What To Expect

Start your day by taking a seat in an air-conditioned vehicle for your transfer. Embark on your journey to local vineyards, where you'll be treated to fine wines and views, and pass by the Duoro River along the way.

As your day goes on, immerse yourself in the winemaking process and take the opportunity to learn directly from the talented winemakers themselves. Then take a break to satisfy your hunger and stop to eat a delicious traditional lunch in the village of Pinhao. Of course, here you have the opportunity to sample multiple port wines.

After a full experience of enjoying flavors and aromas, make your way back in your comfortable vehicle.

Pick ups will be between 8:30 - 9:00 am. We will contact customers by message, with final details the day before the tour;
This tour has two different options, with or without hotel pick up. If you choose the option with the meeting point this tour may or may not be done in a minibus or bus. If you choose the Small Group with hotel pick up option, this tour will be done on a minivan and a group of up to 8 people;
This tour may be done in two languages. We try to avoid it, but sometimes we have no other solution.
For lunch we provide meat, fish and vegan option. (We can also accomodate any dietary restriction with prior notification)

Private option it's done in a private vehicle only with your private guide. The vineyards and rest of the locations are shared with other participants.
For the ones that choose hotel pick-up, if your accomodation is not in a very easy to reach location, we might ask you to meet us at a close by location;
This tour last around 9 hours, but it´s subject to local traffic conditions or visit schedules;
Don´t forget to bring your camera with you!
There is not much walking involved, but please bring comfortable shoes;
We do tours all year round, in the winter it is cold and in the summer it's hot, please dress appropriately
Reschedulings with less than 24 hours before the start of the tour will be charged a 30% fee (subject to availability);
The order of the tour or partners visit are subject to change depending on availability;
This tour/activity will have a maximum of 46 travelers

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.

Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

The Douro Valley is a must see experience while in Porto! The scenery is stunning and you’ll be treated to some old work wine making experiences. The hosts at all of the wineries we visited were very welcoming and shared a lot of their time and knowledge specific to their winery. Our guide, Sara, was fabulous! She was very knowledgeable and really made our trip special. We highly recommend this tour - great value!

The valley and scenery is very beautiful. The wines were very nice and enjoyed learning about the differences. Wineries staff were knowledgeable and informative. Too bad lunch was later in the afternoon- but it was good and the staff service was fun. Our guide Rita was also fun and informative. I would have liked more walking but understood it wasn’t possible.

We had a fantastic day. Pedro was a great host and driver and provided us with a lot of information on the region. The wineries were beautiful and being able to taste wines and ports from three different ones gave us an opportunity to better understand the unique tastes and undertones of each. Lunch was delicious and the views were spectacular. The Douro Valley is a very special place that shouldn’t be missed!

Had a great day overall with some excellent company and beautiful scenery. Only slight downside was the tastings at Fonseca. Wine was very good, of course, but it wasn’t very informative and felt quite rushed. Maybe it’s just relative as the other 2 tasting experiences were fabulous! Andre our tour leader was great fun too.

Paulo was a great cheerful guide! Very knowledgeable on the DRV area and local viniculture. The scenery was lovely! Especially while we had the provided lunch. All 3 wineries wines were excellent, as to be expected in the Douro DOC. Frankly, this was one of our best days of our whole trip, especially with a careful professional driver that knows when and where he is going!

We had the most amazing day in Douro Valley. Hernan was a great guide, so knowledgeable about the history of the area and the wine making processes. Every cellar door we visited was just beautiful - we even had one of them all to ourselves, sitting in the sun trying different ports with a stunning view of the valley. The spots Hernan picked were nice and local, some were family owned businesses too. It was so nice to travel in a small group of 8 compared to being in a big tour bus; didn't feel rushed at all and spent a good amount of time at each vineyard. Highly recommend booking this tour - a must do when in Porto!
