What To Expect

Additional Info

  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking, unless booked within 1 day of travel. In this case confirmation will be received as soon as possible, subject to availability
  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Blenheim palace is located just next to Woodstock village, so we recommend you visit both locations in your free time after the guided tour.
  • PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME AT THE AGREED MEETING POINT:
  • Stroller accessible
  • Please arrive 5 minutes early for your tour at our meeting point. If you arrive more than 5 minutes later than the scheduled tour, then you might forfeit and lose your booking as if your arriving late, as this may interrupt the guide and other customers, if we are trying to find you after a guide has started and left the meeting point.
  • WE OFFER YOU THE OPTION TO EITHER MEET US in OXFORD TO CATCH THE PUBLIC BUS WITH US TO THE PALACE OR TO MEET US AT 2PM AT THE PALACE, LOCATED ABOUT HALF HOUR DRIVE AWAY FROM OXFORD CITY.
  • Near public transportation
  • INFO FOR DRIVERS AND PARKING:
  • If you are driving, then please allow extra 30-60 minutes over whatever time you think it will take you to get here. Oxford is NOT car friendly and it is congested roads and hard to find parking spaces....unless you park at the sign posted 'park and rides' on edge of town on any major road into the city and hop on their buses into city centre. The park and ride buses leave every 15 or every 30 minutes and take anything from 10 min to 30 min (depending on traffic) to reach city centre. So if you are going to drive, then please assume you should be aiming to park your car about one hour before your tour starts.
  • Transportation is wheelchair accessible
  • PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
  • We actually recommend instead using the much faster and reliable train services but again please aim to arrive about an hour or earlier before your tour starts as trains can be delayed and the train and coach station are about 15 minutes walk from our meeting point. There is also the coach service from London called the Oxford Tube which leaves every half hour or more but it can take much longer than its advertised 105 minute journey time. It drops you off either at High street Oxford or Gloucester Green coach station. It's quicker to ask to get off on High street near Carfax tower, then it's a 10 minutes walk to Broad street.
  • Most travelers can participate
  • This is a private tour/activity. Only your group will participate

Unforgettable day trip to Blenheim Palace

We had a most enjoyable time with our very knowledgeable and friendly guide Peter, who gave us a very good account of the history of the Palace.

The palace is impressive and my guide, Tom, was most engaging and full of knowledge about its history.

Good tour of Blenheim palace. Tour guide Mr Michiel Van Hout was great. Highly recommended. Only audio guide being allowed inside the palace - is bit irritating, however it was over come by Michiel discreetly.
Response from Host, Jul 2019
Hi. Thanks for recommending your Blenheim palace tour with us with pick up from Oxford. I agree with you that the palace staff recently have started to become rather pedantically obsessed with their audio guide system being prioritised over anyone wanting to visit the palace without audio guide. Obviously you can learn a lot more with a private guide who happens to be an artist and someone who has worked at the palace than you can from a very long winded detail heavy audio guide. As a result, we restrict our group size to maximum 6 persons on this tour and indeed to date, nearly 100% of al palace tour bookings have been private group tours. Thanks for choosing Visit Oxford Tours. Sincerely

Taxi driver Duci was prompt, friendly driving us from London to Oxford. Equally we enjoyed our tour of Blenheim Palace with iloveoxford tours.Alastair and Michiel were a pleasure to meet. Michiel was a FABULOUS resource through the palace with his knowledge of history and art and personal gracious manner.
Could not recommend.

I could not recommend this tour, although I thought the tour company did a great job in helping me with logistics. In first place the 'with transport' aspect is just that someone walks with you to the bus. Our tour guide did not stop with us to talk about the estate or about physical abilities (Blenheim is BIG. The exterior is on uneven turf. The estate is not especially accessible) but instead set a quick pace to the nearby bus station. I didn't feel like he delivered information that was over and above a good audio guide. And he could not seem to understand that some of us could not or didn't care to walk as fast as he did through the estate. In short there is no value add. Just go to Blenheim by the local bus, walk from one of the two stops, and pay yourself. I was frankly very disappointed and both of us felt this was the worst day of our trip.
