We had the privilege of spending the day with Daphne as our guide and Jose as our driver. Daphne knew so much about the local wildlife and flora - she even knew specific sounds of different birds and good places to spot animals. Although we didn’t get lucky enough to see any monkeys or sloths, Daphne made the tour beyond interesting with her vast knowledge and sweet character. Definitely a tour worth doing to get to know the local wonders of Costa Rica! The waterfall and thermal baths with volcanic mud were unique experiences that we also really enjoyed. The thermal water definitely feels great after the morning hike! Highly suggest this great taste of Costa Rica to experience the volcanic activity and the awesome Daphne.

The waterfall was the...

The waterfall was the most wonderful part of this excursion. We also didn’t expect the lunch provided meant we would be at an authentic restaurant which was very delicious.
Okay tour, not much of a "Volcano Hike" but enjoyed the waterfall and hot springs.
Jamie_C, Apr 2024
We were picked up at Planet Hollywood by a car and had a 30 minute car ride to meet up with the rest of the tour. We then joined their van to proceed on with the tour. The "volcano hike" was really just a hike through the woods and you stopped by some bubbling mud pots along the trail. It was a nice hike through the rain forest but don't expect much regarding a "volcano." The waterfall swim was refreshing. You walked down a trail and a flight of stairs and at a landing you placed all your belongs and went down a ladder to the water at the base of the waterfall. Then we went for lunch which was a delicious buffet style lunch. We finished the tour at the hot springs where you walked down a trail and went over hanging bridges. You were given the option to have a cup of volcanic mud to spread on your body and then rinse off in a shower or river after it dried. Then you could enjoy multiple hot spring pools with varying temperatures in each pool.
Taste of Guanacaste

A great tour led by Kevin and our driver Johnny. The hike was informative, showing two different ecosystems through dry season. Impressive look outs to hot springs and volcano mud activities. The waterfall and bathing in the cool waters was just so perfect . Great tour of thermal baths- would have loved to have more time there. Overall great tour!
Totally worth it!

Amazing tour! Definitely worth the money. You get to see A LOT for what I feel is a low price. Three different stops, a guide, lunch, transportation and a good time. We did the shared transportation option and they picked us up on time, right at our hotel in Tamarindo. Kevin Piña and Johnny were AMAZING. Extremely kind and knowledgeable. You can tell they genuinely enjoy their job and getting to know the tourists. They were always willing to help and made sure you were okay. Food was super good with lots of options at La Hacienda Restaurant. My only complain is that I wish Native’s Way had suggested we bring binoculars for the forest hike. There was definitely bird watching we could have appreciated more. Other than that, listen to the suggestions they say to bring (bug repellent, towel, change of clothes, etc.) You will need it all. WARNING: this is not for the weak, injured, people in poor physical health or people with extreme fear of heights. There was a 3.5 mile hike that was 40% stairs. And to get to the waterfall, you had to walk through a long, tall, hanging bridge.
Amazing Hot Springs and Mud Bath
Susan_N, Apr 2024
Ali was such a knowledgeable guide! We learned so much on our hike in Rincon de la Vieja. But our favorite part of the tour were the wonderful hot springs and mud bath.
Hiking, waterfall, mud bath, hotsprings tour!

10/10 experience! Our guide was great. He was very personable and he didn't over-do it with facts/ history about things. Everything about the trip was perfect from the hiking to the waterfall, hot springs, volcanos, mud baths, etc. It was a full days worth of activities and was well worth it!
Wonderful experience

Wonderful Family Day
Linda_G, Mar 2024
We enjoyed an incredible day. We learned a lot about Costa Rican habitat during the hike, enjoyed splashing in the waterfall, and relaxed in the Hot Springs. Our family built wonderful memories that will last so lifetime. Thank you.

This was the perfect tour!! Start with the hike which was fabulous. Then the amazing cool water @ the waterfall. Ending in hot springs with a application of mud! Our driver Angus and guide Santos were incredible! Thank you 🙏
Poor organization
Jan_H, Mar 2024
The scenery was beautiful, however our group was 15 plus the guide and it should have been no bigger than 7 or 8 total. 45 minutes late and a lot of confusion about what was happening when. Good lunch spot.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Hello Jan! Hope you are doing great! Thanks for taking the time to bring this to our attention, we always aim to deliver a great experience. As stated on the additional tour details, this activity will have a maximum of 15 travelers on a shared tour. However, we cannot find any reports of being 45 minutes late for this tour. We are looking into this issue and hope to resolve it promptly and accurately. Pura vida!
Hot but Fun Hike with Great Waterfall and Hot Springs
Colton_K, Mar 2024
We had a really great time with our guide, Santos. He was very knowledgeable about all the flora and fauna we experienced throughout the day. We were able to see lots of wildlife such as capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, various lizards and birds, and were able to see a tapir close to the trail! The waterfall and hot springs were really cool and refreshing after the hot hike. A very fun experience!
Worth it!
Carmen_G, Mar 2024
The hike was a great workout, swimming in a waterfall is simply an item on my bucket list and the mud bath and just a lot of fun.
Fantastic guide and value for money!
Helen_E, Mar 2024
Hiking on the Rincón de la Vieja was spectacular. The trail was good for all levels, even seniors. We saw spider and white-faced monkeys up close and heard a troop of howler monkeys. Our guide explained the geological structure and behaviour of this, and other nearby, volcanoes. She was very knowledgeable and informative. Interesting birds and iguanas, and much info about the vegetation, especially the trees, were revealed by our guide. AND a great lunch and very comfortable coach and good driver!
Long day trip
Sandra_A, Mar 2024
The park was nothing to brag about but the waterfall was spectacular and fun to go into the pool. The hot springs were several dirty “hot tubs” in the rocks.
It’s a must do trip
Mell_G, Mar 2024

Gray your for Costa Rica’s natural beauty
Patricia_B, Mar 2024
We had a wonderful time. Our guide, Cesar, was amazing and very knowledgeable. One of the best lunches I had during our stay. I would have preferred to stay longer at the waterfall over the hot springs. I highly recommend this tour to see the Costa Rican landscape.
Amazing
Shauna_P, Mar 2024
Henry and David were great!best guides ever. Very informative and funny. Felt safe entire time. Thank you!
I would do it again.
JOHN_R, Feb 2024
It was a hot day, 95 degrees and some of the hike is in direct sunllight. Pur guide was great, informative and freindly. We saw white faced and spider monkeys, iguanas and birds. Waterfall was fantastic, the ladder and rocks you walk on in the water are smooth and slippery so be prepared. The hot springs and mud bath was great.
Fabulous experience, awesome guide
Jennifer_E, Feb 2024
My husband and I enjoyed this trip a lot. Ivan was a fabulous host. He was very knowledgeable and personable. He went out of his way to ensure our experience was awesome. He took time to explain what we were seeing and was patient with our questions. I would highly recommend this tour and if you can request a guide Ivan is your man!
Experience of a lifetime
Colleen_W, Feb 2024
Incredible 2 hour hike through rocky trails and many many stairs. It's also in a shady most of the time. Be aware of the stairs but it was a great experience. The waterfall and hot springs with mud bath was the best part. The waterfall is a really awesome experience but be careful on the rocks in the water! They're not secure and it's very easy to fall. There are also hanging bridges that bounce and sway as you walk so be aware if you have a fear of heights. All ages were on the tour and anyone should definitely do this for an experience of a lifetime.
