What To Expect

Depart from your Shanghai hotel in a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan and head straight to Jade Buddha Temple, a sacred 19th-century structure built during the Qing Dynasty. Marvel at the majestic architecture of the temple and listen as your guide explains the captivating history of the construction.

Next, absorb the botanical beauty of People's Square next, a verdant and vast green area in which locals socialize. Feed doves and pray for world peace in the consecrated enclaves then enrich your cultural knowledge of the city with a visit to the Shanghai Museum, a collection of exhibits that speaks eloquently of the country’s history.

After perusing 12,000 artifacts, revitalize with a fulfilling and flavorsome lunch then visit the Yuyuan Garden, a blissful stretch of springs and significant buildings. Continue onto Shanghai’s waterfront to see The Bund, a legendary landmark that symbolizes old and new Shanghai and hear of its rich heritage from your guide.

Drive down the former French Concession District, a boulevard characterized by tree-flanked streets, then wander through the exuberance of Shanghai’s entertainment district, Xin Tian Di. After your tour comes to a conclusion, travel back to your hotel in a spacious vehicle with magical memories of your sightseeing experience.

Great tour for first timer
Irwan_H, Apr 2024
Our guide Michael spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable about the back stories for all the stops along this tour. The lunch of Chinese food was also very good. I strongly recommend this tour for first timer in Shanghai to get the highlights of the city within a day and get well orientated for further self exploration.
Nice experience
Federico_L, Apr 2024
Nice and enjoyable tour; the downside is that is a bit rushed due to the many places you have to visit and barely have time to take pictures (expecially in the gardens)
No smpathy
Gordon_M, Apr 2024
Through no fault of mine I was unable to participate with this tour. My luggage missed my connecting flight. By this time it was less than 24 hours before the tour started. I managed to send an email at around 5pm asking if I could change the date bur the email went unanswered. Later I had contact with someone who rang to confirm my participation. They said minimum 24 hours notice and no refund. Just my bad luck. Tour representative suggested I participate in the clothes I had been wearing for the last 48 hours and hope that my luggage would be at my hotel at the completion of the tour. In the end my bags showed up 65 hours after arriving. I missed a 2nd tour as well
A must for solo travellers :)
Charlotte_V, Apr 2024
A great experience as a solo traveller. The group was small and very friendly and Tom our guide was very hospitable and knowledgeable. A definite recommend to get a feel for this fabulous city.
Fantastic Highlights!
Kristen_R, Apr 2024
This is a great tour of the Shanghai highlights! There is a lot of walking involved, and we'll worth the effort! Our guide, Tom, was very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Amazing tour, the restaurant is awful
Victor_D, Feb 2024
Excellent tour, our guide Tom was super friendly and had a lot of knowledge of everything!! Strongly recommend this tour and specially Tom, but the lunch wasn’t good at all, they need to change the restaurant, they are so many great restaurants around, that is a shame that they took us to this one, we had a dinner the night before for 56 rmb = 8us$ for two people and was great !
Silk marketing not...
DrMrinal_M, Feb 2024

Overall trip was good and the guide was nice, telling relevant stories and historical facts. Visit to Silk factory seem to be more marketing
Shanghai tour including Jade Buddha Temple and The Bund
Radhakishan_R, Dec 2019
Over all the tor was good but the following areas of improvement can be considered Instead of visiting the Bund in the afternoon, evening visit should be preferred as the evening lights can be seen, The tour guide should ensure that the tourist follow strict timelines. In my tour there were only three of us. My self and one elderly couple. After lunch the tour guide took us to a pearl show room and the elderly couple was allowed to spend unlimited time in the showroom for shopping. More than one hour was wasted on this.
Excellent Tour!

Frank is an excellent tour guide. He is very knowledgeable and takes care of his clients. He even took pictures and sent them to me by WeChat.
Lovely way to spend a day
Beautiful960, Nov 2019
Tom is a good guide. Full of information, dates, facts and figures. We visited the Shanghai Museum, three different temples, a silk factory, the jade and pearl center and a large open air flea market/mall area and the Bund. Every stop is an opportunity to shop, but I really felt it in the silk and jade shops. The shop workers hovering, pointing out sales and making suggestions. The tour group was less than 10 people which was great.
Too Many Retail Stops
Christine_G, Nov 2019
I was the only person on this tour. The transport was over 30 minutes late, so I would have expected a call to say they were on their way. In fact the Concierge at the pick up hotel called for me, got the driver’s number then called him. Traffic was bad, as it often is in Shanghai, but it shouldn’t have been me doing the calling. The places we went were really interesting. I would have liked longer at the Shanghai Museum & the Jade Buddha Temple, the Bund etc. Because I was the only passenger we moved faster than a group would so time at stops could have been extended. In fact, despite the late start, I was back at the hotel by about 15.40. What was disappointing were the visits to the pearl centre, the silk factory etc. These were thinly disguised (expensive) selling opportunities, with very little actual information & interesting facts provided. Frank, the guide, was knowledgeable if uncharismatic.
A wonderful tour
mary_munro, Oct 2019
This was a long day but our guide was knowledgeable and confident. He didn't hurry us and answered all the questions he was asked. We had time for photos and to examine museum exhibits etc for ourselves. We found the trip to the Silk Factory fascinating and the Tea Tasting session was most enjoyable. An excellent lunch was included. We would never have seen all these things by ourselves so totally recommend this tour.
Great Tour Host
BernardFong, Oct 2019
Tom was assigned to host a gp of international tourists from US, Canada, South Africa and Singapore on 29/10 day tour of Shanghai. His pleasant personality, great hospitality skills, deep local knowledge were indeed commendable. Tks Tom.
completely commercial experience
mmatsfo, Oct 2019
In a nutshell, this is simply commercial mass tourism at its worst. The tour stops at the "Silk Center" where you waste time because the sales rep are trying to sell you stuff. Then you stop at "Pear Center" where it is the same story. Then the guide spends a good amount of time trying to sell you additional acrobat show tickets while in the bus. I cannot blame the guide. He is probably doing what the travel company is asking him to do. A better option than this tour would be to use the hop and hop off tour.
Need to see more of Shanghai and less of factory tours
James T, Oct 2019
This tour was labeled as the Best of Shanghai and it did show us some of Shanghai. We also visited numerous Buddhist Temples. However, it seemed like we spent an equal amount of time visiting a pearl factory and a silk factory where time was spent having sales people try to sell us jewelry and silk comforters. I do not believe this was our guide's fault but rather the person who developed the itinerary of the tour. If I wanted to take a shopping tour, I would have scheduled one. Time on this tour could have been better spent going into the history of Shanghai: pre-WWII, during the war, and Post WWII. It could have gone into the demographics of Shanghai and its economy. What do all the people in Shanghai do? We should have visited the amazing diorama at the Urban Planning Center instead of being let loose for 90 minutes with out a guide in the Shanghai Museum This tour has so much potential and room for improvement.
Tour was not good and Guide was worse
Jody_R, Oct 2019
Our guide was boring and like a robot. he had no personality and made the tour boring. We had 2 stops to go and left. We had taken 5 tours and they were all great except this one.
Very good tour and tour guide
MichaelK10895, Sep 2019
Very good tour and tour guide I learned alot from new and old Shanghai. Worth a visit to Shanghai and exploring.
Very good
Otanildo_C, Sep 2019
Very good This tour is a great option to know about some of the main tourist points of Shanghai. The lunch is included in the package of the tour. I was picked up at the hotel in a car with conditioned air, it guides and driver, and at the end of the tour I had the option of to return to the hotel or to leave in the last point of the tour. This was a good option to know Shanghai faster and with information of the places by the guide.
Nice trip in Shanghai
STEFANIA_R, Aug 2019
Everything went smoothly. I only wish the guide had been more flexible since it was only me and my husband were the only two people taking the tour that day.
