What To Expect

Look for a person outside of Diocletian’s Palace holding an orange spoon to begin your tour of Split’s cuisine, set against the city’s historical scenery.

Follow your guide a very short distance to reach Split’s Green Market, where you’ll sample meats, cheeses, and “peka” bread, as you learn more about the city’s seasonal produce. With your appetite awoken, walk through the Split Old Town to a tavern that specializes in seafood and pasta, for more tasty dishes, this time accompanied by a local wine.

Make sure you have room for more food though as you continue to the city’s oldest pastry shop for gelato and some sweet treats made from old family recipes. It’s there not far from the Riva Promenade that you’ll say goodbye to your guide.

Great way to be introduced to Croatian food and get some info on the city

The tour was amazing the food absolutely more than I could have imagined. The green market and the shops were wonderful getting to see their way of life and tasting local cuisine. Our guide was so informative and friendly this would be the perfect trip for a romantic couple or a big family.

My guide was wonderful. I am so sorry that I am terrible at names and forgot hers. She was memorable in her quality buy my memory for names is terrible. She explained a lot about Split, the Palace, the food and the wine. Great conversation and great knowledge. The food was fabulous. Almost too much :). And the same with the wine. Great and a lot. We went to three great restaurants and a gelateria. I would go back again.

The tour is great, our guide Gabriela was fantastic and informative, the food was good too. I have to give it four stars instead of 5 because despite telling Viator that we didn't like fish, there were still 2 out of 3 fish courses, Gabriella hadn't been told but she did her best to sort it out and the little bits I had were actually quite nice! Also, Viator had managed to mess up our original booking and we had been told that this would be a private tour just for us because of the inconvenience caused. At the last minute we were told there was another couple on the tour, they added to the experience and were great but Viator shouldn't promise what they don't then deliver.

Didn't meet expectations. The amount of food was a ok, but the quality was very average. Even the gelato stop was a poor choice - we did better ourselves. The guide was nice, but really gave zero information on history or anything related to Croatian cuisine and how it fits into the culture. Underwhelming.

Our tour guide Vicki was incredible. She had a vast knowledge of the history of the area but more importantly an infectious happy disposition that had everyone in our group happy and laughing. The stops were all unique and the food was excellent.

Lovely guide who was enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable. The lovely Christina (I think, apologies if not) was also interested in her guests and we were lucky as we had a lovely group of people and got talking so much that we rotated around the table every time we moved restaurant. Plenty of food so even if, like me, you are not keen on absolutely everything (hubby liked it all) there was still plenty. A lovely evening out with a delightful host.

Lucy our guide was so friendly, informative and keen to answer any questions we had. The group size of 14 was made up of Americans except us (2) who were Brits but everyone chatted to each other and were warm and friendly. A good variety of food and wine and dietary needs were well accommodated. The talk about the history of Split between restaurants was very informative. Have been on these trips before and find it useful to do at the start of the holiday to learn the layout of the place and where the good restaurants are early on. Would highly recommend.
