We had the privilege of spending the day with Daphne as our guide and Jose as our driver. Daphne knew so much about the local wildlife and flora - she even knew specific sounds of different birds and good places to spot animals. Although we didn’t get lucky enough to see any monkeys or sloths, Daphne made the tour beyond interesting with her vast knowledge and sweet character. Definitely a tour worth doing to get to know the local wonders of Costa Rica! The waterfall and thermal baths with volcanic mud were unique experiences that we also really enjoyed. The thermal water definitely feels great after the morning hike! Highly suggest this great taste of Costa Rica to experience the volcanic activity and the awesome Daphne.

Okay tour, not much of a "Volcano Hike" but enjoyed the waterfall and hot springs.

We were picked up at Planet Hollywood by a car and had a 30 minute car ride to meet up with the rest of the tour. We then joined their van to proceed on with the tour. The "volcano hike" was really just a hike through the woods and you stopped by some bubbling mud pots along the trail. It was a nice hike through the rain forest but don't expect much regarding a "volcano." The waterfall swim was refreshing. You walked down a trail and a flight of stairs and at a landing you placed all your belongs and went down a ladder to the water at the base of the waterfall. Then we went for lunch which was a delicious buffet style lunch. We finished the tour at the hot springs where you walked down a trail and went over hanging bridges. You were given the option to have a cup of volcanic mud to spread on your body and then rinse off in a shower or river after it dried. Then you could enjoy multiple hot spring pools with varying temperatures in each pool.

A great tour led by Kevin and our driver Johnny. The hike was informative, showing two different ecosystems through dry season. Impressive look outs to hot springs and volcano mud activities. The waterfall and bathing in the cool waters was just so perfect . Great tour of thermal baths- would have loved to have more time there. Overall great tour!

Amazing tour! Definitely worth the money. You get to see A LOT for what I feel is a low price. Three different stops, a guide, lunch, transportation and a good time. We did the shared transportation option and they picked us up on time, right at our hotel in Tamarindo. Kevin Piña and Johnny were AMAZING. Extremely kind and knowledgeable. You can tell they genuinely enjoy their job and getting to know the tourists. They were always willing to help and made sure you were okay. Food was super good with lots of options at La Hacienda Restaurant. My only complain is that I wish Native’s Way had suggested we bring binoculars for the forest hike. There was definitely bird watching we could have appreciated more. Other than that, listen to the suggestions they say to bring (bug repellent, towel, change of clothes, etc.) You will need it all. WARNING: this is not for the weak, injured, people in poor physical health or people with extreme fear of heights. There was a 3.5 mile hike that was 40% stairs. And to get to the waterfall, you had to walk through a long, tall, hanging bridge.

The scenery was beautiful, however our group was 15 plus the guide and it should have been no bigger than 7 or 8 total. 45 minutes late and a lot of confusion about what was happening when. Good lunch spot.

Hot but Fun Hike with Great Waterfall and Hot Springs

We had a really great time with our guide, Santos. He was very knowledgeable about all the flora and fauna we experienced throughout the day. We were able to see lots of wildlife such as capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, various lizards and birds, and were able to see a tapir close to the trail! The waterfall and hot springs were really cool and refreshing after the hot hike. A very fun experience!

Hiking on the Rincón de la Vieja was spectacular. The trail was good for all levels, even seniors. We saw spider and white-faced monkeys up close and heard a troop of howler monkeys. Our guide explained the geological structure and behaviour of this, and other nearby, volcanoes. She was very knowledgeable and informative. Interesting birds and iguanas, and much info about the vegetation, especially the trees, were revealed by our guide. AND a great lunch and very comfortable coach and good driver!

It was a hot day, 95 degrees and some of the hike is in direct sunllight. Pur guide was great, informative and freindly. We saw white faced and spider monkeys, iguanas and birds. Waterfall was fantastic, the ladder and rocks you walk on in the water are smooth and slippery so be prepared. The hot springs and mud bath was great.
