Good morning and thank you for choosing The True Colombian Experience.
You were asked to not continue the hike by the park guards because they were deeply concerned for your safety. You were observed having severe difficulty breathing, crawling up steps on hands and knees, and falling on the trail not once, but twice before they stepped in asked you to please stop. It is a private, NOT public, park and the guards are completely within their right to deny hikers entry should they deem fit.
This park has a large inflow of hikers every single day. The guards are responsible for monitoring and ensuring their safety should something happen and they have to evacuate a hiker (which does happen). That’s why they are posted at multiple checkpoints along the trail — to ensure the safety and well-being of the hikers.
You were informed by your guide before the start of the tour that this was an extremely challenging hike that required a higher level of physical fitness. You ignored his claims. After reaching the first waterfall, he once again tried to warn you that the trail would only get exponentially harder, and that because you were already having great difficulty, it would be better for you not to continue. You once again dismissed him. After leaving the waterfall your condition deteriorated considerably and that’s when you began falling on the trail.
Furthermore, you tried to blame your guide for « allowing the guards to turn you away. » It’s a private park. The guide cannot overrule the rules of the park. There was nothing he could do at that point.
You stated that your son was denied the right to achieve the hike because of you. This is simply not true — your son finished the hike.
