we booked skip the line
Julie_N, Sep 2023
Francesca was a very knowledgeable tour guide. Hit the highlights and gave ample time to see the main exhibits. Skip the line worth every penny. People who didn’t book in advance waited in line for 4 hours just to get into the Vatican.
Not as advertised
Patti_T, Sep 2023
The tour was a bit misrepresented in the description. Of the 3 hours, 2 hours and 40 min were spent in the museum. 15 min were spent in the Sistine Chapel. The last 5 minutes were used to stand outside and the guide pointed to Saint Peters Cathedral and suggested areas of interest to visit there. Then the tour was done. There was NO guided tour of Saint Peters.
Excellent guide, fab history
Rosie_E, Sep 2023
Our guide Lara was fabulous, very knowledgeable and she tired to make the tour as easy for us to navigate around the large crowds as possible. Easy to find the start of the tour, we learned a lot and really enjoyed the experience
Great experience, worth the money ☀️

Our guide Marco was excellent! Great storyteller and had all historical facts, so it was excellent experience and really memorable! Certainly worth the money! Thanks again!
Unorganized Chaos
Gwendolyn_H, Sep 2023
First the tour started from Skip the Line office. When it should have been more organized to start at the first tour stop. It should mention its a long walking tour. We had seniors on the tour and the guide never used the lift. Also the tour consists of a lot of stairs. We were like a herd of cattle going through the museum. It was so hot and crowded you couldn't hardly see the displays. A good thing was that paintings on the ceiling. Our guide didn't have enough brochures to give out and asking that 2 or 3 people share. The tour guide held her flag so low it was hard to keep up with her in the crowds. They gave earphones so you can hear her talk about points of interest but really getting to see it was another question. I wouldn’t recommend this tour. People who bought tickets from the venue went straight in. We were in a line from outside the museum until the end of tour.
Way too crowded
Pamela_A, Sep 2023
You were a very knowledgeable tour guide. Honestly it was way too crowded, hard to hear and overwhelming. I’m shocked that the church would allow that many people in at one time. Health and safety doesn’t seem to be a priority.
review of skip the line small group Vatican tour
Maria_H, Sep 2023
Our guide was excellent! Highly recommend small group skip the line tour! The lines were around the building. It was stress free!
Far Too crowded!!!
Lynn_g, Sep 2023
If you are a history buff you may enjoy but going through museum was too much. The crowds were unbelievablely too large and it was very hot. It felt like going through a cattle crawl. Attendance numbers should be better controlled by the Vatican organization etc. the tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable.
Excellent tour with Carl!
Patrick_M, Sep 2023
Carl was an exceptional tour guide. His knowledge was immense and made this an unforgettable visit. I’ve been through the Vatican on a tour before and this was much better. Thanks again Carl!
Tour guide rushed ahead of people in group & during part of museum tour because she rushed so far ahead we couldn’t hear
Laura_N, Sep 2023
Vatican- best part. Worst part - tour guide rushed ahead of most of group, so we missed much of inside tour. When we told her about it, she was unfazed.
