The guides and Sami hosts we so kind and friendly. Everything stayed on schedule. This was truly a fantastic experience all the way around! Plenty of time to see, feed, and take pics with/of the reindeer. The sled ride was a unique experience, but the dinner in the Sami lodge by the fire was unforgettable. The reindeer stew was cooked over the fire, plenty of hot drinks to warm up with, and only 25 min outside the city. Highly recommended. My only suggestion is the reindeer are out in droves and could be overwhelming for small kids.

We did not do reindeer...
Julie_D, Mar 2024
We did not do reindeer sledding which was very disappointing. Instead we fed reindeer. Due to camp fire inside when having dinner our clothes were smelling really bad of smoke.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear Julie, Thank you for visiting us and sharing a review! We are very sorry that we couldn't offer the sledding experience during your visit. It has been cancelled due to icy roads on that day and the safety risks it poses to our guests and the reindeers. Safety of the experience is our utmost priority, therefore we unfortunately had to cancel the sledding. On such occasions we always inform our guests in advance, and there are alternatives to join the tour without the sledding and receive a partial refund or to cancel completely and receive a full refund. We are again very sorry to hear that your experience at our camp has been underwhelming, and we would like to discuss the matter further with you. Please feel free to contact us at info@tromsoarcticreindeer.com, we would be happy to hear from you. Greetings from Tromsø, and we wish you a happy Easter!
We like Sami and reindeer they are friends
Larry_C, Mar 2024
Now this is a fun night! Reindeer pull you on a two person sled with a warm blanket over you. You get nose to nose with them and after, you get to feed them from a bucket. We then took pictures of the Northern lights and boy were they dancing. Food and drink followed of course in a huge lavuu. We learned about the Sami culture and heard their folk stories and they sang to us. This tour is a wonderful adventure. Oh one thing, make sure you keep your head back while feeding raindeer.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear Larry, Thank you for your excellent review! We are thrilled to hear that you had such a fun evening at our camp! It was a pleasure to have you with us and it's great to hear that you enjoyed spending time with our reindeers and even got to see the magnificent Aurora ✨ Welcome back, we look forward to welcoming you again in the future!

Fun time with the Reindeer
tnthawkinson, Mar 2024
The beginning of the tour was a bit chaotic with the Checkin and getting in the bus. Once we got to the reindeer camp everything was great. We had perfect weather and the northern lights were out. Fun feeding the reindeers and a short ride. The meal was great as was the presentation by Sami women. I recommend this tour.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear guest, Thank you for a wonderful review and a recommendation! We are happy to hear that you had such a great time with our reindeers and enjoyed learning more about the Sami culture. Welcome back! 🦌
A night with the Sami/ reindeers
Bachphuong_W, Mar 2024
This is the program. 1. Pick up passenger by the cruiseship port. A bit disorganized, but worked out at the end 2. Arrived at the camp. We were ushered into the Sami house, to be greeted and oriented. 3. Reindeer sleigh around the camp. Dress warm! 4. Fed the Reindeers. They love to eat. You can pet them till your heart contents 5. Hot drinks were provided with cookies. 6. The lights were turned off for us to see the borealis northern lights. 7. Dinner is served. Smoked salmon salad, Reindeer stew, and chocolate Cake ( no alcoholic beverage allowed) 8. The sami ladies gave a talk about Sami life.
Response from Host, Mar 2024

Wonderful experience getting to feed the reindeers and going on a slow sled ride. The guides are really wonderful and advise you clearly on how to act around the reindeer. It was also great to learn about the Sami cultural and understand the deeper history. The food was good and vegetarian options available

Get to know the Sami people and the reindeers
Laura_A, Feb 2024
Getting to know the Sami people and their history is great, and after knowing that not much of poppe know about them, I spread the word to people to go and meet them and their culture. We fed the reindeers and we had a slow round of reindeer sledding. I thought we would be more outside the camp but it was just a (circle) trip inside the land where the camp is. But it was worth it very calming. We had snacks and hot drinks and then we ate salmon salad, reindeer stew and a chocolate cake. We listened afterwards to the history of the Sami people and how they used to live with the reindeers, and how they live now. There were no northern lights though, but the whole experience was amazing.
Response from Host, Mar 2024

I had a great experience! Food was scrumptious, reindeer were very friendly and staff very kind! Very informative presentation around the fire, learned quite a bit about the sámi culture and people. The sledding was also very enjoyable and quite relaxing. Hearing a joik was also a great experience! I will gladly return in the future for this experience (and I hope to be able to do so)!

Reindeer and Auroras
Quinton_T, Jan 2024
This was the best thing we did by far during our trip to Norway. The reindeer were fun, the dinner was tasty, and the Sami were informative. Best of all, the aurora showed up.

Disappointing, not worth the money and the time
Rustam_Y, Dec 2023
This tour should be named a traditional dinner and a talk, with a short reindeer sledge ride. The tour is 4.5 hours, of which the drive to the location and back takes 15mins each way, so you are left with 4 hours for the activities. The reindeer ride is supposed to be 15-20mins. Unfortunately, one of sledges broke down during our ride, and since they are all attached to each other we had to wait for someone to come, detach it, reattach the remaining ones, for our ride to continue. You would have thought that the time it took would be added to the duration of our ride. Nope. Apologies were made, but the person in charge just decided to make up the lost time at our expense and rode back to the waiting point to pick up the next group. All-in-all we spent 15mins on the sledges, of which at least 5 were wasted sitting there while they were resolving the issue. Add to it the interruption, and you can imagine that the experience was completely ruined for us. It is beyond me why the ‘driver’ chose to do that, given that there was plenty of time for everyone else to ride. Why not make it a 20 min ride and let people enjoy it after the breakdown? All the more baffling because the rest of the evening was really dragged out. Dinner took over an hour, and while the traditional building with the fireplace was nice and cosy, one hardly needed to spend that much time there to enjoy it. It got really boring in the end. The talk was fun as well but it was also half an hour. Reindeer feeding was also about half an hour at least, waiting for all the rides to finish. There were way too many people, I’d say around 70. The location was too close to the city, with the lights on all sides, so hardly any chance of seeing aurora. The ride was on a flat plateau, just going in a circle. The sledges were uncomfortable, basically like bed slats covered with just one thin reindeer skin, and a blanket on top. I would not want to be doing it on a really cold snowy day! On top of that, it was cut short. Can’t tell you how annoyed I was. People were nice, but it was so impersonal and obvious that nobody cared about us having a good experience. Super disappointed to have spent our last night in Tromso this way.
