Our guide, Abraham, was so knowledgeable about the history of Mazatlan. He made sure we felt comfortable and safe, went at our pace, and we even made a stop for gelato. It was an excellent tour with a friendly guide. I highly recommend this tour!

Will do this tour again next year

The e-bikes worked great. The tour guide customized the tour to fit our needs. He located a "free" and clean bathroom for us to use. He offered suggestions (when asked) about places to go or food to eat. I would do the tour again.
    Great!

We had a great time! Learning to ride the ebikes took a few min... but ended up being so much fun. Saw some lovely places as well.

Rough start to what ended up being a great tour! The staff at Mazatlan van tours left us sitting for 45 minutes after our start time before our tour guide (who was lovely) came and found us inside. We have electric bikes at home and these bikes are a little clunky and harder to handle, but once you get used to them, they work just fine. Even our youngest, Age 10, Did well with just a bit of practice. We went to a hill nearby the lighthouse, by the cliff divers and the malecon, to the opera (though not inside), to the cathedral, and into the local market.
Must like riding in traffic and dodging pedestrians.

There was a massive breakdown in communication and our ride started almost 45 minutes late. The main reason I wouldn’t recommend this trip is that Mazatlan is not a terribly bike-friendly town. The route tries to avoid big streets, but they’re not always avoidable. You will be riding in traffic, trying to cross busy roads, and dodging pedestrians. The e-bikes in use are incredibly heavy. That makes starting and stopping a bit of a challenge. I enjoyed seeing what we saw, and when I wasn’t afraid I would die in traffic, had a nice time. I would not recommend this particular trip though. It’s easy for people coming in on a cruise to join in but others (like us) have to get to the cruise terminal somehow. This was not my first bike tour. I’ve done them in Rome, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Tallinn, and several other places. But it’s the only time I was in fear for my life.
    Very informative

Knowledgeable tour guide and excellent tour. It was a great tour of the city and its architecture. I want one of those bikes!
    Fun on bikes!

Told the history of different parts of the city was interesting and fun. Our guide Sebastian was fantastic!
Knowledgeable and personable guide. Bikes a bit tricky.
    LisaC, Jan 2024
Sebastian is a wonderful guide. As a former teacher, he explained a lot about the town and answered all our questions. His personality is perfectly suited to being a tour guide. Be a bit careful about these bikes. We had been on e-bike tours before with no problems. These bikes are a bit different - heavier and with slightly different controls. The bikes would sometimes surge just as you are trying to brake. Do ask to practice before going out on the tour. The traffic can also be a bit heavy in spots and drivers don’t always yield to bicyclists.
    Great way to see city

Our guide was nice, shared a lot of cultural knowledge. It was a great way to see different areas. The cliff divers were awesome.
    Riding In the City

Juan was so personable and knowledgable about the city. He gave us time to take pictures at explain the history of the various monuments. Juan ensured that our safety was paramount through the whole excursion and even gave us ideas of places to visit outside of the excursion. Juan made a fun and memorable time with my family and we even incorporated play which is always fun!!
    Terrific experience!

Sebastian was a fantastic guide! My partner and I came from the RIU and Sebastian gave us really great travelling tips for the remainder of our time here in Mazatlan. Would highly recommend for any families or couples!
    Great Way to See Mazatlán

The Smart Bike Tour was a great way to see all around Mazatlán. Sebastian was a wonderful tour leader; since he is from Mazatlán he could give us great insights into the history of the city. His English is excellent! I highly recommend this tour.
The harbor was closed so we couldn’t go.
    Clyde_H, Sep 2023
Because of a ship sinking in the harbor, the tour was canceled. The company said they would refund the amount we paid. So, next time.
    Electric Tour
    Gary_H, Sep 2023
Sebastian was a very nice guy and knowledgeable about Mazatlan. My wife and I were the only two people in the tour so we had all of our questions answered. Rode the full length of the Malecon and then through Old Town. Stopped at several interesting sights. E-bikes were nice with big tires for going over the bumpy roads. Cruised along nicely.
    Cancelled
    Sandra_W, Aug 2023
This excursion was canceled the day before we were supposed to go. I understand things come up but in their cancellation text, it said the bikes had been inoperable “all month”. Waiting until the day before was unprofessional.
A “must do” highly recommend it
    Mark_R, Apr 2023
“Chito” our guide was amazing. On the bikes, you get to see all the nooks and crannies of the city and experience lots of culture. He showed us the cathedral, the theater, and so many things and then took us for a marvelous lunch.
    Great Excursion!
    Peter_V, Mar 2023
This was an excellent excursion. The bikes were fun and easy to ride and we saw many parts of Mazatlan including the beach. We all went back to the beach later in the day.

    Jessica_H, Feb 2023
The E bikes are a little tricky if it’s your first time. I needed a few practice runs before I was confident to be anywhere near a moving vehicle. After a few practice runs my husband and I found ourselves alone, they left without us but one of the guides eventually came back to get us. The guide was very nice and knowledgeable but at times very hard to hear her. The tour was great, made stops and took breaks. My bike kept cutting out throughout the tour and then eventually did lose all life, but the guide was kind enough to trade bikes for the remainder of the tour which was nice.
Not A Lot To Do in Mazatlan
    Bryan_S, Feb 2023
We had a brand new New tour guide. Nice enough but needs training. Very foggy day. Not much to it. Choose a different way to spend your time. We were on a cruise. This port was quite boring.
    Bikes are worn, loose...
    Bob_S, Jan 2023
Bikes are worn, loose parts and in need of repair. There should be a guide leading and a person in the back of the group for safety. We had two people crash (in experience on thier part) . The guide was way ahead of the group and with no one in back to watch it created safety issues multiple times. We learned a little but not much. The guide himself was good.
