What a fun-filled day! Manuel Antonio is such a beautiful place and such a contrast to San Jose - maybe my favorite beach I’ve ever been to! Although it’s a long day, it goes by really fast with all of the stops between the city and Manuel Antonio. Also, our guide Oscar was so much fun and extroverted that he helps the trip go by super quickly.

Worth the long drive in good weather
Zoila, Mar 2024
It was great to be picked up from hotel and taken back at end of trip. The stops were not clear. The bus needed a speaker hard to listen to guide. The breakfast was good and hot. It is a long ride but worth it. The timing of park stop and events to follow a bit confusing. Great driver.
Great day at Manuel Antonio!

Great experience, we definitely got our money's worth. The drive is long, but hey, it's Costa Rica, and there were enough stops and breaks along the way to make it comfortable.
Long day, but worth the drive

Long, long trip from San Jose to the beach, but once there it was worth it. Great stop on the way to see macaws, and beautiful setting for a lovely lunch.
Bring your wetter bottles!!

Remember MA park does not allow food or plastics! The heat will kill you, crazy standing in line inside the park. Playa Sur is better wind, less crowds, cooler water temp to swim!
Wow! So many things to see

We had a great guide Harlem with Marvin our driver. We saw every animal On the trail to see thanks to Harlem’s friendly way with other guides and his keen eye for spotting birds and wildlife. Everyone on our tour would say it was an amazing experience. Everything was clearly explained and our group was on time and appreciated our guides thoughtfulness.
Manuel Antonio National Park

Harlem and our driver (sorry, forgot his name) worked hard to ensure we saw as much as possible. Harlem carried a scope so we could see the wildlife up close. At Manuel Antonio we saw wildlife including monkeys, sloths, a snake, etc. Harlem also made special stops so we could see macaws and crocodiles. If we had visited Manuel Antonio on our own, we wouldn’t have seen any of this. Definitely recommend booking this tour.
A exciting, memorable, trip

We had a wonderful, memorable tour today. Our excellent guide was Fernando , he was so knowledgeable. We learned a lot about Costa Rica from him. We were promptly picked up from our hotel and had a wonderful breakfast. We were than taken towards the manual Antonio park with stops for sightseeing of crocodiles and a fruit market to get some quick snacks. At the park we breezed through the lines and had a wonderful day enjoying the beach and tropical forest. We got to see the spider monkeys a rare sight. We were then given a delicious lunch in a restaurant with a great view of the ocean and the park. The drop off was promptly done.
Great trip and guide

We had a great trip to the national park and the dogs along the way. The driver was good and the guide was informative and fun. He shared interesting information, helped us make the most of our time and kept us on schedule. He had to work extra hard because a guide called in sick and he had to lead both English and Spanish groups at the same time! He made the most of a difficult situation. My only complaint was the vehicle. I had to spend hours with my legs bent over a wheel well because of limited seating. It's a looong drive with that set up.
Worth it even in the rain.

Such a unique tour through the rainforest to a beach at the end! Never experienced anything like that in my life. Saw some cool wildlife like the Halloween crab, white faced raccoon, howler monkeys and a stunning amount of plant and flowers. Even with the rain, it was 5/5. Recommend bringing some ponchos. Some walking but fairly easy-ish apart from the slightly steep hill down/from the beach. The beach itself was lovely too - nice sand for walking and beautiful green waters.
Long walk but pleasant.

Probably the beach at MA was was a long walk through the park but we didn't see any birds or animals. The weather was hot and sunny.
Great day out!

Overall this tour is great. It was a well planned out day with an informative and interesting guide called Harlem. The day starts early with breakfast on route and crocodile watching on the way down to Manuel Antonio National Park. The next stop is at Jaco beach lookout point which provides incredible views. The main part of the day was spent in Manuel Antonio, with a short hike with our guide Harlem, who had an extensive knowledge of the wildlife present in the park, as well as a keen eye to spot them. The excursion took us into the middle of the national park, where we had approx 2 hours to do our own hikes along different (well sign pathed trails) or relax on either of the two main beaches in the park. Following these two hours we met back up with our guide before going to a nearby hotel for a rooftop lunch overlooking the beaches, which was lovely. As mentioned the excursion was great and our guide Harlem was incredibly kind and informative throughout the whole day. However I would caveat this tour that Manuel Antonio is one of the most notable national parks in Costa Rica and therefore the park feels a little less wildlife and more tourist driven, compared to other parks we visited. However we would certainly advise using a private excursion such as this one, if you want to visit the park as it enables you to visit the park with a interesting and informative guide with all park fees paid for, as opposed to being harassed by guides at the entrance of the park offering a range of prices. Also should note the park does not allow single use plastic water bottles or food into the park, for wildlife preservation and you will be checked upon entry.

Such a long drive, but totally worth it! Omar was great! He pointed out all kinds of animals to us, monkeys, sloths, scarlet macaws, and crabs. The walk through Manuel Antonio was great, and it was cool listening to all the howler monkeys howling around us. We got 2 hours of free beach time. The beach was gorgeous and the water was so warm! We watched a monkey get into someone’s bag and steal some bananas out of it. It was pretty funny, but make sure you secure your stuff on the beach just in case! Lunch was delicious, and the view was amazing. It really felt like 5 star service. 100% recommend!

No experience since Viator give us different time from when vendor showed up and we missed taking tour.

We enjoyed our time with Harlen. He was very knowledgeable about the different animals and was able to find them quickly. He also quizzed us on some of the facts he shared. On a personal note I was not feeling well and he was concerned. My daughter left her cellphone on the van and he brought it back. It is always good to have a great tour but great tour guides make it much better. I recommend this trip.
Tour lasts an entire day but it's worth it.
Earnest_R, Apr 2023
Tour and tour guide was awesome. Food was great. The stops along the way help ease the 3.5 hour drive there. The return trip is a bit longer because of traffic but take advantage of it and take a nap. You should be back in San Jose by 830pm.
Manual Antonio Beach for Spring Break
Christie_G, Mar 2023
Drive from San Jose to Manuel Antonio national park was very long. The trip is advertised at 12 hours but it is impossible to make that time with a group of 12 people. We were one and a half hours late returning back to San Jose. The two meals were very enjoyable. Fernando was a wonderful guide who gave us lots of information about Costa Rica The nature hike to the beach was not very informative. The two beaches were very nice and the water was warm to swim in. It was a great experience.
Way too many people there...
Caryl_B, Mar 2023
Way too many people there so wildlife is not as plentiful! Tour was good and enjoyed the park but could have also gone around the corner to the more beautiful beach that we didn’t know about until we were leaving.
A must see Tour!
Ivy_B, Mar 2023
Harlem was an EXCELLENT tour guide! Very informative throughout the duration of the trip, very friendly & helpful when our group asked questions! It was a pleasure to spend the day with him! Excellent Tour! Highly recommend!
Awesome trip
Charmaine_D, Mar 2023
Bathing at the beach was awesome and the tour guide and driver were great Didn’t see enough animals. I have no more to say
