Meet us outside the port in Puerto Limon, around 150 to 350 meters (160 to 380 yards) from the ship towards the Vargas Park. Please walk from the ship through the crosswalk and souvenir tents until you see the public street after the exit gates. Your guide will be holding the logo RELAX DAY TOURS.

Several stops on this 3-4 hour tour make it a bargain - our guide JC was very knowledgeable and Fabian provided stressfree transportation in a comfortable vehicle. The Tortuguero Canal boat ride was great - no guarantee of seeing animals of course, but the boat pilot was very experienced and knew exactly where to go! The only downside is that I didn't listen to JC when he said at Playa Bonita to eat from the buffet if you are going to eat, and that there is a 10% tax on everything. I ended up eating my food in the tour bus because it took forever. I enjoyed all the stops and definitely recommend this tour! No stress at all in getting back to the ship in time. Thank you for a great day in Costa Rica!

Larry was the best guide. He made sure we were having a great time. Loved the tour. He showed us so much in the banana plantation. We love the boat tour and the monkeys, and other wildlife.

JC was one of the best tour guides I have had from Viator.
Everything was top notch from meeting Relax Day Tours at the planned site, comfort of the van and the detail of the tour. The driver (sorry forgot his name) was top notch as well, trying to find different fruits & animals along the scenic tour to give additional detail.
The whole tour was informational but yet at a pleasant pace. JC also gives local insight, even the appropriate stop to buy Costa Rican Coffee and goods.
Highly recommend Relax Day Tours, as their communication was excellent & if you get a chance, request JC, you will have an extremely informative tour. 5-STAR

Tour guide Larry, van driver and Carlos the boat driver were wonderful. They made the trip so enjoyable. We saw a sloth, crocodile, monkeys and birds.

Larry had a fun personality. We stopped on the side of the road to see some sloths and a monkey. We went to a banana plantation which wasn’t part of our tour which made our tour go longer than it should have. It was cloudy so we didn’t see as much wildlife as we hoped but it was an interesting canal ride.

The tour itself was fine, river portion was excellent. Our issue was with time management of the tour. Instructions were very specific on where to meet and when it would leave. We waited for nearly 30 minutes for three missing members before leaving, made one stop at the Cathedral then had to backtrack to the starting point to pick them up. At the start of the tour, the entire group who were all on the same cruise ship, expressed 2 things to the guide - we would like time to shop at the port area and, most importantly, we had to stay on ship's time, one hour later than local time. We rushed through the banana plantation, only to languish at a roadside souvenir shop where we were expected to buy things. By this time, time was getting tight but we continued back into Limon, past the cruise port and on to a beach and restaurant. Mind you, it was a very rainy day, not conducive to going to a beach and again, we were encouraged to spend money with the guide stating that we would be there for at least one hour. With travel time, that would have had us literally rushing for our ship and no time to shop. We were somewhat panicked as ships will not wait if you are not on a sanctioned excursion. The guide finally got the message when we asked about getting alternate transportation back to the port. He did not seem to realize that there was difference in ship time, something that would be vital in this line of business.

We appreciate that you have positive things to say about the tour and the Canals boat ride. We regret that you do not mention that you requested to cancel at the beginning of the tour because you "did not like the weather". As we repeatedly explained, Viator will not refund you if you cancel at the last minute due to normal weather events. The tour started at 10:25 am as scheduled, but the vehicle came back, as a few guests arrived 15 minutes late. We apologize for that delay, even if it was caused by others. Your guide Larry explained that this did not affect the tour, but you still kept pressuring him. You are not expected to buy anything or spend any money, purchases from shops or third parties are optional, as is evident. Oddly enough, at one of the final stops, you even demanded private transportation to go shopping, and complained that the ship was going to leave you behind, which was very unrealistic. The tour finished by 2:45 pm (after nearly 4 hours as advertised) and the ship left port by 5:30 pm, so there was clearly plenty of time. We apologize to other guests who may have been affected by your behavior. We have been operating shore excursions for a very long time, so we are well aware of the importance of getting back on time, and yes, we all know about the difference between ship time and port time, which is why you still had almost 3 hours left to board your ship at the end of the tour. We regret the mistrust you showed, which was unprecedented and, frankly, looks like an attempt to discredit independent shore excursions. Best regards.
