Overview

Get out of restaurants and cooking classes and into the outdoors for a truffle hunt. With this tour, a guide and truffle-hunting dogs take you to look for white and black truffles while teaching you to identify the trees they grow on. What To Expect

Start your truffle hunting experience at a winery in the village of Ulignano near the hill town of San Gimignano.

Meet your guide and team of truffle-hunting dogs, and head into a forest of oak trees to search for the precious white and black truffle mushrooms.

Learn the techniques used to identify the species of trees where the mushrooms grow and their ideal habitats.

After the hunt, enjoy a four-course meal of traditional Tuscan food products with local wine, olive oils, vinegars, and truffle oil. If you book a morning start time, your meal will be lunch. If you book an afternoon start time it will be dinner.

Incredible staff, gorgeous property with wines and vinegars and oils!! Moreno was a hoot and quite knowledgeable! The dogs were darling, the wines were exceptional and plentiful and the food was insane and delicious!!! Highly recommend!!! Come hungry!

Not a great experience

Unfortunately we did not enjoy this experience so much. They started over an hour late, and it's really more of a 2 hour experience than 4. The truffle hunt itself was fine but in a very small area, not like you are wandering through the woods. The lunch and wine tasting were extremely under whelming. Very little education, very touristy. The cost felt exorbitant to what you got in return.

Must try this in Tuscany!

The truffle hunting was an experience to remember for a lifetime. We had so much fun with the dogs, learning how they are trained, how truffles grow and the differences among the different types. We helped once the dogs told us where to dig. The lunch and wine tasting after was a true dining experience. We enjoyed both the food and wine. Giving us a wide selection of different wines to try from Tuscany. They were also flexible accommodating allergies and vegetarian diets. A fun day from which we will take home many fond memories.

Amazing experience truffle hunting. Our hosts were gracious and fun to be with. The Lagotto Romagnala dogs are amazing and sweet. We really enjoyed the wine tasting and lunch as well!

A lot of info on truffles before the actual truffle hunting. A little long for my liking. The dogs are cute but the actual hunting is short. This is definitely geared for tourists. Food & wine were great & you better love truffle on your food. It was yummy!

We had the best day with Moreno and the rest of the family! The property is lovely, the truffle hunting experience with the dogs was unforgettable, and we enjoyed an amazing lunch + wine tasting afterwards which was the perfect ending to the day. All of the staff was friendly and knowledgable and we'd gladly return next time we're in Tuscany. Thank you all for such a lovely experience!

Ten out of ten. We only had two people but three more decided to join when the saw the venue. The truffle hunter Murano is a treasure. The food and wine were excellent. I will go back every year

This was an unexpected highlight on a trip filled with highlights. The vineyard grounds were spectacular, the truffle hunt with Moreno and his dogs was so fun, and we were blown away by the wine tasting and lunch. The wines were delicious, the service impeccable, and the experience absolutely top shelf.

We had such fun on the truffle hunting experience Moreno is the passionate hunter who taught us about the cultivation of truffles, the different varieties and their seasons, the white truffles found only in the wild, and how the dogs are trained. Enrico translated. He and Moreno had a great pace at keeping the conversation flowing and answering our many questions. Then we went out into the oak grove with three of the dogs. They soon found truffles. Moreno let each of us dig up a truffle once it was found by the dogs. We had two big handfuls in less than 30 minutes. It was a wonderful experience. Then we headed inside for wine tasting and a delicious lunch!
