Not traditional sailing experience, but nice way to view Halifax

Check in was a breeze. The tour guide gave us the opportunity to assist raising the sails on this hybrid boat. I was disappointed that the boat was motorized as this was not the experience that I was expecting. There was a good mix of information given, jokes and time to enjoy the views of the harbour. Of note, there is a pride flag that was flying just below the Canadian flag on one of the masts of the ship.

Really everything was just wonderful… when the sails were hoisted it was very memorable! Our only concern was when the commentator/tour guide needed to be reminded to include Saskatchewan as she was going through the provinces!

The young tour guide was great. The weather was beautiful. The wind and seas were calm. An exciting way to spend a couple of hours viewing the Halifax Harbour.

Silva Ship in Halifax

We went out in Halifax on a beautiful day. Crew was nice but very disappointed that we never left the harbour. We expected to get out and see the sea not Dartmouth and the shipyard in Halifax. Also, on our return to port the crew member told me to get my hands in the boat because we might hit the dock. The captain hit the dock and my family and I were covered in splinters. Thankfully we weren’t hurt. Could have damaged someone that was facing the dock. I will check closer with my next trip to make sure we are not disappointed.

Disappointed in refund policy

We did not go due to weather. We were driving from New Brunswick and just outside Halifax was hit with a huge rain downpour two times. When we realized Halifax was under a heavy rainfall warning we did not feel comfortable with the idea of being on the water. Of course we Understood it was non refundable but I think when there is a weather warning the policy should be changed. The policy should be non refundable for weather with the exception of weather warnings especially consider the floods and rainfall previously in Halifax that even meteorologists couldn’t predict.

This was a fun excursion. The ship left the dock right on time and returned on time as well. It was fun to watch as the sails where hoisted and then stowed. This is a sailing tour only. They did give us a look below deck and talked about the ship. There was not much information given in the way of a sightseeing tour but that was disclosed at booking. It was excellent to be on a schooner at full sail in the bay!! The crew was accessible and ready to answer any questions asked. Great fun for everyone!

This was a nice boat ride. The boat was very full people crowded all over. You were able to go with the captain to explore different things. You could participate in raising the sails but there was so many people to get a chance was almostimpossible.
