If you are meeting at our 999 Canada Place location, meet us at 30 minutes prior to tour departure time. Luggage transfer to hotel is not available. We do not drop off at Vancouver International Airport. Gray Line Westcoast Sightseeing will pick up from select downtown Vancouver hotels. Please provide the hotel information at the time of booking. Guests must contact Gray Line Westcoast Sightseeing by 5 pm the night prior to departure to confirm pick up location and time.
What To Expect
This full-day trip from Vancouver to Vancouver Island begins in the morning. Meet at a central departure point in Vancouver, or request hotel pickup. After seamlessly transferring by shuttle to the ferry port, you’ll hop aboard and set sail. Head onto the deck to soak up views of the Gulf Islands, look out for wildlife like eagles and whales, and otherwise immerse yourself in British Columbia’s spectacular scenery over the 90-minute journey.
Upon arrival at Swartz Bay terminal, travel by comfortable vehicle with your guide to Butchart Gardens: One of the most popular attractions on the island. With included admission, you’ll skip any lines and head right into the National Historic Site. Have enough time to admire the scenery, and learn stories about the landmark that you wouldn’t encounter on your own.
Next, transfer to Victoria: the capital of British Columbia. You’ll have two hours to stroll its Inner Harbour, see vibrant neighborhoods like Chinatown, stop for a bite, and more—the itinerary is up to you, so see what interests you most.
Finally, embark on a late-afternoon ferry back to Vancouver, with transit back to your start point. There, the tour ends.

Our tour guide, Anthony, was exceptional! Very knowledgeable, humorous and very accommodating. The ferry was one of the nicest I have ever been on. Beautiful scenery but nothing prepares you for Butchart Gardens beauty. It is a MUST see. The sunken garden with it’s vibrant colors is beyond words.

The ferry was great! Food on the ferry ok. The tour guide was professional and personable! Andy is very knowledgeable and we really felt comfortable with him. Butchart gardens is very pristine and beautiful. The visit to Victoria was short but good. It feels “European” there! Other worldly. Will have to go back. With the ferry ride back at sunset it was such a great day!

Andrea was AWESOME! She was kind, thoughtful, and took care of everyone on the bus. The trip was so fun. The gardens were blooming spectacularly. Here's a tip.. If you want to do high tea in Victoria, send them a note in advance to find out when you'll be there. Then you can make a reservation at the empress hotel or one of the other few places for high tea. You can also do high tea at the gardens. But it all needs a reservation... So fun and totally worth it!

Anthony our tour guide was wonderful. He had a lot of knowledge of the area and added extra facts to the tour. The gardens and the trip to Victoria was worth the price.

Loved the sense of humour and the commentary by the vehicle driver and guide, Herman. He gave some valuable tips which enabled us to visit and see the important places. Herman, with his presence at the appropriate times, gave confidence that he is there for us.
A suggestion - instead of two hours at Victoria, a visit to Elk Lake / Beaver Lake would have given more time with nature and probably an opportunity to see some deer(s).

Long day which we knew, but not enough time in Victoria. The gardens are okay but I would skip to spend more time in the city.

Herman, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The ferry ride was enjoyable with beautiful scenery along the way. Butchart gardens was spectacular and it was the perfect time of year to see all the spring blooms (end of March). Victoria itself was a bit disappointing as there wasn’t much to see there other than shops and restaurants. It’s a city, like any other city. The gardens made the trip worthwhile though.

Collected from my hotel, which is always a plus for me in a new city - the driver and guide Andrea (apologies if the spelling is incorrect) was wonderful. A steady, calm and careful driver and an excellent guide, very articulate, not prone to the "ummms and ahhhs" of many. She was considerate of the needs of a family travelling with us who had a very young child with them, always greeted us with a smile and a "welcome back", kept us informed of all the special interest points. She was wonderful and a credit to the firm.
The tour itself - absolutely fantastic. The trip from downtown Vancouver to the BC ferry terminal, Andrea provided a running commentary of the history of each area. The 90 minute ferry ride was a great opportunity to see the surrounding country and watch for whales and other marine life. Butchart Gardens were bursting with spring flowers, the perfume of which is intoxicating. We have plenty of time to wander around and see the gardens. The drive from the gardens into Victoria was again, accompanied by a running commentary on the history of the area. Andrea provided advice and directions about where to see the best views of Victoria, where to possibly go for lunch, what restaurants and cafe's previous guests had complemented.
The trip back on the ferry was a peaceful end to a lovely day - travelling back into Vancouver as the sun set and the moon rose over the water was spectacular.
I would definitely recommend this tour - you will not be disappointed.
