This adventure is one for the memory books. Hike through the Sonoran Desert outside Scottsdale to a local peak before taking the exciting way down. Harness up, lean back and enjoy the descent…just you, the ropes and the rock face. Your guide will ensure you are comfortable with the rappelling technique in a safety briefing before you set out.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Every part of the day was adventurous and fun - enhanced greatly by our outstanding guide, Jose. A quick and picturesque hike to the base of the rappelling hill, a hike up to the top, and we were rappelling before we knew it. We were able to experience eight rappels across three different rock faces - each more exciting and just a bit more challenging. When we weren't rappelling we were able to take in incredible views of the mountain ranges and desert around us. Jose, our guide, was a wealth of knowledge about the area and its history. Overall a five-star experience for fun, adventure, and activity that the whole family could enjoy.

We LOVED rappelling, Jose was the best guide!! It was our first experience rappelling, and Jose made us feel comfortable and confident! We are ladies in our late thirties, with moderate fitness levels. We went early November, the temps were in the 70s in the morning. Highly recommend pants so your legs don’t get scraped up by the brush on the hike back up. We rappelled numerous times, each time you hike back up to the top. Jose supplied all the water so we didn’t have to carry anything. I do recommend a belt bag to carry phone in to take pictures. We are SO happy we booked this excursion with Jose!

José with Epic Adventures was amazing. We were first time rappellers but he was great at making us feel comfortable and safe. He was a ton of fun and felt more like a friend than a guide. We were able to rappel multiple times and had a blast each time. Highly recommend this experience. His company Epic Adventures is the one I’d use for any experience in the area!

Jose was a great guide! He is very patient, made us feel very comfortable and super safe. I would definitely recommend and would do it again. Super fun experience. There is a little climb you'll make for this but definitely doable and Jose will go at your pace. Loved it!

This was a great adventure. We hiked and rappelled the Tom’s thumb trail which had some spectacular views. Nick was a super friendly and helpful guide. We felt safe, plenty of water, he knew all the folks hiking and climbing around us. If you’re looking to experience arizona in a more adventurous way, this is a great way to do it.

Nick was our guide to the top of our rappelling spot. Little endurance needed to get to the top each time but so worth it! Rappelled 3 times, husband got 5 in!!!

Bob was a great guide. He quickly adjusted to the fitness levels of each of us in our group. He was supportive and patient and ensured we felt comfortable with the rappelling. The piece that could have made this better would be to include in the instructions that it is a hike but you will be scaling boulders and should wear more than just a tennis shoe. Our first time down, we were not given gloves and hands burned from the ropes. But all in all was a good experience, something we had never done before and not sure if we’d do again. We weren’t prepared for this with tennis shoes and shorts.

This tour and its operator, EPIC Adventures, was fantastic. Safety was paramount and after a trial run, our tour guide had us comfortably rappelling down a 75 foot rock formation in no time. The views while rappelling are awe inspiring, so be sure to take time to breathe, and take in the natural beauty while on the way down. The toughest thing about the adventure, if you are not part mountain goat, or someone with above average upper body strength, is climbing back up the mountain after each rappel. The feeling of accomplishment you get and the exhilaration of the descent does help you forget how hard the climb back up really is. Our tour guide has many years of experience and is very patient and kind. We took this tour on the spur of the moment and are we glad we did. It is certainly a bucket list worthy experience, even if it's not on your current list......you'll certainly add it after the fact. It's a wonderful way to experience the mountains of Scottsdale up close and personal!
