3 Days in Paso Robles for First Timers
If this is your first time in Paso Robles, you’re in for a treat. I went to college nearby and have been traveling to the area ever since, and I’m never disappointed by this picturesque town. With a quaint downtown area surrounded by rolling hills, Paso Robles is a great destination for anyone seeking a California adventure.
Whether you're headed there for a weekend getaway or planning to stay longer, I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. On a 3-day trip, you can explore the city’s historical buildings, enjoy the nearby countryside, and stop by a couple of vineyards. Here, I’ve selected a few choice things to do for your first visit to this charming city.
Prepare for hot, dry weather in summer and colder, wet winters.
If you only have time for one thing, make it a tour to some local vineyards.
On day one, start your visit to Paso Robles with an electric bike tour to get to know the downtown area and get a quick introduction to the area’s wine country. The history museum in the Carnegie Library provides valuable information about the town's heritage.
Spend the rest of the day exploring the region’s biggest draw: wine country. The easiest way to partake without worrying about driving is to book a private tour that will allow you to sample wines (and enjoy snacks) at multiple spots.
Some wineries also offer horseback riding so you can watch the sunset over rolling vineyard hills before dinner.
Day two is for learning about the area’s history. If you wake up early, consider a sunrise hot air balloon ride to see the region from above. When you return to earth, take a walking tour and learn about Paso’s Wild West cowboy culture.
