What To Expect

Eat and shop like a Japanese local during this immersive, food-themed trip inside Tokyo’s famous Tsukiji Market. If you want to get a sense of Japanese culinary culture, you couldn’t possibly start at a better place.

Meet up with your guide just outside the market’s main gate, in the morning. As you navigate your way through this labyrinth of all things seafood, learn from your guide about the market’s history and why many Japan’s top chefs visit here daily to pick up the freshest-quality ingredients. You never know what you might find as you stroll past the outer stalls of this amazing food center. You might see piles of sea urchin (uni) stacked neatly in boxes, watch as vendors carve massive Bluefin tuna or spot pufferfish floating in tanks.

With all this walking, you’re sure to work up an appetite. Luckily, you sample a tasty assortment of Japanese foodstuffs like sushi, Japanese-style omelets, Japanese tea, sake, fried fish cakes, and fresh oysters to help fuel your exploration.

Fascinating

Ash was a wonderful guide. Friendly, kind and knowledgable. His English was great. I was enthralled by the whole experience.
Highly recommended.

Fantastic tour. Our guide was great and really knowledgeable and friendly. Would absolutely do this again. It enabled us to get see things we may not have seen as a run of the mill tourist. And was able to buy some wonderful treats to take home!
Old is Still Excellent

The inside portion of the Fish Market. The cleanest and most impressive I have ever seen. One suggestion: Our guide was a young college student doing this as an internship to help him improve his English. He was a very nice and accomodating. However, his language was limited and, as a result, we felt that we did not learn as much about the market as we could have. Please make sure the guides speak better English.
Just go the market on your own and explore, tour not worth it
Jagroop_G, Apr 2024
It was a rainy day and that made it difficult but regardless the free food was mid except the peach mochi. The sushi bowl at the end was kinda gross with raw shrimp except for some of the fish. In the future, I would go to the market and explore myself and not pay for this tour. Our guide was Shawn and do not recommend him. At the first place we went we had to split a group of 7 into 2 groups and my group was separated and left to order by ourselves with no input or info from our guide. As we didn't speak Japanese we were confused and felt very lost. He also told us that he normally pays but was going to let us pay for ourselves as this meal is not included, which as weird. That peach mochi was delicious though and the only highlight of the trip.
Skip the tour but visit the market
Kate_G, Apr 2024
Seeing the market was a must but the tour was nothing unique that I couldn’t have discovered on my own. The guide took us around to the various stalls and pointed us to samples that were out for the entire public. The sushi lunch was fine but again, nothing I wouldn’t have found without the guide. Skip the tour and visit on your own for the same quality of experience.
Insightful tour of the market
Imran_M, Apr 2024
The market itself was great but very crowded towards the end of the tour. Naomi (our guide) was knowledgeable and looked after us all very well. We learnt a lot more about Japanese food and culture. It is worth noting there are not a lot of food samples so make sure you have a small breakfast before.
Fun and Filling
Jack_H, Apr 2024
We got lucky and had a tour by ourselves with Taichi and Noa (training) - both were excellent guides and very FUN to talk with. We saw everything and sampled great foods! I’d recommend and go as early as possible!!!
Needed tour of tsukji
Reem_P, Apr 2024
Really enjoyed this tour. It was crowded but we were able to go through almost all of the market and taste very interesting items. Our guide was wonderful. She told us a little about Buddhist traditions and was a great guide throughout. Had time afterwards to explore more. Would recommend!
Cool experience
Rachel_M, Apr 2024
A very cool experience to help you navigate the craziness of Tsukiji. Our guide Ryo was great and was very knowledgeable and helpful. Getting to go behind the scenes of some of the shops and taste test many different varieties of Japanese food was so fun.
Great Morning at Tsukiji Market

Great variety
Bridget_A, Mar 2024
Great tour and variety of food. It was nice to hear the history and specifics about the market. It also ends early enough that you can continue to explore on your own once the tour ends. I used this group for multiple tours while in Tokyo and I enjoyed each one. Very well organized!
Delicious and informative

Don’t miss Tokyo’s Fish Market
Joseph_F, Mar 2024
The entire experience of this very unique part of Tokyo. Distinguishes Tokyo from other cities of the world. If you are looking to do and experience something unique, do the fish market.
Great tour with Mutsuko
Jack_T, Mar 2024
Brilliant tour with Mutsuko who was great fun, provided so much information and answered all our questions. All the food was great and ended up buying a lot from the market for the rest of our trip. It's a lot to eat so don't eat breakfast before!
Impossible without guide
Deborah_D, Mar 2024
It would not have been possible to access the fish market experience fully without a guide. The crowded chaos would have been daunting but instead it was a fun adventure. In addition to several food stops we had time in a Buddhist temple and a Shinto shrine. Our guide Lana was first rate, friendly and knowledgeable.
Great tour, great guide!
Barbara_M, Mar 2024
My guide, Yuki, was incredibly knowledgeable and a fantastic guide. The fish market is a must see! Such a fun tour... Thank you Yuki!!
Shout out to Nobu!
Jeff_S, Mar 2024
Nobu made this tour so great. It was very organized and I enjoyed all the little touches she added to the trip, like letting us try the rare white strawberries. Thanks Nobu!
Delightful food and culture tour
JoAnn_S, Mar 2024
This tour was a lovely mix of cultural education and food sampling. Our guide, Monami (French for my friend) was a soft/spoken, gracious woman who led our compatible group of six from a temple where she taught us how to pray in proper Buddhist style to the "outer market" where we sampled such varied foods as fish cakes, sake, and mochi and toured a tiny factory making delectable Japanese omelets, which we sampled. The tour included a sit down sushi lunch in a traditional restaurant where we had to follow protocol and remove our shoes. After a tour of a shrine that was very much in restoration we finished with a visit to the professional fish market, a place of hushed, pristine propriety where photos and loud talk are not allowed. We found this tour, Monami, and our companions delightful, and highly recommend it as a highlight of visiting Tokyo.
