Disappointed in the Dominican Republic

Viator in Santo Domingo DR was a very disappointed experience since I used them 2 times in other countries and it was excellent service both times. I waited at the airport outside for 47 minutes to be picked up by another driver not the scheduled one, unacceptable!!! The driver was upset for Viator bad service provided, but the ride was smooth and safe. I was planning to book my return to the airport but decided not to contact viator again.

Premium price, poor service. Would not recommend.

I was arriving into Santo Domingo late at night (after 1:00am) as a solo traveler. I am usually very whimsical about travel but given this was my first time wanted to be safe so booked this for comfort and security. While pickup from airport was fine, driver did not know my drop-off address and did not have reliable internet service to program it in and follow GPS. We ended up having to stop on the side of the road (in sketchy looking areas) on a more than one occasion (after driving 25 minutes in the wrong direction) so I could give him the address and he can fiddle with his phone, attempting to get it to work. And despite paying a premium and clearly subpar service, he still harassed me for a tip after trip was completed. Would not recommend. Use Uber instead. Likely better service at half the price.

We arrived at the airport and had a very friendly young man greeted us and helped us out to our transportation. The driver was friendly but didn't speak English very well. He first dropped us off at the wrong hotel but I was able to call him to come back. He was very apologetic and immediately took us to our hotel. Overall it was a great experience.

Since the journey from the airport to downtown Santo Domingo is so long, I didn't trust a taxi to not take me the scenic route. Even before I arrived in Dominican Republic, a representative from this company had already messaged me on WhatsApp to confirm my plans. As soon as I exited the passenger arrival area, he was there waiting. Everything was super fast and easy and even though my hotel wasn't easy to find in the maze of streets, the driver took the time to make sure I got exactly where I wanted to go. He even was nice enough to show me some things around the town and answer a couple of questions along the way.
