I booked a tour several weeks in advance, to spend 4 hours in the museum for family of six with private guide from 8-12. The day before the activity they sent me a message to start at 9, because the museum opens at 9. Unfortunately we were in white desert and didn’t get it… so at 8 we were waiting for the guide… he arrived on time, and offered extra activity before the museum for extra 60 USD. We went on boating on the Nile, which we have done before for 20 USD….so it seemed a kind of overcharging. We couldn’t change the time because of our airplane departure.Then we spent one and a half hour in the museum with great explanation of the guide and had free time for photos. The one and half hour was fantastic, but we felt disappointed. They shouldn’t let the boooking from 8, if the museum opens at 9. Also the overcharged boating made us not to enjoy the trip.

Ahmed Salah was an excellent tour guide. He is very knowledgeable and one of the best tour guides we’ve had. It’s our first visit to Egypt and Ahmed made the Egyptian Museum tour and our visit very memorable. We highly recommend Ahmed!

While the guide tried to put some effort, their English was not that good and it was hard to understand at times. The guide also did not know some relative basic knowledge about the artifacts that you could just read on the signs put there from the museum. Overall we felt we did not get too much insight from the guide. Luckily I had gone to the museum before and I could feel the gaps in the guide knowledge. They also forgot to give us the water, and claimed that they knew nothing about it

The guide was very knowledgeable and the transport was comfortable. I was surprised that the cost of the ticket to enter the museum wasn't included which, given the price, was a surprise however all in all the information from the guide was worth the cost.

Worth booking a guide for the museum

Definitely recommend booking a guide for the museum. There is so much to see there, but our guide Hosni was able to show us around to the most significant pieces whilst filling in the history for us. There is some signage on the exhibits but it is a bit brief, so you learn more from the guide. It was a good tour length as well. We fitted in a lot, but didn't hit the "mummy-overload" point. After the tour we were able to walk around on our own for as long as we wanted, so you can always go back and look at other exhibits you're interested in. Hosni was a great guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. We really enjoyed our time with him.

Mahmoud, our guide, was friendly. He gave us a nice overview of the museum. I am disappointed he did not accomodate to my request of focusing on a certain aspect / historical period of the museum. Instead, he just showed us what he wanted.

Very good tour. The guide was helpful and knowledgeable. She was quite thorough and we had plenty of time at the museum. The lunch had the best chicken during our Cairo trip. We were not aware of the Egyptian cotton and papyrus shop stops with the tour. There were some good things, but seems a bit of pressure to buy stuff. All in all it was a good tour.

Our tour guide Ahmed was very communicative from the beginning as to the confirmation and pick up times. His knowledge was outstanding and very much appreciated. Ahmed made us feel comfortable in a country we’ve never been. Our guide was kind enough to treat us to some Turkish coffee. Overall pleased with the service. I will say that Deluxe tours can offer you many other tours, recommended so that you can consistently get the same quality of service.

Be prepared for an extremely busy museum with bus loads of tourists. If I were going on my own I would do the audio tour.
