Had a wonderful time visiting the Valley Forge, learned a lot about the history of the site and the roles of some of the key players. So if you're interested in that, this is a good half-day tour. My guide was Dale, he was very friendly, knowledgeable and a safe driver. Since I was the only one on the tour, he was flexible enough to also drop me off at the museum of the American Revolution so I could also see Washington's tent and other items related to the Valley Forge history.
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Thank you Tim! It sounds like you had our Valley Forge/Museum of the American Revolution combo ticket, which is a great value! Both sites for a discounted price, and the immersive historical experience you get at both sites is incredible.
Excellent tour guide

Excellent tour guide. Very knowledgeable, friendly and articulate. We enjoyed the tour very much. We were surprised by some of the information as we thought Valley Forge had been a Battlefield. We especially enjoyed visiting Washington's headquarters.
Do not give them your money, unless you want to contribute to the corruption
Alan_S, Apr 2024
I stood in the cold for almost 45 minutes at a precise location where the vendor indicated I would be picked up. They never showed. But what is worse When I asked for a refund because of what didn’t happen, they said unfortunately we cannot refund your money. That is BS and very unfair. Never use this tour unless you want to be ripped off.
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Hello Alan. I am sorry to see this review. I was your guide that day, and I arrived at our pick up location ten minutes before the tour start time. I called you at 9:00am (the tour start time) to ask if you were still joining or if you needed assistance in locating our pick up point, and the call went straight to voicemail. You were my only guest booked that day, so I waited until 15 minutes past the pick up time. I welcome you to call our office at 215-280-3746 if you would like to go over any of this. Thank you.

Our guide Dale was a walking encyclopedia who really brought the experience to life for our group. The soldiers huts, Washington chapel, and the overall landscape was amazing to witness first hand.
Great Experience!

Adam was a fantastic guide. He has a masters degree in US history and gave great insight into Valley Forge and context for its importance to surrounding historical events. He was very personable and easy to talk to, and the van was clean and comfortable. We were two families with early teenage kids and we all really enjoyed this tour. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Philadelphia for its historical significance.

Thank you Nancy! That park is an incredible place to visit. The stories about the winter encampment are fascinating, the people were larger than life and the park today is beautifully preserved. We appreciate you choosing WeVenture for this experience!
A wonderful time
brenda_r, Feb 2024
This tour was wonderful! Rick did an exceptional job of determining our current level of knowledge along with our specific areas of interest and then molded the tour to fit those needs. As Washington’s headquarters is generally closed in January and February (except for his birthday I believe I heard the park ranger say) he took us to the Cliveden (Cliv- dun), Benjamin Chew house. There we had the opportunity to learn about 1 of 2 battles in Philadelphia, and the 1 land battle. We saw for ourselves what little impact the canons had on the house where the British had taken refuge and that’s even 200+ years later. This made an excellent start to our tour through Valley Forge as it gave it preceding context. When we arrived at the Visitor Center, we had an opportunity to use the restroom, obtain the national park stamp, and peruse the shop at our leisure, which I mention in case those are important to you as you consider this tour. We had time to walk through the exhibits and read and were given flexibility on which of the movie times we wanted. The movie plays on the half hour. As a group, we really enjoy reading through the exhibits and discussing the artifacts so we opted for more time here, and this was really special, because Rick came through with us and had really excellent discussions throughout as we processed the information that was being presented. It really made a difference as you were processing the content. From there we enjoyed the 19 minute film as an opportunity to situate ourselves further in the larger context. After that we were able to see the redoubt, the small log huts, the commemorative arch, General Washington’s headquarters from the outside, Baron Von Steuben’s statue, and the Washington Memorial Chapel, an operating episcopal church. At each location and throughout the park we had excellent conversations surrounding both historical events and also the mythology, connection, meaning, and symbolism that groups have pulled out of this space since then. It was… impressive to consider the site where over 10,000 troops, and upwards of 12,000 people made a city for the winter and really get a sense of the scope of what was done there. Brittany and Greg shadowed on this trip and they added an additional element of fun and depth of knowledge, which really added to the overall enjoyment of the tour! We enthusiastically recommend this trip to people trying to expand their knowledge and also trying to get a sense of the physical space. Also, give the barracks a try, it was an interesting perspective!

Adam made history come alive. He answered our questions. Adam was wonderful regarding my husband who has to walk with a walking cane. I highly recommend this tour. So much to learn, and thanks to Adam we did learn more than I remembered studying in school. I could have stayed all day listening to Adam inform/teach us. Very enjoyable.
