Viator - a TripAdvisor compancy - is not a viable partner for vacation planning. avoid at all cost.
Lisa_D, Jul 2023
Multiple points of failure. 1> Viator contracted this tour with a firm that went out of business before the tour occured. Viator apparently did insufficent research on the viability of their contracted partner 2> It was very difficult to get a viator representative on the line to assist in any way, and when we did, she wanted to give us a hard time about a list-minute cancellation as if anything about our situation was our choice. 3> Viator was completely unaware that their contracted partner had ceased operations. They were sending us emails to "get ready" for our excursion up to the night before, even though the contracted partner had ceased all operations 2 weeks earlier. 4> Because viator was blissfully unaware of the state of their contracted party, despite having 2 weeks to rebook with another contracted partner, or give us any advance notice, viator did nothing to prepare us. The first we learned of this was when the contracted partner failed to pick us up for our tour. We were very fortunate to be able to work with our resort (who had much more reliable contracted partners) to rearrange events for that day, so the only loss was 2-3 hours of waiting for a Viator partner that never showed, the time on the phone trying to contact the contracted partner (who not surprisingly never answered their phone), and the time spent booking vacation tours with a more reputable company. 5> although this whole mess clearly entitles us to a refund, and to compensation for our time and effort to sort out what viator should have already been on top of, viator has been less than forthcoming with any follow-up customer service, or refund.
Fast paced

Well of corse the pyramids where great , the only issues I had was not enough time to shop. The tour guide and driver where great! The food at the cenote was the most delicious I’ve ever had. So many thanks to to cooks. Pepe did his best and was very knowledgeable
Awesome experience, totally worth it!
Cynthonyc, May 2023
Awesome trip overall! Easy to book and pay (I booked within 24hrs of the excursion), communication regarding trip details were sufficient and accurate. Pick up was on time, trip was well planned, early arrival at Chichen Itza was ideal, we avoided the crowds we saw entering upon our departure. We finished early enough to get back and enjoy the evening at our hotels. BONUS: Repelling down into the Cenote, was a surprise opportunity and awesome experience! Only minor complaint was I wished we had more time to walk around and explore the Chichen Itza complex freely, our guide took up about an hour talking, which only left us an hour to explore on our own.
A beautiful day

George was our guide and was very informative! The driver was funny too! I was impressed with George's mastery of French, English, and Spanish! George was encouraging with the repelling to the cenote as well!
Impressed even my teenagers ;)

Our tour guide Caesar was amazing! The best part was the amazing Cenote experience! The meal at the Mayan community was delicious!
Breathtaking

My favorite part of our trip to Cancun! Everything was great, the pickup spot was iffy as we were waiting longer than expected but it was still awesome. Our driver/ guide got us there safe and sound. He was super knowledgeable about everything. Would definitely recommend going.
Brilliant

It was so good to see Chichen-itza. It is so impressive. There was so much to see and it was good that we arrived early
Long day with surprises
Marea_F, Jul 2022
What a day! Transportation was scheduled well in advance. We were ready to go, and they came inside the hotel to alert us they were there to pick us up. Nice drive to Chichen Itza (about 2 hours.) We arrived before the influx of tourists and before the heat was almost unbearable. Gabbo was a fantastic tour guide. This was my second time going to this wonder of the world and I learned so much history on this trip that I was not aware. Upon leaving the pyramid, we ventured to Cenote Maya. I knew were were going to the cenote but I was unaware of it being necessary to rappel down in a harness. Wow! No where in the info was this specified. My husband and I did it but…wish I would have had some indication before. Accommodations at the cenote were bare minimum. Toilets, sink and lockers are pretty much all you get. Lunch was ok. Chicken, rice, tortas and salad.
Wonderful tour!!

Unforgettable Experience

Rafael was an amazing tour guide and extremely knowledgeable. Everything on this excursion was great
Great combination of activities
Allan_S, Jan 2022
Great experience! A decent combination of sightseeing, group mayen lunch and awesome swimming in a beautiful closed cenote. But be aware that it is a long day with a lot of driving, approx. 6 hours in total. Additional leg room would be much appreciated.
Great tour
Diana_P, Jan 2022
I had a great experience with alltournative visiting Chichen Itza & Cenote Maya. The Mayan lunch was good and flavorful. The traditional Mayan ceremony was a nice touch. Rafael was my tour guide. He was so nice, knowledgeable and funny. He spoke English very well too. I would definitely recommend booking this tour. Don’t forget to tip your tour guide!
Overpriced and misleading advertising
Fernando_L, Jan 2022
Overpriced compared with similar tours from Tripadvisor, the celote was not like the pictures it was small and dark, not inviting , misses ti visit other places like other tours offered Vallaloid or Tequila factoriey. Viator shows at the top this tour and I am sorprice has 5 stars. You can get better for a lot less price
Not as planned!
Dieter_V, Jan 2022
Driver (poor English)was on time, but no guide joined us. He drove us and another family, first to the Cenote, not to CI as described in the program: cold in the morning to swim and they did not expect us there, hot at CI with rushed park guide only. No lunch buffet, but one plate. No drinks in the van. Consider the long driving times. Positive note: the driver was flexibel, stopped on request, for a snack, toilet break.
Great tour to Chichen Itza & Centre Maya
Kai_C, Dec 2021
Our tour guide Debby was very professional, friendly, knowledgeable. We enjoyed the entire tour to Chichen Itza and Cenote Maya. We wish the van could be more comfortable because it's almost impossible to stretch out in the van during this 6 hours round trip ride.
Worth every penny
Kaziya_L, Nov 2021
There were so many options to choose from but this was 100% the correct choice for our Chichen Itza excursion. We were able to avoid many of the “cons” mentioned in reviews for other tours. There were 8 of us total so pickups only took about 15-20 min and then we were on our way. We got a nice sandwich and banana snack as we approached Chichen Itza. On site we spent about an hour with our guide learning about the history of the place, and then we got about 50min to explore on our own. The place is huge so use your time wisely! We arrived right as it opened and were leaving just as the crowds and the heat were starting to get bad. We didn’t have to worry about any taxes or fees onsite because it’s all included in the tour cost. Our next stop was cenote maya, which was arguably just as amazing as Chichen Itza. Absolutely beautiful and you get to rappel down into it, which was unique and very fun. You get about 45min to play around in the water (definitely try the zip line and jump from the platforms). The traditional Mayan lunch afterward was delicious! Our guide Paco was the best guide I’ve ever had on any excursion. He was friendly, knowledgeable, kept us all on schedule, and a very safe driver. Our pickup occurred right on time at 5:55am and we were back at our hotel around 4:45pm. This tour may be a bit more expensive than some of the other options out there (though keep in mind those other ones also have additional entrance fees that aren’t included upfront), but this is definitely the way to go: Small group, fantastic guide, no wasted time, full day but not toooo long (back in time for a nice dinner), and lifelong memories. We absolutely got our money’s worth and then some. We couldn’t be happier!
Great guide & experience!
K_R, Aug 2021
Josh was a great guide and we had a great group. The tour was very educational and we had just the right amount of activities. Really enjoyed the cenote! That was a great way to cool off and repelling down wasn’t bad at all! We also did the zip line jump into the water. Good excursion overall!
Hire a driver and go by yourself
Sidney_H, Aug 2021
The ruins are incredible and cenote was absolutely amazing. However this was a 3 Hour drive from the Riviera hotel zone. That is not stated in the write up of the trip. Three hours in an over crowded van. We were very rushed at the ruins by the time the tour guide is done talking we only had 40 minutes to see the ruins and try to shop with the locals. Same thing at the cenote. We felt like we were rushed in and rushed out. 30 minutes in the cenote is barely enough time to get the full experience. This was pretty disappointing. then we had to get back in that awful van for three hours back to our hotel.
Memorable!
