What To Expect

Make your way to Merritt Island, where this tour begins at 9am, and start with a short instruction session if you’re new to kayaking or stand-up paddleboards. The Banana River Aquatic Preserve has sheltered and calm water, and it’s the perfect place to try either sport for the first time.

You’ll have two hours on the water, plenty of time to watch for the manatees that live along this stretch of coastline: the endangered sea mammals are here year-round, grazing on a wide variety of plants within the borders of the 30,000 acre (121,140 ha.) preserve. If you need extra help or instruction during the tour, simply as an instructor for tips on paddling, and enjoy an easy-going pace throughout the trip. This 2-hour tour concludes at the original departure point, in Banana River Aquatic Preserve.

It was a beautiful day and very relaxing. The guide was great. We weren't able to see any dolphins but did catch sight of one manatee coming up for breathe.

Larry R, Jan 2018
The tour had manatee in the name for the his early January tour, even though manatees would not be seen in early January due to the animals normally migrating to warmer waters. The tour is misnamed, and the tour operator should have said so during conversation with this Yankee the day before going on the tour. Disappointed.
