What To Expect

Your day starts early with pickup in central Tokyo. Take in the scenery as you depart Tokyo for a 2.5-hour drive to Mt Fuji, Japan’s highest mountain.

Proceed by coach to Mt Fuji’s 5th Station that is located at 7,545 feet (2,300m) about halfway up the mountain and offers another vantage point for Mt Fuji and the surrounding lakes (subject to weather conditions). The 5th Station also features shrines, torii gates, souvenir shops, and perhaps a few climbers completing their preparations for their ascent.

Then have time to enjoy Japanese-style lunch (if you select the "+ Lunch" option at checkout). Otherwise, you have the option to buy your own meal before departure. Then drive to Lake Ashi, located nearby in Hakone National Park. Admire the pretty scenery as you take a short cruise across the lake, which is surrounded by mountains including Mt Fuji and Mt Komagatake.

Then journey to the top of Mt Komagatake on the Mt Komagatake Ropeway, an aerial tram that lifts off from the shores of the lake and takes you up Mt Komagatake in an enclosed cabin with 360-degree views. When you reach the summit, enjoy time to take in views over Lake Ashi and Mt Fuji. You can also take a short stroll along one of the walking trails at the mountain top.

After visiting Mt Komagatake, transfer by coach to the evening bullet train (Shinkansen) for your return to Tokyo Station.

Traveler Tips

It's very windy when you are on the 5th station so take a jacket!
This tour can be a bit rushed due to how much is being done in the one day, so if you really want to spend a bit more time at each place it might require a 2 day tour.
If you have mobility issues better to team up with another couple and share the cost of a taxi, though taxis in a Japan are expensive, but overall fantastic day

Wonderful Experience for Family
Sameka_T, Mar 2024
Wonderful experience. We went with our children and elderly mothers. Mount Fuji with good weather was breathtaking. The cruise was and Mt Komagatake was the best Definitely take the gondola lift to the top. The guides were very nice and helpful. The kids enjoyed the bullet train back.
No Fuji, but still recommended.
David_D, Mar 2024
More and less than what I expected. Chances of seeing the top of Fuji is “30%,” we were told. Only “2 days a week” average can you see the mountain top. Cloudy days are bad. Springtime when the snow as not melted and you can’t get up past the first stop is bad. So didn’t really get what I wanted… BUT the boat and gondola ride were great. The guide was fantastically helpful and informative. The lunch was interesting and the bullet-train ride was fun. Flexible return ticket allowed me to spend a few hours in Odawara and see the castle there too. Despite not seeing Fuji, the day was enjoyable and I’d recommend the tour—worth the price.
No concern for the paying clients!!!
Pierre_M, Mar 2024
Mt Fuji which was the destination for our tour was covered by clouds and not visible during our stop there. However, on our way back it became partly visible for a few minutes, BUT our guide did NOT want to pull over at all to stop, so we could have a quick look (and we were not yet on the highway!!!).
Phenomenal trip

Phenomenal trip. Well laid out and easy. Our guide, Shin, was great. Would highly recommend the trip.
Too rushed.
Angela_A, Mar 2024
Tour guide was good, a little rushed at one stage we did get lost. Due to fog part of the rope ride - cable was shorted but had not been told lucky we did not go into it to the end when we had been lost.
Great way to see Fuji!
VIJAL_P, Mar 2024
Sky was a great tour guide and this trip is definitely worth it. You see a lot in one day, iconic views of the area.
Well organized tour
Andreia_E, Mar 2024
Sadly we couldn't see the fuji because of the weather conditions, but I am sure if the weather was good this tour would work perfectly fine. It was everything well organised, our guide Harumi was really really nice and told us a lot about Mount Fuji and Japan. The lunch was also quite nice and they even had a show. If I come bake to Japan and the weather is good, I will certainly book this tour again.
Avoid this tour, do it on your own, its easy
Madelyne, Mar 2024
Very poor company. They knew that there were avalanche warning and gake force wings before we left but refused to cancel the tour. Instead, they told us on the bus we wouldn't see Mt Fuji, so they took us to historical centre, then we went in boat to Hakone En but instead of Ropeway as it was too windy, we git dumped to look around shops. The bento lunch was terrible was served in a hall like school camp. Worst $520 we spent. Very poor travel company fir not having back up plans if they refuse to refund you.
Bullet Train Ride
JudithSmith_S, Mar 2024
The bullet train ride was fun and fast. The train was quiet and smooth. Most of the rest of the trip was canceled due to the westher and snow on the road.
A well planned and executed tour
Runbir_S, Mar 2024
Easy location and good reception to start the tour. The guide Joe was funny and gave very timely and understandable explanations. Unfortunately, the Fuji 5th station was closed but overall experience was great.
Great time
Robert_I, Mar 2024
My. Fuji. Bullet train was fast. Recommend waiting on platform and experiencing another billet train go by. The only part of the trip was after arriving back in Tokyo, directions broke down. We ended up asking questions of another tour guide and she gave us directions.
Terrible experience
Darryl_Y, Mar 2024
Could visit Mt. Fuji and the boat ride nothing to write home about. We just went around from one dock to another not seeing anything. When it came time to finish the tour, the tour guide Joe wan not that helpful in helping you get back to your hotel and never explained the ticket situation. All he said go luck. Leaving some in the busy Tokyo train station confused is not an experience I wish on anyone. I don’t recommend this tour and most definitely not this guide.
We were fortunate to have...
KEITH_B, Mar 2024
We were fortunate to have a lovely sunny day for this visit which allowed us to have great view of Mt Fuji and take some amazing photographs, the staff were very informative and extremely helpful especially at the end when everyone was disembarking the bullet train and trying to find their way out of Tokyo station to make their way back to their relevant hotel
Excellent , exciting and memorable one.
Marieta_G, Mar 2024
Seeing Mt. Fuji, the Japanese lunch,Rodeway , Hakone Lake Ashi cruise and riding a bullette train actually retty much all of it.
Good but too rushed.
Cecil_J, Mar 2024
Th sites and historical context were nice, but the experience was too rushed. I would have preferred one or two few activities in exchange for more time at the others! Seems like we were being herded from one place to the next without time to enjoy each stop.
Check the weather before you go
audrey_s, Mar 2024
Our tour guide Ken was great, very informative and helpful however it rained the entire day so the trip was a waste of time. We were supposed to go to a higher station to see Mt Fuji but only went to 1 and there was nothing to see. Instead we were taken to a museum of Mt Fuji which was ok, nothing great. We purchased the lunch option and it was horrible. All the busses are ushered into this banquet hall and served a terrible meal. The chicken, veggies and rice were cold. The soup was extremely salty and I couldn’t figure out what the dessert was. There was a drum performance which was nice. The boat ride was nice but the tram was pointless, you couldn’t see anything and it was muddy. The tour should cancel/reschedule for n days like this. Not fair to the tourist. We spent a lot of time on the bus for nothing.
Lucky enough to get great...
Peter_L, Mar 2024
Lucky enough to get great views of Mt. Fugi and Hiro, the guide, was great - lots of detail and good visual aids.
Awesome Mt Fuji
Mandy_M, Mar 2024
Fabulous experience, awesome view, check weather forecast to ensure you pick a clear & sunny day for best chance to see the mountain!
Great trip would recommend
Roseanna_B, Mar 2024

Mt. FUJI

Seeing Mount Fuji up close was very impressive! You don't realize the size and height of it until you have been there. Also really enjoyed the bullet train ride back to Tokyo.
