      Great tour of harlem!
      Kafi_H, Mar 2024
It was a great experience learning more about harlem and the details of the harlem Renaissance. Larry was extremely knowledgeable about the history and I truly enjoyed the stops we made and the nuggets of information. My favorite part was the personal connection with the people in the neighborhood and learning about how Langston Hughes left his mark and legacy in harlem. I enjoyed this tour with my sons age 12 and 15. I want to come back with my father who is an avid jazz fan.
      The riches of Harlem.
      Beverly_H, Mar 2024
I always heard about Harlem and its rich history, never knew about how it was developed and why. Every stop along the way I learned something new about Harlem and its culture. On my next visit I will return to Harlem and visit Hotel Victoria. Now that I know Larry gives other NY tours, I will make them a part of my visit again.
A Fantastic Walking Tour of Harlem

I did The Soul of Harlem Walking Tour today because I had a cousin in town who wanted to visit Harlem. It was such a great experience. Our tour guide Larry was so knowledgeable and passionate about Harlem and really went out of his way to make the experience enjoyable for all of us. I highly recommend taking this tour. It was a great day that I’ll never forget.

I read about The Tour of Harlem in an article in the Christian Science Monitor that inspired me to actually take the tour in my upcoming trip to NYC. Larry who gives the tour was outstanding in his knowledge of Harlem’s history, the Harlem Renaissance, black, historical landmarks, social justice activists, and current events. Larry was engaging truly conducts an inspiring tour. I highly recommend this tour!

      Janice_F, Mar 2024
Everyone who visits New York should take Larry's Soul of Harlem Walking Tour. It was very informative, covering the history of Harlem and the very important period of the Harlem Renaissance. Larry was knowledgeable and enthusiastic, well organized and an excellent communicator, including before the tour.
      Amazing perspectives of Harlem!
      Tara_B, Mar 2024
Larry was an AWESOME tour guide on our Harlem Renaissance tour! He started at the Harlem Metro North Line and explained some fantastic art that I would never have stumbled on if I were on my own. He talked about the importance of Langston Hughes to the area, as well as about the incredible jazz musicians and mural artists who made Harlem a cultural mecca. We finally ended the tour with a stop at the Apollo on the famous 125th Street. I highly recommend you take this tour to discover a part of NY that makes New York the greatest city in the world! Thank you Larry!!
A must-do tour for any visitors AND natives of NYC!
      Noreen_B, Feb 2024
This walking tour won't disappoint! We had a fantastic tour guide, Larry, who was so knowledgeable, funny, and kind. Larry gave us lots of historical and cultural information and was more than happy to answer questions. Even on a chilly February day, we enjoyed our walk and every stop along the way. Larry showed us the heart and soul of Harlem throughout Harlem's past and future. It is a beautiful town full of beautiful people with impressive musical, literary, and cultural history. From native New Yorkers to out-of-towners, this tour is a must-do. We will be back in Harlem on our own to try all the other things to do/ see and places to eat, Larry recommended. This tour is a must-do.
      Best tour I’ve ever done!

We really enjoyed Larry’s extensive knowledge of Harlem. He was engaging and set a relaxed pace, happy to answer our questions. A great experience
      Expert tour!
      Brandon_S, Jan 2024
Larry is an expert in Harlem history, literally having written a book on the subject! He knows all the spots and all the people on the tour. He does a great job of talking through the history as well as the present and future of the area. His “ins” with local businesses end up paying dividends in the way of (delicious and famous!) cake, warm drinks, and shelter on a blustery winter day! I could not recommend more strongly—Larry is THE guy!
      Amazing highlights of Harlem’s Renaissance
      Sarah_T, Jan 2024
Seeing areas of Harlem like Langston Hughes’ house and the YMCA that I’ve read about for years was really cool! Larry was so engaging, a wonderful storyteller!
