The Florida Everglades is one of only two everglade systems in the world. Experience this abundant ecosystem by kayak during this half-day excursion. Join a small group and paddle through the mangrove forests to observe local wildlife including alligators, turtles, and several bird species. While you paddle, learn about conservation efforts from your naturalist guide.

Safety Instruction and Paddle Talk before the adventure

Meeting point

We will meet at the intersection of highway 41 (Tamiami Trail) and 29. There is a Large white building (This is not our office). When you are at the meeting spot you you will see the Marathon Gas Station with a Subway across the street, this is the closest restroom until we get to the kayak launch.

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Great time! Lots of 'gators, though none were moving. The mangrove tunnel is beautiful. We saw an Osprey couple testing their "mate for life" reputation. On the way out, she wasn't letting him into the nest. On the way back, he was eating a fish and not letting her have any.

We could not have been happier with our trip and especially our guide, Joe. We got to see signs we could not possibly have seen from road…mangrove tunnel, so many beautiful birds, turtles, orchids and oh yes, alligators. We felt safe as we were deep in the swamp area. Joe taught us about the animals, trees, plants and history…leaned much more that we had expected. And if just paddling is your preference, he’s super chill and can let you just paddle in quiet. So glad we took the time to take this trip….the highlight of the Everglades part of our trip.

Lovely easy going kayak trip. Mangroves, open spots. Much to enjoy. Saw some wildlife, mainly birds some small alligators. Photogenic place for sure. Do find it a tad expensive compared to others.

Excellent tour. We paddled trough magnificent tunnels, saw lots of alligators, watched impressive birds fly by. All with a great tour guide with very interesting explanations. I would recommend this a lot!

I definitely got my money’s worth on this guided tour through the everglades mangrove tunnels. Our tour guide, Patrick was absolutely amazing! We were out in the water for about 4 hours and we saw many different types of animals throughout our trip. We were up close and personal with some alligators! I would definitely take this tour again.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you mentioning how nice our guides are and that the river is nice as well. I am sorry that you felt like the trip was too expensive; one factor in this is the currency exchange rate, which we of course cannot control. We do offer less expensive options on the same river, such as our 2 hour trip and our Marco island mangrove maze as well. We aren’t trying to be defensive but we do want the people who view this to understand why we think Shurr Adventures is a great choice. Our price point is similar to the other companies on this highly sought after Turner river that only a few other companies have permits for. This river is one of Florida’s premiere rivers and the crown jewel of the Everglades area; there are three unique ecosystems on the Turner River. Most of the other companies offering Everglades kayaking trips are paddling in less impressive areas. They do not have the same opportunities to see wildlife, plant life, and the unique mangrove tunnels as we do on the Turner River. This is also the only mangrove tunnel tour without tides making it easier for our guests. Our group sizes are only 8 people max on this river verses 15 people for other companies. On the day you went it was just your group with the guide. If you were with another company you might have had up to 13 other people on your trip and with the language barrier James wouldn’t have been able to give you to the personalized attention for your safety and trip enjoyment. During our last 17 years of business our guests usually love this trip and for many of our guests it’s the highlight of their vacation. We really wish you had the same experience, and as a small family business we truly care about every person we take out. Please give us another chance when you are back in this area or on our Yellowstone National park tours in the summer and fall. We are working on ways to help the language barrier as well for future trips we want to make sure everyone can understand what makes this so special.
