Horrendous

The driver who took us to the game farm gave us very little information during the drive there and back. The food at Aquila was good. The Safari was terrible.The ride was extremely bumpy and the seats were too small. I had only one cheek on the seat and it was the same for everyone else. The guide did not use a microphone so only the people in the first and second seats could hear him. He gave very little information about the anamals. If we had not been on a safari earlier in the week, at a different place, we would not have known much about the animals. I would mot recommend this trip to anyone.

Such a fun day! Fiston picked us up at port and our adventure (along with 6 others) began. We had a very scenic drive to Aquila and he pointed out all of the sights along the way as well as answering everyone’s questions. He told us all about the history of the areas we passed through and about the vineyards we passed. We saw our first baboons before we even entered Aquila and after a few pictures we headed to the entrance. Once inside, we had an absolutely delicious buffet style lunch and cold drinks before heading out to the 4x4’s. The park is layed out so that you drive through different areas where animals are located and in most places views were very up close, a few the animals were a bit further but our safari guide, Fin, did a wonderful job of finding animals and making sure everyone had a chance to see and take photos. We saw giraffes, hippos, ostriches, eland, elephants, buffalo, zebras, lions and baboons. My favorite part of the safari was when 4 elephants decided to walk on the road we needed to drive on and we spent about 15-20 minutes waiting on them to move over! Everything was very well organized and our group was the last to return. Fin dropped us off and Fiston brought the van and we headed back to port. Again, he kept us entertained with stories and history and the ride was very pleasant. I travel with a walker and poc and some of the others we picked up also had a walker and a wheelchair. Both Fiston and Fin couldn’t have been any kinder or more helpful and tour was very accessible!

The actual safari. Fantastic to see these animals up close. Lunch was great and so was the wine! Downside was the lack of communication pick up from hotel. Also driver did not offer a wash room stop, also we did not know where to meet the driver when the safari ended. More instruction throughout would have been appreciated.

They don't tell you it's a 2 hrs drive to get there with no traffic. Once there, I have seen more more at a zoo. I was expecting trees, grasses and herds of animals. It was a long dusty day with little reward.. the guides were friendly, the best part.

A wonderful day. Our driver to the park was fun and informative. The ranger who did the drive was very informative and food fun. We saw so many animals up close - the only elusive one was the leopard. Lunch was also very good. Worth the long drive. 100% recommend.

Excellent Day in Aquila

We saw so many animals with a wonderful guide Tyler. Aquila is a beautiful complex. Not only is there the Safari but a delicious buffet lunch. We were greeted with a very nice glass of sparkling rose. While we had quite a bit of time before our sunset safari we wished we had known there was a pool as this also a resort complex with hotel rooms, cottages and a spa. We relaxed in the lounge with a beer until time for our excellent excursion. It is about 2.5 hours drive from Cape Town. Our driver Zen was excellent and provided a rest stop in both directions.

Awesome safari!

We had an amazing day. Our driver, Zain, who got us to the park was excellent & very knowledgeable. He made the two and a half hour drive to & from the safari fun. The Aquila Private Game Reserve was actually a very nice resort. The only downside of our trip was the timing. We had about two and a half hours between our excellent lunch & our safari. Not much to do at the resort. There was a swimming pool but we weren’t prepared for that (or informed ahead of time). The gift shop was small. Now for the best part, the safari ride. Tyler, our driver, was incredible. He was very knowledgeable & took his time to point out & make sure everyone saw all of the animals. He also gave everyone an opportunity for great pictures. He stopped the safari truck & turned it off so we could watch the animals in peace & all hear his commentary. The roads were incredibly rough, but his took his time to make the ride as smooth as possible. We saw countless animals up close & would highly recommend the safari. We saw 4 of the big 5 animals plus many others.

Nice experience but not sure it’s worth the money.

The drive to the game reserve is quite long (2.5 hours) and was peaceful on the way so you could sleep more. Once we arrived to the game, everything was rushed, barely had time to enjoy our welcome drink. You will need your ID once you check in with reception as they make a copy with your signed release. The game is nice but if feels very controlled as if the drivers know where the animals are so it doesn’t feel as authentic. The day I went the African elephant and giraffes were very far away, you couldn’t see them close and the lions were sleeping. The safari driver was very knowledgeable of the animals which was helpful! It is very bumpy so be aware if you suffer from motion sickness! The lunch is very good and delicious!! Buffet options with a lot of choices. We had 1.5 hours for lunch, spent 20 minutes eating and the rest of the time sitting around in the shade relaxing. There was a pool but not sure if we were able to enjoy it because it wasn’t advertised. The drive home was long and hot. It felt like heat was coming off the floor and randomly the cool air would come out of the vents, I used my personal fan the entire drive home and was still hot. It felt better outside during our stop (10 minutes going there and 10 minutes going back) than it did in the van.

We saw giraffe rhinos cape Buffalo zebras lions elephant elans ostrich and hippocampus. Also had a nice buffet lunch. Rubin our driver pointed out many sights along the way to Aquila.

Great safari tour

Lovely trip even though the 2.5hrs drive from Cape Town to the Aquila park was quite tiresome. But the safari experience there was awesome. Our guide, 007 was great, making sure we had a good view of the big 5. The location was superb with a very nice lunch buffet. Highly recommend tour.

Great option for a single...

Great option for a single day activity from Cape Town. Viator arranges minibus transport to and from Aquila. The lunch and safari tour are provided by Aquila. Many operators provide the same experience as the Aquila tour is universal. Very good though, just make sure that the provider mentions that the park entry is included in the price (it was for Viator). 4 star because somehow the driver was unable to fully close a door, leaving us with 2x2.5hr drive with a beeping alarm...

Aquila was awesome, drive/guide Nicolas was knowledgeable, food served was delicious and we had a great time. The car used to drive us from/to Cape Town was beeping the entire time for door ope (almost 6h both ways listening that). Our driver Big Papi was very friendly.

This was a once in a lifetime experience, our guide was outstanding and loves his job and it shows. We had opportunity to see so many animals, too many to even mention but the lions were the big hit. The dinner was fantastic and all te staff were so welcoming. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

Great value and a great time

It started with Luke's smiling face in the hotel lobby. Luke was excellent very knowledgeable and made the trip to the game park interesting. Once at Aquila he took charge and made sure we were organized and where we were supposed to be. Kinda like herding cats. The safari tour guide was really knowledgeable,I wish I could remember his name. He made sure that we got some great shots. We saw so much but the hippos would not surface so we missed seeing them.
