Stretching along the banks of a coastal lagoon, the Maya ruins of Muyil are undeniably photogenic and less visited than the nearby sites of Tulum and Coba. Dominated by the steep-walled, 56-foot-tall (17-meter-tall) El Castillo, one of the region’s tallest pyramids, the Muyil ruins are an example of Peten architecture, similar to Tikal in Guatemala.

Best part of our visit to Tulum
This was by far my favorite part of our visit to Tulum. While the Muyil ruins were interesting, I really enjoyed the visit to the Sian Ka'an, boating and floating through the lagoon and canals. Beautiful and peaceful. The authentic lunch was also nice and our tour guide and driver were great (Jocelin and Robert).

Floating down the canal in Sian Ka'an hands down. Amazingly clear water, unusual fauna. Our boat driver was so much fun, flying along through the cut between the 2 lagoons.

Excellent guide, outstanding experience.
I have been birding for 50 years, but this is the first time I have used a professional guide. The experience was outstanding! Miguel is extremely knowledgeable of the local birds, and knows most of them by sound. The experience was 10 times better than going alone. I have 800 species on my life list, and added 24 in one day. Highly recommended.

Amazing Experience
Martin was such a great guide who was extremely passionate about the conservation of the biosphere and Tulum in general. He had lots of great knowledge to share and I appreciated his honestly about the impacts that tourism have had on the local environment. The float down the Sian Ka’an was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done and it will be something that I remember for a lifetime. I did this tour as a solo female and met wonderful people on the tour. Worth every penny!!!
