Step aboard the historic Rip Van Winkle and find a seat on one of the decks: choose between chairs in the lower, enclosed deck or bench seating in the upper, partially covered deck. Settle in for a cruise down the Hudson to Hyde Park, doubling back to return to Kingston.
Listen to your guide's engaging narration regarding the sights and landmarks on shore. Pass millionaires' sumptuous estates, sleepy riverside hamlets and quaint historic lighthouses. Relax and enjoy the refreshing river breeze. Be sure to bring your camera for great photo ops of the picturesque natural scenery along the river, including vineyards, orchards and views of the looming Catskill Mountains.
If you get hungry, head down to the lower deck's snack bar for a burger, hot dog or wrap. Alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages are available for purchase from the fully stocked bar. Restrooms are located on board for your convenience.

- The boat has a lower enclosed deck, a middle deck which is a shaded but otherwise open are, and an open air upper deck with bench seating.
- A fully stocked bar with alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages and a snack bar with light fare such as hot dogs & fresh popped popcorn is available on the lower main deck at your own expense.
- There is plenty of seating on the boat, both inside and on the upper deck, which consists mainly of bench-style seating; the main lower deck has chairs; seating is on a first-come first-served basis, so be sure to arrive early if you’d like to sit in a particular area of the boat
- Service animals allowed
- If you or someone in your group is in a wheelchair or has limited mobility, contact the tour operator to discuss accessibility

Things within their control were handled well. Not their fault that the trees were changing colors later than usual. Up close and personal looks at multiple lighthouses and riverside mansions, recorded and live narratives of area, reasonably priced snacks, indoor and outdoor seating options made for a very enjoyable experience. Convenient parking but get there early if you want the free parking. Area is walkable and historic. Lots to do, see, and eat in the area.

The boat tour cancelled the day before we were to go. We drove 750 miles to this location. Not good to ask for a rating when no tour was given.

We took the previous day the Solaris. I would recommend that. The trip was less than 90 min . It was impossible to here the taped commentary.

I lived in the Kingston area for the first 30 years of my life but never cruised the Hudson. The most enjoyable sights were the lighthouses, because they were really houses. I've seen lighthouses all over the world and they were nothing like these adorable colonial homes with a lighthouse on top. The sound system was less than perfect, so I missed most of the dialogue, but it was a calming experience and my sister and I enjoyed it.

It was a lovely day on the water. The information on the tour was enjoyable and fascinating. All of the people working on the boat were very helpful and kind and considerate. We all had a wonderful time.
