For those willing to rise early for the march up to the 2,620-foot (798-meter) summit of Gros Piton, the panoramic views over the Caribbean are well worth it. Danny boy, is such a great guide He is a living encyclopedia of St. Lucian history and knowledge. He is a treasure and a great driver. Good vibes! Our two guides at the national park, Merle and Margaret, were so nice and very patient with us when we needed extra breaks. Yes, this is a strenuous hike! Bring extra water and snacks ( bars, fruit). Wear sturdy closed-toe hiking or running shoes. Come well-hydrated. It's well worth the journey!

The best guided tour option for sure

Great trip - Danny was very nice and flexible. He will pick you up from anywhere - just tell him in advance and he will sort it. This trip has specific guides they use and they are all great. Very friendly and encouraging and knowledgeable. We loved this hike even though it was tough. Would definitely recommend to anyone and wouldn’t go elsewhere for the Gros Piton hike trip. The best guided tour for this hike for sure.

This was a great experience! Note that the hike is challenging, so be prepared. Wear sturdy hiking/trail running shoes and make sure to have plenty of water and snacks. Part of the hike is shaded, and some in full sun, so it does get very warm. recommend an early start. A walking stick/hiking pole also helpful - esp. on the way down. This is a rocky and, at times, steep trail. The way up is a cardio workout, down is easier on the lungs but tricky for 50+ year old knees, so the hiking pole and focussed attention were a must. We had a 6am pick up (from a hotel in the north), and set out with our guide, Kaiser, just after 8am. Including a few stops for photos and rests to refuel, we were back at the base by about 12:30. Can’t say enough good things about Kaiser! Very patient and skilled guide. Our driver, Dannyboy, was equally impressive. Very knowledgeable, sharing many fun facts and history of Saint Lucia throughout the drive and skillfully navigating the winding roads. Arrived right on time for pick up and was charming throughout. Highly recommend this excursion for fit individuals!

Amazing trip! Definitely recommended. Lucky to have had dannyboy as our driver/tour guide. Lots of information about the island and he managed to make the long car rides fun. Hike was challenging but a great time. Thanks to Kaiser for guiding us up and down. The views were awesome. Would definitely book again!

Breathtaking views and a fun, but challenging hike

A challenging, but fun hike up to the top of gros piton! Our guide whitney was great and also our driver javar! Shout out to them as they helped make the experience a memorable one! The hike is challenging and I’d say you do need a good level of fitness to do it. But the views are incredible and it was a rewarding experince!

If you’re looking for a challenging, rewarding, breathtaking hike - I highly suggest hiking the Gros piton! This was very tough and we were all in good shape, so my one suggestion is to ensure your cardio is good, legs are strong and good shoes that have good grip for the wet rocks! It’s continuous rocks and hills and they’re very steep! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience, from the moment Danny boy picked us up & Kaisar guided us up the mountain! We hiked up and down in a total of 4 hours and enjoyed a Piton beer afterwards! If you’re not in the best shape, you can turn back at different parts while still enjoying great views and a good workout.

Views from the top were incredible and worth it! Kaizer was our guide and was very nice and fun. Dannyboy was our driver and was very knowledgable of the island and answered a lot of questions we had ranging from island sports to history to politics and more. The hike is more rock climbing than typical trail walking so they will suggest you rent a hiking stick for $5, but there are plenty of times you will need to use both your hands (aka all fours) to get up and down so would suggest not using the pole as you’d be better off without it

We are so grateful for Danny Boy’s driving and tour guiding. He was extremely knowledgeable and personable, which made for a fun and quick drive. Our hiking guide, Whitney, was extremely patient and sweet. I do not think the price matches what you’re getting which is essentially a cab ride in a van. We fully support St Lucia tourism industry, but think Viator needs to balance its price of $130 each person with an additional $50 fee with reality.

Highly recommend this hike/excursion. The transportation (Dannyboy) to and from the hike was entertaining and we learned a ton about the island. Whitney, our guide on the hike, was the best! This hike is no joke, pretty steep most of the way up. He was patient, helpful, and knowledge. Great experience all around.

We did the gros piton hike as part of our honeymoon in St. Lucia. We had Danney boy as our guide. He picked us up on time and took us on the trek to the pitons. Along the way he gave us history, fun facts, and some photo viewing stops. He was energetic and full of knowledge. At the hike we had Kaiser as our guide. He stayed with us, was patient, and also very knowledgeable about the mountain. He took great photos as well! The hike is hard but definitely doable if you are somewhat fit. Great end to our trip! If you decide to do this, make sure you book with Danney!

Amazing - our guide and driver (aka Stranger) made the experience!! We stayed at the Royalton Hideaway resort near Rodney Bay it’s a 4hs round trip to Gros Piton so the wrong guide/driver would have changed the experience.
