Come down to the Phillip Island Circuit on race days to experience the scenic track at its best and take in the action from one of numerous spectator viewpoints. You can also visit the History of Motorsport Display, which features an extensive collection of motorbikes and cars. Alternatively, explore the circuit on a guided tour, including the Control Tower, the Media Centre, the Pit Lane, the Pit Roof, and the winner’s podium. The most fun is a ride on the Phillip Island Go Kart track, a replica of the original circuit that also affords magnificent views across the Bass Strait.
Motorcyclists can also bring their bikes and drive on the actual circuit during special Ride Days, held on select dates throughout the year.
There’s a visitor center, café, gift shop, and restrooms at the Phillip Island Circuit.
Admission fees apply for the History of Motorsport Display, as well as for guided tours and activities.
Many areas of the circuit are accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.
The Phillip Island Circuit is located along Back Beach Road along the south-central coast of Phillip Island. It’s about a 10-minute drive from Cowes or Newhaven. There’s no public transport on Phillip Island, so you’ll need your own transport or to visit as part of a tour.
Major events at the Phillip Island Circuit include the Superbike World Championships (February), the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix (October), and Phillip Island Auto Racing Club’s Island Magic (November), and spectators tickets are hotly sought-after. The Go-Kart track is open daily, but sessions must be reserved beforehand.
Go-karting isn’t the only way to get your adrenaline fix on Phillip Island. You can also take a surf class at YCW Beach, go off-road on a mountain bike tour of Churchill Island, or enjoy sea kayaking around Cape Woolamai. For the best views, take to the skies for a thrilling helicopter ride or zip around the island on a jet boat ride.
