Single and return tickets are available for the Arthurs Seat Eagle, which runs between the summit and the base station. Although ticket times are flexible, prebooking tickets ensures you save time during the busy summer season. Most Mornington Peninsula and Phillip Island tours combine a ride on the Arthurs Seat Eagle with either wine tasting, the Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park, or a visit to beach towns such as Sorrento.
The hilltop Eagle Café serves lunch, snacks, and drinks, and has both indoor and outdoor seating areas.
The cable car ride takes around 15 minutes each way; you can choose between an enclosed or open gondola.

The base station of Arthurs Seat Eagle is on Arthurs Seat Road in the Mornington Peninsula, which is around an hour’s drive from Melbourne. If taking public transport, take the train from Melbourne to Frankston station and then catch bus 788 to the Dromana Visitor Centre, from which it’s a 15-minute walk to the base station. For those arriving by car, free parking is available at the station.
Arthurs Seat Eagle has frequent daily departures throughout the year; opening hours can vary so it’s worth checking ahead. If visitng in summer, aim to arrive in the early morning to make the most of the cooler temperatures, especially if you’re planning to walk. Otherwise, time your visit to enjoy lunch with a view at the hilltop cafe.
While the views from the summit station are the main attraction, Arthurs Seat is also a popular destination for wildlife watching and nature walks. A network of walking and mountain bike trails run through Arthurs Seat State Park: highlights include the Arthurs Seat Circuit Walk; the Kings Falls walk, where kangaroo sightings are common; and the Seawinds Gardens, home to sculptures by William Ricketts.
