Worth the trip
Kathleen_R, Apr 2024
Our guide, Jeremy, was knowledgeable and interacted with the group which made it more person. Although it was cold, windey and raining sideways, (we bought Mac in a Sac rain jackets), it was worth the views. We saw wallabys and wombats in their natural environment which was pretty neat. Very interesting scenery and countryside. It was a nice way to see the working side of Tasmania.
Cradle Mountain

My wife and I had a great time with the mountain views, touring the Cabin, and doing the various hikes that our tour guide recommended. We also enjoyed the local wildlife Wombats.
Overall a great tour and way to spend a day outside of Burnie

This was a full day tour to the Cradle Mountains. Check in was easy and the small group made it more friendly and enjoyable than a cruise ship tour. Guide was very personable and caring. Excellent place to go for the day. And we got to go on some short hikes based on abilities. The only thing I think could be improved on was the guide didn’t always talk to the whole bus but rather just those sitting in the front seats. It made the rest of us feel a little left out. He was a good guide though and knew a little about a lot of things. He could easily hold everyone’s attention when talking to all of us.
Great way to spend a day in Burnie

Great tour. Met us where the cruise buses drop you off. Mark is a Tassie Native and had some awesome commentary. Very informative and also super funny. About 1.5 hours drive each way up to Cradle Mountain. A few hours to explore the area - walk part of the overland track, explore a chalet, and walk around Dove lake (can even swim if the weather is nice) plus a stop a cafe on the way to get some lunch. Back with plenty of time to get back on board. Not much to do in Burnie so a great way to spend the day. Also about 1/3 of the cost of the shore excursions the cruise ran with literally the same itinerary.
Disappointing
Michael_T, Feb 2024
We booked this tour while our ship ported. This was listed as a full day tour, however we were leaving port at 2:00. I questioned the tour operators ability to provide the tour in such a short time frame and was assured we could complete the tour and return before the ship left. What we experienced was 15 minutes at Cradle Mountain and a "car race" to get back to the ship on time. 4 hours in a cramped bus for 15 minutes of sightseeing. NOT FUN and certainly not worth the money.
Wonderful and memorable experience
Warren_F, Feb 2024
Had the most incredible experience visiting Burnie where we went with Tassie Tours to Cradle Mountain for the day. Peter our tour guide was absolutely fantastic! He was such a knowledgeable and entertaining guide who kept us informed of everything that was happening around us as well as the history of the area and Tasmania as a whole. Due to our cruise ship changing our port times at the last minute, our stop in Burnie was unfortunately cut significantly short and Peter had to get us to Cradle and back in only 4 hours when we originally had the whole day! Peter did such an incredible job given the circumstances and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We had such a wonderful experience that both my wife and I said we'll definitely be back to Tasmania and we'll certainly use Tassie Tours again! To any other cruise ship passengers reading this, we highly recommend doing the Cradle Mountain day tour as it's spectacularly beautiful scenery that'll take your breath away!
Worth the drive from Burnie

It was a clear day and we were able to see Cradle Mountain, it was fantastic! Our guide Peter was excellent, got us there and back quickly as we only had a few hours in port.
Incredible scenery and wildlife
Ken_P, Jan 2024
Dani was an outstanding tour guide- Dove lake scenery was amazing- on another hike we saw Wombat and Australian porcupines. Bus seats weren’t the most comfortable for a 6.5 hour trip.
Cradle Mountain is a must do!

An amazing day… great tour guide, picturesque scenery, fun group of people (10 in total). Would recommend as a must do when on shore in Burnie. Weather misbehaved but this only made it more memorable. Highlight of our trip so far! We will be back!!
Amazing trip!

Our guide was lovely and it was a great experience. We were met with hail and rain but the tour guides were great and picked us up promptly and provided great dialogue along the way. I would 100% recommend this to my friends and family 🙂
Great tour

Awesome tour of cradle mountain. The tour guides ensure we make it back to the cruise on time. And it was a long drive. The guides were knowledgeable and knows their way around the mountain to ensure we can see what we can and have photos taken. Great day

Great way to see Cradle Mountain on a shore day
Jenny_L, Dec 2023
Well organised trip out of Burnie with stopover in Sheffield on the way up to Cradle Mountain. Our guides Shannon and Richard took us on a track that made great use of the time we had. Saw a few wombats, pademelons and an echidna in a beautiful unique landscape.
Great tour, hike, landscape, and wildlife
BrentAdair, Dec 2023
The drive from the port to Cradle Mountain was a bit lengthy, but definitely worth it. Richard and Shannon were excellent guides, providing fun and information along the way. We were able to go for a hike in Cradle Mountain and saw beautiful lakes, landscapes, and even wildlife. I would absolutely recommend this tour.
Cradle Mountain was...

Cradle Mountain was beautiful and the Wombats and Wallabies were the best part. The weather as sunny.
Tassie Tours 👍 - Viator 👎
Philip_J, Apr 2023
We were disappointed in this tour - no fault of the tour operators,Tassie Tours - but because of Viator’s miss information. We received an email from Viator the day before our tour date telling us the tour starts at 11:29AM. We arrived at the “meet location” early, at 11:00AM only to find the tour operators (Tassie Tours) were waiting for us since 9AM. Consequently, we had to compress a full day’s tour of 7.5 hours into 5.5 hours in order to get back to our cruise ship on time. We had NO time to hike around Cradle Mountain as planned. Our entire tour was rushed. Viator totally miss-communicated causing us to forfeit a good portion of our tour.
Response from Host, Apr 2023
Hi guys, This will be the second time I've replied to this one. Obviously Viator didn't like my first reply. Thanks for our thumbs up but the 2 stars affect our product listing. Your issue is with Viator, not us directly. I'm hoping you might be able to review us as a company based on your experience with us and not based on your dealings with Viator. Thank you
Beautiful experience.
Laura_S, Mar 2023
After a delay to start (not Viators fault at all) we had a great experience and our driver/guide was awesome. Our driver actually made up the missed time by doing a great job of getting us caught up. Beautiful area and would love to go back and be able to spenda few days. Thank you Viator fir having such friendly, warm and experienced drivers and guides. Viator always come through for the best times. Joe & Laura
Unique Landscape and wildlife
Judi_H, Mar 2023
This was a half day excursion - the drive to cradle mountain was long. Interesting geology as the lake was carved out by glacier. The was a hike to a glacial like viewpoint where we saw a wombat. During that hike we also visited the original home of the first family that investigated this area. There were some lovely forested areas near this own. Most of the landscape was bog and there was a wooden boardwalk established to protect the environment. There was a coffee shop at one of the stops
Beautiful Tour
Ronald_N, Mar 2023
The knowledge of the driver who took us on the amazing tour was fantastic!! The area beautiful and great experience!!! One of our best cruise stops and tour.
Beautiful hike
Ken_M, Feb 2023
Weather wasn't great but we enjoyed our hike and saw wombats close-up. Guides were great and got to see the Tasmanian countryside during our short one-day cruise boat stop. Enjoyed it.
