Highly recommend this tour. We were the only couple on that day so basically had a private tour of Val d’Orcia and 2 Brunello wineries so the value was excellent including being picked up and droppped off at our hotel. The driver was extremely knowledgeable and provided excellent and informative commentary as we drove through the countryside. Stopped at 2 smaller wineries. Castello Tricerchi which was built in 1441 and provided a good tour with tastings of 4 wines. We then stopped in Montalcino for an hour to wander the town. Wine Room had over a hundred Brunellos by the glass and the view from the fortress was spectacular. Then drove to Paradiso di Cacuci. Had a very good tour led by Marco to see the cellars etc and hopefully asked some good questions. A 3 course Lunch was provided, used all local ingredients and was extremely good. It matched the various wines very well. The most interesting was an (almost) vertical of Brunello they produce from ‘18, ‘16 & ‘15. We preferred the ‘15! The olive oil they produce is also worth mentioning as it was one of the best we’ve tried. (Thanks for the grappa as well) So a wonderful day out, learnt a lot, and tasted some seriously good wines from smaller produces who are obviously passionate about their art.

The tastings and views were amazing. Very knowledgeable staff at the wineries provided a terrific introduction into rossos, Brunellos, and other wines produced in the Montalcino region.
Great tour of Tuscany

Thank you very much Nicolo for the best wine tour ever. We enjoyed both vignards, the food was excellent.

Nicola our guide was so nice and full of knowledge about Italian wine, especially about Brunello as he is from Montalcino. He is teaching you from the moment you get in the van. We stopped at a small winery there, tasted 5-6 wines with some charcuterie, bought some great wine. We drove to Pienza to taste some Pecorino that was so different and delicious compared to the limited versions we get in the US (which we still love) and grab some pics of Val d’Orcia with about 30 mins of free time. We then went to Montepulciano and did an underground cellar tour with lunch (charcuterie board and lasagna) and a tasting of 4-5 wines. We bought wonderful wine there as well. Both wineries also make olive oil which was delicious, so factor that into your buying plans. Both can ship as well. Nicola continued to teach about wine, food, the area and Italy in general on the drive home to Siena. Highly recommend for wine enthusiasts!

Solaria was nice. Costello Tricherce was OUTSTANDING. Underground at Montepouliciano was ok. It was cold downstairs. It was supposed to be a pairing lunch and it was not. It was barely even a lunch. Our driver was fantastic. The driver and Tricherce keep this at 4 because they were outstanding.

Ciao! We are happy that you enjoyed the wineries and the driver guide explaining about the local culture and tradition! We took your review as an "advice" to do always better and this is why we have improved also the Lunch which is now super complete, with 3 courses each one paired with the wines of the historical cellar, and at the end dessert wine with typical tuscan cookies!! As advertised, but not as expected

I booked this tour based on the reviews I'd read here, expecting a personalized, custom feeling experience. I expected wineries that I couldn't otherwise find, an engaged tour guide, and a generally great day. While the tour technically included all the pieces in the listing, it didn't quite live up to expectations. Our drive was 30 min late to pick us up, with no notice. This plus an accident meant that we missed the tour of our first winery completely. The wines themselves were lovely. Stop two was great - much smaller, friendly guide, good wine. But our third winery felt like a giant tourist trap. The winery guide was disinterested, reciting lines, and only engaging with us to rattle off a description before pouring the next taste. The wines themselves were fine, but nothing great - and definitely nothing that felt like the capstone for the tour. Our driver didn't speak much English. He was friendly, but spent most of the day completely silent, or on the phone. I hoped for more local information (per reviews here), but that just wasn't the case for us. As the last drop off, we got back to our hotel around 19:-0-... giving us an exhausting 10.5hr day that just didn't quite meet what the prior reviews set me to expect.

Hi Jamie, in the end, we are happy that you say that the wines were lovely and all the pieces of the itineraries were respected. The length of the tour is 6-7 hours which is the normal time to visit 3 wineries ( including lunch in the third one ) and also some local villages like Pienza or Montepulciano.... as you will understand if you leave from Florence, the driving distance is longer, it takes 1,5 hours to arrive in the Brunello region, this is why your journey was longer. One thing that is very important for us to point out, is that the BOUTIQUE WINERIES that we visit are something that you don't find if you organize a tour on your own, really AUTHENTIC PLACES WITH A FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF, unfortunately in your case that certain "empathy" with the ambience has not been created... but fortunately, as our other review say .. normally there is a very nice feeling in our tours and all our clients say it was one of the "highlights" of their Tuscany trip. Our Tuscan Wine Tour
DAVID_R, Oct 2018
On our 1st trip to Italy and into the wine country of Tuscany, we opted for private, small group tour through the regions of Montalcino and Montepulciano. Best known for they're extraordinary Brunello's and Montepulciano's. We were not disappointed with any aspect of the tour except: if it was my TOUR, I'd do it in reverse so that the first winery / vineyard we visited "CapAnna" a fourth generation, small batch Classic Brunello maker, would be last on the list. Never start at the top handiwork down. The other wines were good and the grounds of each beautiful, but, disappointing after tasting such wonderful wines at CapAnna. Could have stayed there the entire time. Luigi, our driver was amazing. He really knew his way around the region having grown up there. We encountered a bottleneck on a narrow road from an accident. He turned us around, took a few back streets and before we knew it we were back on the freeway heading towards our destination. Grazie Luigi. If you're looking for an adventure through breathtaking wine country, this could be just the ticket. Ciao!

We had such an amazing time on our wine tour throughout Tuscany! Niccolo was an awesome guide that took us to four fabulous wineries in Montelcino as well as Montepluciano. The drive to and from Siena was beautiful and comfortable. It was an amazing day and we highly recommend this tour!
