It was one of the best hikes I've ever been on! It was challenging at some points but was well worth the effort and sore legs the next day! The diverse landscape and scenery were magnificent! I'm so glad I booked this company they made sure we were well prepared (it is not a stroll in the park!) and our guide tailored the walk to meet everyone's needs. She gave us lots of information along the way and we had plenty of 'comfort' stops to take photos. A very memorable day and a highlight of my amazing trip to New Zealand!!

5 Stars for Richard - The Quintessential Hike Guide!
Omar_A, Dec 2023
Our hike across the Tongariro Alpine crossing couldn't have been better, all thanks to Richard, our guide. His amiable nature instantly puts everyone at ease, creating a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere for all within the group. His profound knowledge and passion for the landscape are evident and he shares intriguing facts and stories that enrich the journey. Richard's approach is never to rush, but to ensure everyone experiences the hike at their own pace, making it a personal and unique adventure for each of us. His thoughtfulness and thorough preparation were also commendable. He seemed to anticipate every need and contingency, contributing to an impeccably smooth experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Richard for anyone looking to explore Tongariro - his guidance truly enhances the adventure!

Incredible day spent walking the Tongariro crossing. We loved our day and would recommend to anyone that enjoys hiking and great views. Don’t let the devil’s staircase scare you out of doing this hike! The guides set a good pace and the entire time, made sure everyone was ok. A highlight of our trip to NZ.

It’s a really nice trip for a winter crossing. The guide was excellent and gave sufficient safety support as well as valuable experience sharing.

Really great tour the guides motivated everyone to complete the hike and we're really nice! It is worth the money do not try to do this hike alone.

Great leads.. felt completely safe and they took account of varying needs in the group well
Penny_G, Sep 2023
Being given permission to sledge down a snow slope on my bottom! I was one of the slowest in the group (which i had expected) but was encouraged all the way. Loved the chance to scramble and slide down scree slopes and feel safe.

Must-go
Valmir_M, Jun 2023
I had the most amazing time with Hazel who took us through the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. It was lovely day, great weather and the landscape, oh, my God. They provided crampons to us to make it through some ice, but it was a nice and steady hike. It is not that difficult as everyone says. If you go very calmly, you can make it easily. A must-go.
Fabulous scenery, great route
Michael_C, May 2023
Great hike, very ably lead by Wayne - our guide. Beautiful scenery, blessed with great weather. Long-ish walk (20km), but we'll worth the effort.
Fear of heights? No problem.
Ong_Z, Dec 2022
Adrift Tongairo really made sure that our needs are well taken care of. It started with providing equipment and clothing to ensure that we are warm. Our guide Wayne was professional and friendly and made sure that all of us could complete the trek — even someone like me who was afraid of heights! Highly recommend.
