What an amazing trip! An Orangutan swung through the trees straight over our camp. Saw 4/5 of the Borneo Big 5, incredible experience and unforgettable memories! Cannot recommend this enough. Jay our guide was great along with everyone else working there.

Couple of days Jungle life!! Great in this day and age!!
RADHAKRISHNAN_M, Mar 2024
The Camp was in a very quiet Peace with no nearby camps or resort. Staff was friendly and helpful. We could spot Orangutans thrice once on the river side and twice on the backyard of camp. We could also spot many bird species of Borneo in the night cruise. proboscis monkeys were spotted higher in the trees. Some monitor lizards and alligators were spotted riverside as well, Food in the camp was decent and so are amenities as expected in the camp. Bonus was the star gazing in the pitch-dark sky. Day time is Very Humid and uncomfortable in the room, No fans. We can sit in the verandah and can manage with the sea breeze. Cool down at night.
Amazing! Book it!

Amazing! Very well organised, was sent a guide of what was to come before our arrival, always kept informed of what’s to come each day and all around a brilliant few days. Jai was our guide and he was so knowledgable and not bothered about answering any of our questions regarding the wildlife, nothing was any trouble for any of the team. Accommodation was better than expected and the food was the best I’ve had in Malaysia and we never went hungry! We seen all kinds of wildlife include 4 of the Borneo big 5 (no pigmy elephants) and it was all great! We even seen orangutan's in camp the morning we were leaving! Highly recommended, we thoroughly enjoyed our time and would go back in a heart beat, gutted to leave and already missing the jungle life
Great value trip

Even though water level was high I deeply enjoyed my second "real" jungle experience. The team was awesome. Guide was super knowledgeable not just by the knowledge of the local species but even with local ecology. Regardless of this I mostly enjoyed how humble and down to earth the whole team is. Recommendation: have a tipping box or something in the common area, so guests can come up with another way to appreciate your characters than a handshake! Wishing you all the best and see ya in April 2024!
Great Adventure

We had a great time here. Jai and the guys were really welcoming and looked after us really well. Food was great and we saw lots of wildlife.
Amazing experience

We have just had the most incredible experience at the tanjung bulat jungle camp. During our stay we were lucky enough to see proboscis monkeys, monitor lizards, langurs, multiple types of hornbills and many other beautiful birds. One highlight would be the orangutan that decided to join us one morning in camp. The food was really tasty and there was plenty to keep us full. Despite the accomodation being basic it did allow us to feel at one with nature whilst at the camp. Our experience was made even better by Jai our amazing guide who was a true fountain of knowledge about all things Borneo wildlife. Would highly recommend this trip if you want a once in a lifetime trip away from the crowds.
Amazing jungle experience

Visited the Tanjung Bulat Jungle Camp for 3D2N. Water levels were high, so the camp was reachable by boat. It was a real jungle experience. Apart from the occasional local fishermen there was no one around except wildlife. We had the luck to spot three wild orangutans, one next to the camp. Saw a variety of monkeys and birds (hornbills, eagles, kingfishers). Our guide was very friendly and has a vast knowledge of all wildlife around. One of the highlights of our trip, would recommend to all!
Great experience!

We had a great experience at the camp, staff is very friendly, helpful at any time and knows a lot about the rainforest, river and animals- we were impressed. One thing we would add is a packing list for non-experienced ones like us: long pants/sleeves, rain coat, hat, mosquito spray, binoculars, flash light.
Brilliant small original jungle experience. Recommended.

Great trip with two children aged 10 and 14. Lots of welcome downtime in a place of relaxation and beauty. Lots of animals to spot and loved the night jungle walk. Jai was a great guide! Food was fantastic.
Amazing nature experience

Although the accommodation was very basic, we had a great time. We saw langurs, proboscis monkeys, civets, kingfishers, hornbills and more. We had morning, afternoon and nighttime boat trips as well as a jungle walk. The guide and staff were friendly and helpful. Food was fine with vegetarian options, and there was an opportunity to buy snacks and drinks on the way (at the camp, there was unlimited tea, coffee and drinking water, but no other drinks). There were no more than ten tourists there, and no other lodges/camps anywhere nearby, so we really felt immersed in the jungle.
Family jungle adventure

We loved our 2 night 3 day stay. A true jungle experience. We loved the simple but clean and tidy rooms, on the river in the heart of the jungle. Jai was a fantastic guide and host, showing us so many jungle creatures we have never seen before. I recommend this spot if you want to have a authentic jungle experience. Thank you Jai and the team
Amazing tour

it was my most memorable experience in Borneo. The guide Jai is knowledgeable and help us find a lot wild animals . the accomodation is basic, but room is clean and tidy. Food is good there and the staff are very friendly. The driver Bob is a good talker and introduce me a lot about Borneo and sandakan.
excellent

excellent! we arrived soaking wet from pouring rain and everything we owned was wet as well. BUT the crew were exceptionally wonderful. over the many cruises and jungle walks we saw many birds and wildlife and 3 Orang Utan sightings. what a wonderful experience
Excellent Experience

Everything about this trip was professional from start to finish. Our guide Joey was both informative and a great host and his knowledge of flora and fauna aswell as wildlife spotting was great. The food is traditional and there is plenty to eat at each sitting. We were lucky enough to see plenty of wildlife including a wild organautan with an infant within one hour of arriving at camp. Further to this we also saw a dominant male organautan who nested on the edge of the camp on our second night. We also saw 4 of the Borneo big 5, countless birds including kingfishers, kites, eagles and night herons to name but a few. Wild cats were also seen on the river bank on the night cruise aswell as, butterflies and reptiles during the day hike. It's a real experience and the boat tours are a great way to see wildlife without disturbing them offering the opportunity to observe natural behaviour. Would highly recommend!
Incredible, unforgettable experience

My friend and I decided to do this tour whilst visiting Sabah in August and we were really unsure what to expect. This trip turned out to be the absolute highlight of our whole trip to Malaysia. We were collected at Sandakan (the tour organisers are incredibly flexible with pick up points) and it was a 2 hour journey to the Kinabatangan River. The journey to get there is long and winding and you gradually move further and further away from civilisation (which is exactly what we wanted!). We finally reached a river where we disembarked and proceeded by boat to the camp. I don't want to give too much away about the itinerary because a lot of the enjoyment of these kind of trips come from the novelty, but the next two and a half days consisted of guided river excursions and jungle walks, along with free time to relax in the beautiful jungle lodge (make sure you bring a book to read, you will have plenty of free time during the day and the evenings). I will say that our hosts were incredible. The lodge is owned by local people and was set up as a base for conservation and reforesting efforts along the Kinabatangan. The food is fantastic (although simple) and is the local cuisine. There were unlimited teas and coffees and water. Our guide Joey was also fantastic. I cannot guarantee that there will be animals (that's up to the animals!) but if the animals are there, you will 100% spot them thanks to Joey's amazing eyes and awareness. He is very knowledgeable about the forest plants and animals; and incredibly passionate about the conversation work undertaken by the Camp. On our river cruise we spotted wild orangutans (including a mother and baby), proboscis monkeys, macaques, crocodiles, monitor lizards, kingfisher, eagles, hornbills, storks and many others. Previous groups have seen pygmy elephants and gibbons. I should point out that accommodation is basic: the beds are simple and there is no air conditioning. The lodge is within a forest clearing, beside the river so bugs are plentiful (we were both bitten relentlessly!). There is no wifi or phone signal. For many, this will add to the experience... but if you prefer luxury this may not be the tour for you. The tour is organised to be sustainable and minimise the impact on the rainforest ecology- hence the spartan accommodation. Overall, I came away from the tour feeling relaxed and refreshed; and very lucky to have seen such exotic creatures and plants in a natural, unspoilt habitat. 100% recommend!
A piece of heaven on earth

We have had a lot of fun. The camp is clean and well managed. The staff is very polite and efficient. The cruises on the river and the walks in the jungle are interesting and adventurous. The camp is very peaceful and relaxing in such a way that I can't tell. Must try.
Einfach fantastisch!!!
