A Must Do!

We loved this tour.. Kristie was so informative, knowledgeable and enthusiastic! She took us to locations that we would have never known about with so much interesting history. The food portions at the amazing restaurants were very generous and delicious. We went back the next day to revisit one of the restaurants to try some other items on the menu. We even ended the tour at a beautiful cigar lounge/coffee shop with amazing coffee. My sister and I stayed and enjoyed a cigar... This is a must do!! We felt it was a great value. The area is very interesting, artsy, hip and we learned so much about the culture there. Kristie goes above and beyond and has such a passion for what she does.

Cindy was a fabulous guide! As a native of Tampa, she was very knowledgable and took time to answer all of our questions. The tour had a great pace so I think it would be good for all ages. The food was also tasty (and plentiful), so go hungry!

Having Kristie as our guide was a real bonus. From beginning to end, she regaled us with the history of Ybor City with many interesting anecdotes. The tour started right on time and it flew by too quickly as she led us through dining establishments where we munched happily on local ethnic foods. Do bring a small insulated bag for deelish leftovers. Never rushing us, Kristie allowed ample time for photos and gave us inside tips we wouldn’t have known about…... we highly recommend this tour.

I have attended many food tours in my life. I loved all of them except this one. It did not make any sense. We went to four restaurants that had nothing to do with the food scene in Ybor. While the tour guide seemed kind, this was not a good fit for his personality. He was too young, not well-spoken, and regularly used incorrect phrases. I feel bad about leaving this review. But these tours are expensive, and I don't want someone to spend their money and not enjoy the tour.

To address the food choices, we use the stops as platforms to speak of the 4 culture that make up Ybor City: The Cubans, Italians, Germans, & Spanish. While we have a variety of food in Ybor, we chose our stops to pair with the culture.. Foe example, we have Italian Calzones to represent Italy, Cuban Sandwiches to represent Cuba, and so on. While our tour guide is young, his scholastic knowledge of Ybor City has merited great reverence among our other seasoned tour guides. He is continuing to learn more and more each day. We welcome youthful, energetic young adults as it allows them the chance to grow as historians. A craft that is truly lacking in our world today. So we encourage his growth and are grateful for your patience as there may have been areas of concern. We give large portions of food and a lot of history on all tours. Longer than expected

The tour lasted more than 4 hours, so longer than expected. But it covered quite a bit of the history of a very interesting part of Tampa. There was more than enough food to eat and it was all delicious and interesting. We all took several "Togo" boxes home with us. We actually would have preferred smaller portions. But the food was served later in the tour (mid-afternoon, probably so the tour group wouldn't crowd out a restaurant's normal lunch- or dinner-hour crowds.) The restaurants included some of my favorite places in Ybor. The guide seemed knowledgeable of the history of the area. But during the food service she preferred to interact with her phone than with us.

You are correct about the timing of food arrivals. Ybor City is a lively town where most restaurants open at noon and stay open until morning hours. Lunch time at most locations can be quite full causing longer wait times on some days. Our tour guides communicate with all restaurants via cell to keep their staff aware of their proximity to help with timing. While it may have seemed she was on the phone for personal reasons, she was communicating with restaurant staff. Cindy led our tour yesterday and was a wealth of wonderful knowledge about this part of Tampa history. Half of the food choices were very large, but the restaurants were able to provide to go boxes. My 15yo son and I loved this and plan to seek out food tours on future vacations. Highly recommend.

I have been on many food tours around the world, and this was probably one of the most disappointing. The tour was supposed to take three hours. It took four hours because we had to wait for our food and every stop even though our guide told us that she would be texting the restaurants ahead of time to make sure everything was ready for us. It was hard to tell if it was the restaurants fault, or her fault. The history given on the tour was amazing and that was the most positive thing. There was three food stops, and they weren’t food tastings. They were almost full meals at every stop. It was entirely too much food and hard to enjoy Without feeling stuffed. More stops and Smaller bites would have been so much better.

Hi Lisa, we are so happy you immensely enjoyed the history part of our tour. In response to your request for smaller portions to more stops, we take time to showcase the historical parts of our National Historical town and would love to visit more eateries but time doesn't allow. Most of our restaurants are ma & pa shops lending smaller seating areas with longer wait times. Our tours are booked for 3 hours, which can go over for to the timing we arrive at each location and their capacity to accommodate us at that time. So it's quite difficult to increase our stops since our main goal is to give you the history of our town. We opted in giving fuller meals as well to make out tour worth monies spent while with us. We look forward to having you back on a future tour with us. So glad you enjoyed our Tour Guide, she's amazing@
