Overview
We are located in Vieques, an offshore island of Puerto Rico, you need to arrive at the island of Vieques from the mainland by ferry or airplane and you will need to stay in Vieques overnight as it will not be possible for you to return to the mainland the same day. Paddle through the waters of the BioBay, a luminescent bay outside of Vieques, on this nighttime kayaking tour. With provided kayaking equipment and instruction, simply follow your guide through the florescent waters and and learn about this natural phenomenon. Choose between an early or late evening tour; note that you must stay overnight on Vieques Island (not included).

Meet us 10 minutes before your tour start hour at THE GAZEBO located in front of Trade Winds Restaurant Esperanza in Vieques. If your tour is at 9 pm, meet at 8:50pm. The ferry/plane times and instructions on how to get tickets to Vieques island are explained on www.viequesferrytickets.com.

Head to Vieques at your leisure, but make sure you give yourself enough time to meet your guide and fellow travelers at Trade Winds Restaurant Esperanza at Vieques half an hour before the start of your tour.
From here, take a bus to the Bioluminescent Bay, where you'll hop on a kayak and head out into a mangrove. You'll reach a beach around sunset, where you'll have a bit of time to hang out on the shore and take in the views.
Then get back into your kayak to start your trip back. As the sky grows darker, the glow of the phosphorescent microorganisms that give the bay its nickname will grow more vibrant, creating a shimmer with each paddle. Learn about the science behind this ecosystem as you paddle back to your launch point.

- For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
- Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
- Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

The whole tour was perfect, the host was extremely knowledgeable with facts about Mosquito Bay. Very carefully planned and safe. The glowing waters were incredible! I would recommend if you haven’t made transportation arrangements on the island, do so way before hand. All rentals auto, golf cart and moped were completely booked the day we went. Also take CASH! Taxi’s only accept CASH. We were almost to the point of walking back to our house way after dark and past curfew because I only had cards. The owner of the company took care of us though.

It was a great excursion. Dion was our guide and he was great. He was funny but also super informative. You could tell he really knew the environment and it was important to him.

If I could give zero stars I would! To start there was not enough room on the bus for everyone who had paid for the tour. A couple actually didnt go due to that. Then during the tour the guide lost his paddle and we had to rescue it. Not joking. But to cap off the entire experience, There were people on the tour who had never kayaked before. And the guide literally left them behind!! We had to actually rescue an entire boat with a family and a small child in it. We were all left behind in the pitch black, no moon, bay of the ocean!
All alone, we had to find our way back without our guide and towing this other family. By the time we got back to shore our guide and the rest of the tour was already back to the vans getting ready to leave. I would absolutely not recommend booking with this company. Not only did we have a terrible time but the responsibility or lack thereof was absolutely mind blowing.

Tour guide did not show up to communicate the tour was cancelled. We waited in the rain at night. He was unreachable by phone or text since then. I do not recommend this tour at all. You might find yourself traveling to VIEQUES for this and end up stranded.l and empty handed.

It’s a unique and wonderful experience. Service was great. Would be better with clear kayaks. Need to fix the pavement to the bay. It’s insanely bad. Also, getting inside the kayaks could be improved for the experience to be perfect.

Having never kayaked I was a bit nervous but the guide Adele kept track of us and the other kayakers did too! The bioluminescence was spectacular! Kids and adults all loved it

My mind is blown ! Initially I thought it was going to be like the aurora which is not much visible to naked eye but visible to camera sensor however this was out of the world experience ! The microbe sparkle on you hand and die is the sad part :(

The experience was amazing but the tour operation was dismal. Last tour of the night and they were running late. My group was fortunate to be notified, but other groups not so much. Left an hour behind schedule and as to be expected finished on time. This meant our 1.5 hour tour was only about thirty minutes in total. Great experience just wish we had more time. Don’t book the last tour of the night.

I was disappointed. First, the staff will not follow the timing, and they are not responsive. I booked the tour at 7 pm, but they took us at 8:20 pm, reached the dark place at 8:45, and started the Kayaking around 9 pm. I would not recommend this place because the roads are bumpy and muddy, and there is no small light once you get there; it is too dark, and you don't know where you came and standing. The kayaking experience is good, but the water is not glowing great, not even 10% of what we saw in the photos. If you don't other places to watch in San Juan, you can skip it here.
