Great experience!!!

It was a perfect day!!! Adam was our tour guide. He was awesome!! He gave us a lot of interesting facts about the Amish way of life. A great learning experience. We definitely recommend this tour to the Amish Village.

Thank you so much for joining us on our driving tour out to Amish Country, and for leaving this great review!
Liked the tour

If you're interested in learning about the Amish then this is a good tour to immerse yourself a little bit into that world. I got to learn about their origins in Europe and how they eventually ended up in Pennsylvania. The tourguide, James, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and was a safe driver. He could tell us the do's and don't when interacting with the Amish culture. Their food is amazing (the apple dumpling is close to the Apfelstrudel you get in Vienna).
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Thank you Tim! The apple dumpling is definitely delicious, like all the other food you find out in Lancaster County. And the history of the Amish community and their traditions is absolutely fascinating!
A Once In A Lifetime Trip

This was one of the most incredible day trips I've taken. My friend and I were lucky enough to be the only ones on the tour, and we had the absolute best time with Dale. He was entertaining, knowledgable and a pleasure to chat with throughout the day, and the experience itself was a memorable exploration of a unique and fascinating community that I will never forget.
Perfect solo tour!

Wow! What can i say?! Marty was the BEST guide! I arrived at the waiting point and Marty arrived promptly and informed me that I’d be the only one in the tour, invited me to sit upfront and off we went! Marty was brilliant, he shared many interesting facts not only about the Amish but Philly as we drove out the city. We also chatted like old friends since i ended up in a private tour! We made plenty of stops and Marty interacted with the local Amish who it’s clear he has a great relationship with! There’s no pressure to buy any thing from any one even though you’re visiting businesses. He kept checking in with me making sure i was enjoying it and offered to tailor the tour to my needs and wants. We stopped for a lunch which was recommended and was lovely! The day was amazing, highlights include holding some puppies, interesting with Marty and the Amish and my extra bonus tour of some of the street art in Philly. Marty truly was the best and I couldn’t fault this experience! Don’t hesitate to book this tour, it really made my experience of Pennsylvania the most exception!
A delight for sure!

First and foremost Marty was an amazing tour guide! He clearly knew a great deal about the Amish. Moreover, I was concerned we might be a bit looky loo in this tour and that was absolutely not the case. Marty had the greatest respect for the people and the community. That came through in the relationships that he has established with people and all of his narrative throughout the day. He shared general information and was able to answer most of our questions ranging from the general to the specific. If he didn’t know, he was able to direct us to someone who might have more information and they generally did. The tour van was neat and clean and he did an excellent job navigating us around safely. He gave us options that tailored the trip to our specific interests within a frame of choices and we had a wonderful lunch at Bird in Hand! We had hoped to get a general understanding of what guides the Amish community at their core and we walked away with that and more. Dick was shadowing and he had a ton of information that really added to the general fun and opportunity to learn throughout the trip. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough to you if you’re interested in learning about the Amish. Be forewarned that your interactions are going to be through businesses as that’s the respectful way to meet Amish people, so if that is going to be off putting for you, this may not be the tour for you. If you want an opportunity to respectfully observe, interact with, and converse with an amazing person like Marty to expand your knowledge, all while having fun, then this is the tour for you!

Great tour! Lancaster County is very close to Phiadelphia. We’ve spent some hours learning about the history of the Amish, their beliefs and community life, visited some of the stores run by them and tried some of the delicious products they sell, especially cheese and ice-cream. Marty was a very nice guide, punctual, well-informed and ready to answer to the groups’ questions. I highly recommend this tour!
A day in Amish community
Yumiko_O, Dec 2023
James is a great tour guide bringing his past teaching and research career in history. He talks a lot about the historical and cultural aspects of the life of Amish communities in PA. The tour goes to the main tourist attractions and shops in the community. One thing to note - the lunch you will have in the tour will be pretty big. I would recommend not to have a big breakfast in the morning to fully enjoy the lunch.
Great day excursion
Sheila_B, Dec 2023
We were blessed to be the only couple on the tour due to it being the off season. Snow flurries on the way there as well as a sighting of 2 bald eagles was an added bonus. Our tour guide, Tom, was phenomenal and a wealth of knowledge. We learned so much about the Amish community and have a newfound respect for their way of living. Happy we did this the 1st day of our trip because we were given tips on other things to do during our stay in Philadelphia. Would highly recommend.
Fun Day

James was a great tour guide. We learded a lot from him. It was a gorgeous fall day for sightseeing.
Lovely day
Keren_P, Nov 2023
Really enjoyed the Amish village museum. Loved that they opened it for us off-season - and just for us as the only people on the tour. The scenery was beautiful and Tom our guide very knowledgeable about the area and the people, pointing out interesting things along the way.
Excellent tour

Great day, Adam was an excellent guide. I have been to area before but have not had such an in-depth experience . Beautiful scenery, met lovely travellers.

Thank you Jennifer! Lancaster County is a breathtaking piece of countryside and the Amish culture is so unique. I am glad to hear that you had a wonderful experience.
Best trip ever

Wonderful day Our guide Marty ensured that we had a great experience making multiple stops. Great lunch & snack stops. Learned so much about the Amish way of life - lovely people. Best US trip that we have ever done.
Response from Host, Oct 2023
Wow that is very high praise indeed! But I get it....Lancaster County is stunning and Marty and our team of guides do such a great job of showing guests the amazing world of the Amish community.
What a lovely experience
Joanna_M, Sep 2023
Just a lovely day tour with great guide and company . Enjoyed all the information I learned but also thoroughly enjoyed the journey around the area.
A commercial tourist trap.
Amy_B, Sep 2023
Best part was getting home after visiting so many Amish stores and animals- a waste of a day. Too commercial. Terrible lunch booked and never asked where we would like to eat - dietary issues etc. Guide was very good in terms of knowledge but it felt like the day was being filled up with visiting shops and looking at chickens and goats. At least I know the history better but I honestly would not recommend anyone to take this trip - too repetitive.

The driver was excellent but the venues that we went too were expensive and commercialized. The Amish are out to make as much money as possible.

Information about the Amish community. Our guide was very knowledgeable. The lunch at Bird in Hand was fabulous.
A very good tour.
Edward_M, Sep 2023
The small group format with knowledgeable guides. In a small van so we could stop in many more places than a bus..
A must see trip.
Mariette_F, Aug 2023
The beautiful farmlands, seeing corn harvested and the delicious food. Adam was our guide and he did a wonderful job explaining the Amish way of life.
