What To Expect

Discover subterranean landscapes that are part of the world’s third-longest underground river system on this half-day tour from Playa del Carmen. Enjoy an exhilarating swim as you explore a cenote, an underground pool of crystal-clear water. On the Yucatan Peninsula, rainwater seeps through porous limestone rock into cenotes and underground rivers in search of an outlet to the sea. As each drop falls into caverns, stunning rock formations are created.

Continue to Yal Ku, a lagoon where the warm waters from the sea combine with fresh water from underground rivers, creating a special snorkeling environment. Caves and valleys are part of your underwater scenery. Located in a protected cove, the lagoon is a great place for beginning snorkelers and the more experienced alike.

When you’re done with snorkeling, walk about the manicured pathways surrounding the lagoon. Your tour includes hotel pickup and drop-off from select locations.

So many fish to see while snorkeling. Underground cenote was fascinating. Our tour guide Rodrigo and driver Carlos took care of everyone on the trip. Great way to spend 1/2 a day on the Mayan Riviera.

The tour guide was very good, very well spoken and knew his stuff.. the excursion was great and wel maintained
Nice but not great value for money

This was a nice tour. Our guide Angel was great. The group didn’t talk to each other at all which I thought was odd. The snorkeling at the first cenote was nice. Gentle and easy. Some pretty fish to see and noice surroundings. We are pretty spoilt as we swim most days at home with sharks, turtles, stingrays and lots of different fish. Definitely not as much sea life in the cenote. We then went to the underground cenote which was great to see but I must have misunderstood as I thought we would be snorkeling there as well. It was more a float through experience. You couldn’t take any photos or videos but you could buy a “photo package” for USD70. This is a ridiculous price when you might be happy to pay for 1 photo. Then on top the guide asks for tips for himself and the driver. Makes for an expensive few hours especially on the Australian Dollar. Nice experience but not necessarily worth the price.

The water was pretty cold. It was beautiful but the professional photographer pictures were all blurry. Boo. Other than that we think it was great. Nacho was definitely the best part of the trip and absolutely awesome to work with
Fun in the water

This was a great event and on we'll remember for a long time to come. We were picked up at our hotel on time and in a clean vehicle. Our driver was good and with ease got us to where we picked up the rest of the tour participants as well as our guide, Santiago. He was easy to talk with and had a very lighthearted attitude. It was a little bit windy that day and the tall sprinter van got buffeted around a little bit, but we made good time getting to the private cenote we would be traveling through. I would recommend sitting on the lower seats if you go since the unimproved road going back to the cenote was pretty rough and caused some of the participants to feel just a little uneasy. Once we got there we took a quick shower to get rid of the sunscreen residue (common request for water activities out here) and walked down the well maintained steps to the cenote. It was a lot cooler as we descended and getting in the water was awesome. In most places you could touch and bob along with ease, as Santiago guided us through pointing out interesting facts about the wonders around us. We went into a smaller chamber and extinguished all the lights which was.....dark. Very, very dark. And awesome. No phones or other recording devices allowed since the owners want you to buy their photos, but still a cool experience to have. We climbed back in the van and drove to Paradise Lagoon for our snorkeling. It was really windy on the short walk down so we knew we were going to be a little challenged to just float without being blown off course. But the water temperature was just about right and we stayed with our group pretty easily. There were no shortages of fish to observe and the water clarity was very good. Goggles and snorkels were in good repair and easy to put on. Santiago did a great job of keeping everyone together but also allowing us to meander on our own. Once we got out the wind dried us off pretty quickly, if not just a little bit colder than we would have liked. There were restrooms available where we could change so nearly everyone opted to get out of their swimgear and into dry clothes for the drive back home. Overall this was a really cool experience and one I'd highly recommend to anyone taking similar tours.
Magical Experience
laura_m, Jan 2024
This was a great half day tour. Our guide Jessica was so amazing and the cenote tour was magical and a true once in a lifetime experience. I would have liked more time at the lagoon for snorkeling or lounging around a bit, it seems a bit short but the nice thing was we had the whole rest of the day to lounge on the beach.
Thanks for making my moms day!

Thank you Jesus and Jose for a great tour! Pick up was on time with 4 groups on the tour all very quick stops. The cenote is operated by cancun adventures alone note no pictures will be allowed on this stop but available for purchase by their own photographers for 70 USD. It was a little cold (visit late jan) so consider or you want to wear full sleeve swimwear. I’d encourage swim shoes if you have them as the cenote is shallow and rocky in some parts. Lagoon has more slippery rocks due to algae on them. Thank so much Jesus for helping my mom as it was her time snorkelling and her birthday wish.
Beautiful and fun excursion!

This was a great excursion! Our guide was Celia and she was wonderful! She was full of energy and fun and made the excursion so enjoyable! She was knowledgeable and friendly and fun to be with! Our driver Armando was great! Very nice and took good care of us. He and Celia made a great team. The excursion was fun, the cenote was amazing. We spend about 30 min in there and it was plenty. They take pics inside and you can buy them at the end. Def worth it! The snorkeling was fine, we saw some fish in the lagoon but not a ton. We stayed in Playa Mujeres so it was about a 2 hour drive. It was a long commute but worth it. They provided us with snacks and water which was nice. Overall a wonderful excursion and would def recommend it!!!
Amazing Cenote Experience
Doug_H, Dec 2023
We really enjoyed the snorkeling in the lazy river and especially enjoyed spending time in the underground cenote.
Great experience
Yvonne_L, Dec 2023
This is a great choice if you choose to just relax and take it easy, not hitting like 5 places in one day, you spend a fair amount of time in each location, where I saw many other tours just leave like after 10 mins. The snorkeling is the highlight where you see so many fishes and the water conditions is very clean and clear. You get to learn the eco system as well on the cenote which is really educational

Absolutely amazing!!

Amazing! Jessica Plata was our tour guide and she was beyond great! We learned about cenotes and Mayan history, while having an amazing time. The lagoon was beautiful and such an fantastic experience, but the cenote was even better. Can't recommend enough. Big shout out to our driver Victor as well! Everyone was so nice and helpful. We were a group of 9 and all agree this was the best tour we've ever been on.
Cenote fantastico

We are went snorkeling in the warm rain. Never have done that at all. The cenote cave was very interesting. Our tour guide shares history that we never heard of. Now my husband and I wants to learn about the Mayans Ruins and Cenote:
Great Tour

Loved this tour! Our guide Mark was awesome. Very knowledgeable. The cenote was beautiful and lagoon snorkeling was great.
Awesome half day trip - definitely magical!
Megan_S, Oct 2023
This outing was our favorite - everything was on time and the guide, Enrique, was awesome. He’s very entertaining and funny, and is pretty incredible at remembering names, which made the trip feel more personal and welcoming. OMG the cenote was better than our expectations and was like the ultimate cave tour. Water is chilly though! We also enjoyed the snorkeling in the lagoon - earlier in the week we had attempted a snorkeling trip on the ocean, got seasick pretty fast and had to bail early. This location is very serene and calm, with warm water and lots of fish to see. Highly recommend this tour - plus it’s a half day so you still get time to hit the beach and hang out at your hotel all afternoon. Really great, thank you to all of the staff!
Not the experience that is described on the page

no photos were allowed. the tour bus was packed to the brim. There was no food provided but there was not even any for purchase. When we booked we booked at 9am pick up but got a response for pick up at 6:35am. We were "swimming: in the cenote before 9am. We went to a lagoon not the ocean for snorkeling and there were no fish outside of "dory" to see. This was an expensive tour for what was actually provided. Disappointing for sure.
Awesome

Daniel did an amazing job of guiding us through the lagoon and magical cenote. He was very personable and knowledgeable about the area. The magical cenote was one of our favorite experiences in Tulum.
Magical in an understatement
Rut_B, Aug 2023
Our tour guide was Brandon and he was excellent. He had us hustle to get ahead of the other tour groups when we got to the cenote so we can explore all of the rooms inside without feeling rushed. There were 3 different groups on this tour and Brandon made sure everyone got enough attention to have a great experience. Be aware that taking personal pictures in not allowed inside the cenote. There are 2 photo stations inside where someone will take your pic, and the pics can be purchased afterwards.
