With relatively calm, protected waters and an abundance of marine life, Cape Byron Marine Park is an ideal sea kayaking spot. Choose from a morning or afternoon departure. You’ll be outfitted with a paddle, safety vest and a two-person sea kayak designed for ease and stability. All levels of kayaking experience are welcome.
Follow your knowledgeable surf-and-sea guides out into the marine park, learning about the area’s natural and cultural history as you paddle. Your guides will navigate the group toward the path of a local pod of more than 300 dolphins that are regularly seen swimming, splashing and jumping in the area. Get an amazingly up-close encounter with these smart and playful creatures in their natural habitat.
Keep an eye out for other marine life including sea turtles and migrating humpback whales (May to November). Disembark on a lovely local beach and refresh with morning or afternoon tea and coffee, served with hot drinks and chocolate biscuits.
In the rare event that your group does not encounter any dolphins, you can take the tour again on another day, free of charge.

- If the tour does not see dolphins or whales (during whale season), I am entitled to a free return tour but I am NOT entitled to any refund. Free return tours are non-transferable.
- Cancellations or changes to a booking within 24 hours of tour start time are not allowed and non-refundable. No exceptions.
Cancellation Policy
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
- For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
- Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
- Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

The experience of a lifetime! Stunning nature, knowledgeable fun guides and very well organized. Saw whales very close by and felt safe and looked after all the way. Would definitely recommend and try this again.

We could not recommend this experience more highly! We were so lucky and had an incredible sighting of a huge pod of dolphins but the really highlight was how incredible the guides were with our children 6 and 12 years old. Absolutely the best experience!

The dolphin pod was all around us and we just sat and enjoyed every moment with our guides to help us get out and back through the surf. It was a bucket list dream and finally achieved.

If you are reading this, just know dolphins are not guaranteed. Nonetheless the kayaking was still a very fun experience. Kayaking was harder than I thought as it was in the ocean and you have to get past the crashing waves to get past the current. However on the other way around you have to ride the wave in and being on top of the wave even for a short minute it was thrilling. This activity is a full body activity and you will be tired. It was a bummer there were no dolphins or sea turtles but they do offer a come back guarantee if you don't see them for free. Unfortunately, I was leaving the next day and didn't have time or energy to do the activity again.

Magical experience ! First time in Australia and 1st booking on kayak tour with dolphins.
Despite a bit of wind and waves, safety was there. From briefing to kayaking, the staff was paying lots of attention.
Friendly, pro and of course… we saw dolphins ! A truly magical moment, seeing so many around us, living freely and making it a top memorable experience. A big thank you and definitely recommend this experience. 💙💙💙

The trip was okay. The instructors were nice and it was peaceful out on the water however we didn’t see any wildlife at all. You need good upper body strength!! I can imagine if you see wildlife it makes a big difference to the trip.

Phenomenal experience! Was such a beautiful day out on the water. Saw upwards of 30 dolphins all swimming around and playing, at times no further than a couple of meters from your kayak. Tour guides were awesome and made the trip a really enjoyable one.

This was a great experience. Even though we have realised we are really not strong rowers (!) the guides were helpful and supportive and when we finally got the hang out of it, it was worth it to get to the dolphin pod and see the dolphins swimming right next to the kayaks! It was also great to be out in the water and see the beautiful Byron Bay from a different angle.

We had a lot of fun kayaking! The group was quite large and my boyfriend got a little sea sick, but we did enjoy it. We saw some wild life but less than we expected. I have done kayaking before, and this was slightly less relaxing because it was bumpier. Overall we had a great time and the guides were really helpful when my boyfriend got sick!
