    Worst Ramen Experience
    Jack_W, Apr 2024
Terrible experience, Ramen assembly aimed at tourists, it is conducted in a bar, you don’t cook anything and you read from a website printout about the history of Ramen. Not a very sterile environment for cooking and the meat is left out in the warm for too long. Strongly advise against this!

Monumental waste of time and money.

The event venue is located in one of the most touristy parts of Tokyo. It’s marketed on Viator, clearly aimed at Western clientele. Yet not a Lick of English is spoken by the hosts. Tokyo has 14 million people. They couldn’t find ONE person with decent English. No effort made to reduce (forget remove) the language barrier, but they still want your money. Further, this is not a Ramen making experience, as others have noted. This farce consists of a 20 minute “lecture” about the history of ramen delivered by someone who tried to memorize but still can’t pronounce English words. The whole act is quite preposterous because you cannot ask the “lecturer” any questions as he’s unable to communicate in English outside his script. It’s clearly meant to stretch time as the “making phase” consists of dumping premade ingredients into a bowl and takes no more than three minutes. Their ramen base is a pre-made pork-based broth, which smelled quite revolting. I happen to avoid pork and the whole experience was a total bust as no other choice of making ingredients was provided. Our experience was supposed to include one soft drink. I was shocked when they started nickel and diming me saying that a “soft drink” has to be ¥500 or less and refused to serve my kids Coke stating that was not a soft drink in their book. I could have tea or ginger ale or water, but a Coke would have to be extra. What a pathetic display of greed despite the fact that I didn’t even touch the Ramen I made, nor did I or my wife use our drink “allowance”. I would recommend you steer clear of this production. Also read carefully the positive reviews because they seem to have a lot in common. Use your own judgment.

Mitsuru was a great guide. Had a wonderful time putting together my own ramen, and learning more about ramen history as well. And then eating big bowl of ramen with a beer - heaven!

Save your money. Do something else.
    Lisa_T, Jan 2024
In truth, not worth the money. The guys were nice enough but spoke very little English so relied heavily on phone translator. The history of ramen lesson was a print out of historical dates/facts for you to read on your own. There was a shift change in the middle of our visit meaning the person we started with left after 10 minutes and then we had someone new. We were prepared this wasn’t a cooking class, more of a “put things in a bowl” class. However, due to language barrier, there wasn’t even, here’s why we use these ingredients or discussion on how noodles or broth are prepared. The 2nd instructor was very quiet and only engaged when we asked him questions or shared things about Japan we were interested in. Then he was helpful with ideas and looking things up for us. However. If we hadn’t taken the initiative, he wouldn’t have said a word. The value for money just isn’t there. It’s a shame. This could be a super cool and fun experience with a few changes to the program. Until then, save your money and find another activity.

Good experience. About 1 hour long. Includes making the Ramen brief and eating afterward. The restaurant/bar is nice. Would recommend. Includes history of ramen and making the ramen itself to some extent. Food was good. good short excursion experience would recommend

It's a simple ramen making experience that takes about an hour, so it's perfect for a short time. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for coming.

We had such a great time with Yuta! We learned alol about the history of ramen before we made some. It was simple but delicious.

    Not a real cooking class
    Olga_M, Dec 2023
The ramen was very tasty and the person in charge was really kind and tried his best to communicate with us via Google Translate. We were disappointed though because there was no real cooking involved. We basically boiled the noodles, added a spoon of soy sauce and put the noodles in a soup that was already pre-made and heated. When it comes to toppings, we didn't even crack the egg nor cooked the meat, they gave us everyhing ready on a plate. However, if you are looking for a fun experience, I would go for it, I just don't think it is worth the money.
    Response from Host, Dec 2023
If you want to learn how to cook, we recommend a full-fledged cooking class. We're an experience where you can make ramen as easily as possible and enjoy it in about an hour. We will continue to strive to satisfy everyone.
