Start your day's adventure in Ocho Rios with pickup from your Falmouth hotel. Travel eastward on the Jamaican coast in an air-conditioned minivan to the urban heart of Ocho Rios, where you can witness the urban bustle of local daily life.
Continue through the rainforest to an area known as Fern Gully. Here, the road is lined with hundreds of species of ferns. The origin of this phenomenally verdant place is unknown, but many theorize it was originally a cave fed by an underground river that subsequently collapsed. Disembark the bus and take an easy 2-mile hike through the forest that has been written about by greats such as Antonio Gallenga, Lady Brassey and Marianne North.
Back on the tour vehicle, set out on the road with views of the azure Caribbean Sea for the country's famous Dunn's River Falls. Composed of terraced steps reaching 180 feet tall (54 meters) high and 600 feet (183 meters) wide, this popular attraction is an easy climb with your guide. Stop to cool off in one of the many individual pools and enjoy fantastic views of the surrounding landscape from the top.
After working up your appetite with outdoor adventures, eat lunch at one of Jamaica's famous jerk centers. Dig in to delicious chicken and pork along with an icy Red Stripe beer or tropical fruit drinks (own expense). Stop at a few craft stores and local shops for some souvenirs before heading back to your hotel in Falmouth for drop-off.
