Highly recommend this excursion. The activities are amazing and beautiful scenery. Having the private tour gives you flexibility for example our guide took us to a souvenir shop on the way back to the resort. Better prices and selection. Gabriel did an outstanding job pointing out various animals during the hike. This has to be the best tour out there….A perfect day!

Amazing personalized local tour

What a great experience. Our day started with a perfect pickup at our hotel promptly on-time. Our guide Miles was friendly and accommodating. Our hike was 2 miles but seemed so much longer in the Costa Rican heat! The waterfalls were simply delightful followed by amazing hot springs experience. Lunch was delicious, our guide shared so much information about his beautiful country and all it has to offer. We were looking for a way to see the local community and nature, Gabriel’s Tour and all the staff come highly recommended if you are ready for an adventure!

My husband and I loved the hike, waterfall, and hot spring tour. Gabriel was a phenomenal tour guide. Very knowledgeable and fun! He allowed us to customize our day, which we loved. The hike was beautiful and the waterfall was breathtaking. Hot springs were a perfect way to end the full day experience. Would definitely return with Gabriel as our guide!

We enjoyed the day from our morning drive to the park to the buffet lunch to end the day. The gentle hike from the arid to the humid forest on the side of the volcano was magical. Flora and fauna which for us included an ant eater in the tree and a whole clan of capuchin monkeys. Danny our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. He made sure to engage our 12 year old son and provided lots of info for us inquisitive adults. The waterfall swim was amazing. And the volcanic mud and hot springs were a super relaxing end to the adventure. I would highly recommend this trip and say that the value is a very good one. Enjoy.

Tour is operated by Gabriel's Tours. Great service! Our tour guides name was Mau and he is so knowledgeable of the area. I would say the hiking portion does require hiking sneakers and moderate physical ability. Buffet style lunch is provided, then the water falls and hot springs are amazing! Bring water shoes and towels. Thank you Mau! I recommend private tour because you can set your own pace and stop at local spots along the way.

Our trip was fantastic. Our guide, Pablo was 10min early waiting for us to start the day off. He was knowledgable and funny. He spent the entire day making sure we were well taken care of and shared lots about Costa Rica. He took lots of photos of us on the hike with our phone and knew all the little tricks to avoid any crowds. The hike, waterfalls and mud/hot springs were all amazing, followed up by a great lunch. We are not big hikers, but it was great, about 1 1/2hrs at a nice pace. The trip is listed as private, and they mean it. It was just my husband and I. Not like other tours where private means small group Not only would I recommend this to others, but I will be booking with them again on my next trip to CR.

This was a great trip for the whole family. Our guide, Gabriel, was top notch and very knowledgeable. We were able to see some great wildlife, spider monkeys, iguanas, toucans and more. The waterfall and mud bath time was nice after the hike through the forest.

The volcano portion was amazing and we saw many birds and monkeys. Gabriel was extremely patient with questions and very knowledgeable about all the flora and fauna. The waterfall was beautiful and refreshing. It was by far the best day tour we have ever been on!!

Not what was described-tons of stairs to climb

The tour guide was fantastic but the trip itself was not at all easy. The hiking was 2 hours of quite a bit of stair climbing to get around the 2 hour loop. We then asked if there were stairs involved for the waterfall portion and to go to the mud bath/Hot Springs. We were told there were not any more stairs which was incorrect! It was another 2 hours of navigating stairs again to these 2 features of the excursion. I am an avid hiker but was not prepared for the intense stair climbing on this tour with the health of my knees. This experience was not like it was described and had I known, I would not have booked this adventure. I would not recommend this tour if you have any physical limitations.

Hi,I'm Gabriel the owner, I would like to know who was your guide ? I'm confused about what you said that the entire 2 hour hike at the volcano was up stairs and olso you had mentioned that it was 2 more hours of stairs to the waterfall, the waterfall is 10 minutes away from the parking area and to get there you have to go down the suspended stairs and then come back up. I feel sorry to hear that the tour was not offered as os described,while it says that participants have to be in a moderate level of physical condition for this trip. Even there are pictures of the different parts of the tour at Viator that you can see before you book. Also one important point to clarify is that our tour is offered as private in order to be flexible and adjust to your physical condition and to make sure you could do it at your own pace. I'm sorry for not feeling your expectations.

Excellent Private Volcano Area Tour

This private tour for us as a couple was worth every penny and we had a really amazing day in the Rincon de la Vieja area with our guide Alberto. He was not only knowledgeable of all things Costa Rica, but he also offered his witty, fun personality that made our adventure even more memorable. We saw toucans, hummingbird, spider monkeys, and more on the hike. Waterfall was beautiful with a refreshing swim. Hot Springs were our favorite. We were back at our resort by 4pm. It didn’t feel like too long of a day at all. We’d highly recommend this tour to anyone. Thanks Alberto!

We had a wonderful tour with Daniel as our guide. He was, friendly, knowledgeable, and very encouraging of our 9-year-old daughter who was with us for the day. We appreciated that he took photos for us so we have a lot of memories. We started with the hike. The path is very well maintained and lots of interesting things to see that we wouldn’t have noticed without Daniel’s guidance. We went to the waterfall next. I appreciated that there was time to have a snack and change into our swim suits in between the hike and the waterfall. The water was cold but very refreshing! Next was the hot springs which was a great time to relax, and my daughter and I loved the mud bath. The lunch was delicious afterwards! I highly recommend this tour, even for younger kids!

Had a great day trip with Pablo! He was very knowledgeable and Costa Rican culture, and spoke excellent English. Great pace, and Pablo always pointed out native trees and plants as well as monkeys, iguanas and butterflies.

My family and I had a great time on this tour! Adalberto was our guide. He was very knowledgeable and funny, which was nice. The waterfall, volcanic activity and hot springs were amazing! I definitely recommend this tour if you don’t have issues walking a lot, especially going down steep stairs. For the price of the tour, it would be nice if cold water was provided. We were able to buy water at a store, but it should definitely be included.

Our tour guide was the absolute best. He knew about all of the different species that were local to the area during our hike. He was friendly and didn't make us feel silly for asking questions throughout the tour. I was nervous about the bridges because my fear of heights and the tour guide put me at ease. He also assisted with taking photos throughout the experience. I would recommend 1000%. The waterfall and hot springs are worth it. It was a once in a lifetime experience.

Amazing private tour. Alberto was incredibly friendly, accomodating, knowledgable, and gave us a fantastic day at Rincon de la Vieja National Park. We really enjoyed Alberto's insights on flora and fauna of the rainforest, local knowledge and stories that let us get to know him personally. The scenery was beautiful and it was a relieve to walk in such a quiet and peaceful environment. He didn't rush us when it came to the hike, time at the waterfall, or at the hot springs. A true sample of outstanding tour guide. Muchísimas gracias Alberto! We HIGHLY recommend Gabriel's Custom Tours.
