    Peles and Bran Castles

    Ramona was a fabulous tour guide with lots of knowledge of the history in Brasov. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide for this trip!! Super friendly and patient and even contacted us prior to let us know the castles we wanted to see were not open on our chosen date; she helped us change to the next day to ensure we had the best trip ever!!

    Peles Castle and Bran Fortress - A day trip.

    Sorin was our guide for the day. Sorin was punctual and professional. He drove very well and his car was comfortable. We first went to Peles castle, which was beautiful and as with most royal residences, opulent and replete with expensive decorations and furnishings. We toured the ground floor only (Basic Tour) and Sorin joined us. As such, he was able to give us interesting information as we walked around which helped it come alive a little more. We stayed here and had a wonderful cake and coffee in the cafe. We then moved on to have a lunch in a quiet restaurant situated by a lake which was very pleasant indeed. Afterwards we moved onto Bran Castle - the castle that is connected with so much of the Dracula legend. I enjoyed this very much and once again Sorin joined us and was able to give us information about the Fortress as we walked around it. Lastly Sorin took us to Poiana Brasov ski resort and showed us around. Sorin works here as a ski instructor in the winter and he gave us a good tour of the resort which was very interesting. Sorin was previously a professional skier - Slalom and it was evident that he was passionate about skiing. Lastly we descended the mountains and were dropped off at our hotel. Sorin gave us lots of choice as to timings and activities we might like to do. He could have taken us for an hour hike if we had wanted to, and on another day with more time we would have, as he is bound to be a good hiking leader as he is a man who loves the forest and mountain trails. All in all, a good day out.
