Marlon was an excellent tour guide. We had such fun with him, touring Belen Market , which is crazy in comparison to the US.. Tuk Tuks dominate the streets (and actually got us to the start of the tour), and items for sale were so interesting and different. Then he took us in a small motor boat to view the houses on the water, and even gave us a quick tour of one, which made us feel like we belonged. Growing up in the Amazon and living in Iquitos, Marlon knew a lot of people and showed us things and places we never would have seen otherwise, dealing with locals to get us from one place to the next. There’s not a lot of English speakers in Iquitos. This tour is not just about seeing things. To us, it was the opportunity to learn and interact with the locals by being with a local. Thank you, Marlon for spending the time with us. We will never forget it.

As a young woman traveling alone, I can attest to the safety of this tour with Marlon. He is clearly well respected by his neighbors. I had been warned by Google reviews on the Market to watch my pockets, but we were given a wide berth, no even came close to me while walking with him. I am very grateful to him for the experience he provided, it was very eye opening to get into the roots of the town and really see how the locals live. I will definitely be coming back, as well as recommending the experience to anyone I know that comes to Iquitos.

This tour helped me understand and see the lives of local people in the Belén neighborhood. It was raw and unfiltered. I'm grateful to Marlon who generously guided me through the market, local streets, the Itaya river and his home.

Excellent morning spent exploring the local market and neighbourhood of Belen with Marlon, a friendly and informative local guide. He showed us round a part of town we definitely would have got lost in and explained what all of the many fruits, vegetables, and products on display were, as well as talking to us about life for locals in this part of Iquitos. I would highly recommend.

We had an awesome tour around the markets and La Venecia Lorenta. Marlon is a local to Belen and shared his vast knowledge about different foods and medicinal plants. We appreciated him pointing us to the right direction regarding foods we may or may not able to digest well. It was pleasure to meet also Marlon’s family and see how the locals live. Definitely recommend!!
