Make sure to enter a cell phone number in your booking. We will use this to reach out and confirm your final pick-up time (and place) 1-2 days before the tour date. Pick-up at your hotel (or other preferred location) is not guaranteed if you are outside of our specified pick-up area. During high season we reserve the right to direct you to another central meeting point even if your hotel is within the pick-up zone. This is to shorten the pick-up process so you and other guests don't have to sit around in the car for an unacceptably long time.

What To Expect

Depart from your centrally located Stockholm hotel in a comfortable vehicle and begin your cultural journey to the heart of Sweden’s captivating countryside. Stop first to view the ancient Viking causeway of Täby and admire the runic stones that once comprised a Viking parliament. Return to the minivan and venture to Granby, a quaint and archaic settlement that dates back to 400 AD; decipher the ancient inscriptions upon the Granbyhällen, a colossal rock decorated with swirling runes, then revitalize with lunch at a local eatery (own expense). 

Next, continue through the verdant beauty of the Lunda region to Sigtuna, an ancient settlement founded in the 10th century. Stroll the atmospheric streets of Sweden’s oldest town and browse bespoke boutiques for special souvenirs. 

Return to the minivan and travel through more lush landscapes to Gamla Uppsala, a small village replete with royal burial mounts and relics that attest to the richness of Viking culture. See some of Sweden’s most significant scared sites then enjoy some relaxed independent exploration in new Uppsala, where the country’s oldest Cathedral resides. 

Finally, return to your minivan and relax during the journey back to Stockholm.

The tour was a no show. I indicated the hotel I was staying at for pick up, which was in the list of options. I received a confirmation for pickup at my hotel. The tour guide never showed. If the location for pick up was changed, I should have been phoned. Viator provides no phone number or email to register a complaint for a refund. No recourse.
Great day of Viking history

This was a wonderful day! Angus picked us up at our hotel, very friendly on time. Transportation was very nice and comfortable headsets so we could hear while he was narrating and giving information while he was taking us place to place. We learned so much about Swedish history, Viking history in a very fun and interactive way. Many special touches along the way. Don’t miss out on this experience in Sweden.

This was a great trip! It was fascinating to get out of the city to see some of the Swedish countryside and to learn about Viking history. The best part of the tour was our guide, Carl. He was extremely informative and has a great sense of humor - Dad jokes aside 🤣 I encourage anyone interested in Viking history to take this tour.

The tour was awesome! Angus was able to accommodate and pick me up from my hotel in Solna. Although he was not the tour guide, he provided us with great info. The tour took us to every place listed. The female tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. This is a definite for those who have some knowledge of the Vikings. Highly recommend going to the Viking museum first, watching the first few episodes of the Vikings to better prepare for this once in a lifetime tour!

The Viking Tour was excellent!! Learned so much about the history of Sweden. Our guide, Gabriel, was phenomenal! Very knowledgeable, attentive and with a great sense of humor. Highly recommend!

Urban was fabulous. Not only did he pick me up at my own place but he was so knowledgeable and thorough throughout the tour. Amazing how much Swedish history he knew and he was able to transform the current timeline to the timeline of the past. I felt like I was a part of Swedish history when I learned why my grandfather’s middle name was Olaf! Would definitely recommend.

I'm normally not a big fan of tours but this small group tour (6) was fantastic. It would simply not be possible to see these wonderful sites without a vehicle and experienced guide. Our guide was exceptional, extremely knowledgeable and very engaging to listen to. The tour covered numerous sites in farmland and towns and, put together, created an immersive understanding of this part of the world 1000 years ago.

Fantastic communication and organization. I really appreciate the hotel pick up and immediate friendliness. The guide (Urban, not sure of the spelling) was extremely knowledgeable and answered lots of questions. The fika was just delightful. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants a low pressure (no sales gimmicks) educational adventure!

If you like rune stones and churches, this is your tour! Our guide Urban gave us lots of info about Swedish history and culture, not just limited to viking times. He also came ready with lots of loaner umbrellas, which everyone appreciated. The fika break was tea, coffee and delicoous apple crisp at a very cozy farm cottage. We also saw a few burial mounds. I went in August and got eaten up by mosquitos, so I'd recommend insect repellant. Overall a fun and educational tour with an enthusiastic guide. Just be prepared for weather and bugs!

We enjoyed the day with our very knowledgeable guide, Gabriel. He not only was able to have us understand the Viking time in Swedish history but he was able to put this knowledge into context. By leading us through the time as we visited each place we were able to see how the Vikings fitted into not only Swedish history but how they interacted with the world. We were grateful that he was able to also give us time to view both the old and the ‘new’ Uppsala cathedrals. When we asked questions, he gave a considered answer. It was a good tour.
