3/29 Nice to have someone do the drive up to this area the last part of the road is a little messy and not for everyone’s driving skills. We had a nice van that stayed heated so we could get in and out. The viewing area is large and open and was our best view of the lights we have had on trip. It is a busy location so be prepared for people to be coming and going and not being super thoughtful with their headlights. My husband is a photographer and was able to still get good shots. It was a beautiful view and we enjoyed the booking.

Joe, our tour driver, did a good job - but Murphy Dome is TOO busy with way TOO many cars in and out with their lights on. Select another place for viewing the aurora!

We had such fun! Our guide was very knowledgeable and eager to help. A couple got engaged and he helped get the perfect pics! He also helped my with my cámara to get great pics. Thanks!

Paid $120 per person to have someone drive us up a public road to a crowded parking lot we could have driven to ourselves. Sit silently in a van for six hours. Description says guide will share history of the AF station and info about the aurora... nope! Our guide barely spoke, didn't know what the AF station was. Description says drinks and snacks - no snacks and avoid the drinks because there's no bathrooms. Better to drive yourself.

The tour was great! The guide super supportive, although the vehicle that took us was super old and not comfortable, and the way back to the hotel the driver was “aggressive” (excessive speed, not stop in bumps)

Excursion was a lot of fun! Even though we did not get to see a really large Aurora, we did get to see a smaller one. Ed was our tour guide and he was very informative. He provided us with great information and some warm hot chocolate on a nice cold night! For what this excursion was intended for just to see the Northern lights, I would definitely recommend choosing this excursion.

Bob was a great guide. Very informative. Was not as impressed with the viewpoint. Basically a parking lot by the Murphy dome. You just get in and out of the van as you wish and wait for the lights. There are a lot of outdoor lights on the dome that cause light pollution for viewing.

Thank you for coming out with us on the Murphy Dome Tour. Unfortunately, this location does not have any facilities, but it is the highest elevation to get a great viewpoint of the Aurora. We do offer other Northern Lights Tours with Warm Lodges and other things to do throughout the night.
We hope to see you again soon on your next Alaska Adventure.

Though the sky was crystal clear, we saw no lights for the first hour, and then it all came alive! What a mystical, spiritual experience! Just seeing the stars that close and clearly and even seeing the Milky Way was worth the price of admission. The lights, though... OMG!
You should note that this tour is in just a (nice) van. There's no campfire or yurt or any place beyond the van to warm up. Also, the condensation on the windows freezes, so you do have to get out to see the lights, which is fine, except that for us it was -21 degrees.
Our guide, Alison (or Alyssa... or something like that) was very sweet and helpful.

Our guide was very nice. We saw the lights and it was great. Equally great was seeing all the stars how beautiful.
