    What To Expect

    Make your way to a pre-arranged meeting location near the Vatican Museums, where you'll catch up with your guide and tour group. With your guide in the lead, proceed directly inside, past the often long queues to buy tickets and gain entry. Waste no time and get started on your guided tour right away.

    Learn about the treasures contained in the impressive Vatican Museums, which include artifacts, statues, mosaics and paintings from the Baroque, Renaissance, and Medieval eras. Your guide's engaging commentary, audible through your included headset, will help you place all of these works in the Vatican's rich history. 

    Continue to the Sistine Chapel, where you'll see Michelangelo's famous works covering the walls and ceiling. Hear about the backstory, which includes difficulties between the artist and his patron, Pope Julius II.

    Skip the line once again to enter St. Peter's Basilica (provided it is open for visitors on the day of your tour). Your guide will point out the important features in the enormous cathedral (including Michelangelo's Pietà), then leave you with time to walk around independently.

        This was a really in depth tour - the guide Andreas was truly knowledgeable ! Plenty of time after to saunter around St. Peter's but too late to head up to the dome ... next time !

        Originally I had booked a 3 hour afternoon tour but this was cancelled due to insufficient numbers. Viator and The Real Rome company were prompt and efficient with their emails and we were offered a 4 hour morning tour with a smaller group at no extra cost. It is better to visit in the morning as it gets very crowded from mid morning onwards. The guide was charming and very knowledgeable, he did not rush us at any point. It is necessary to have a guided tour to get the best from this experience and I thoroughly recommend this tour - the one we ended up with. It was an amazing experience.

        This was an excellent tour. The skip the line feature is great. When we arrived, the line for entrance was several blocks long, We went right to the front and were admitted immediately! The tour moves briskly, with not much time for looking. you have about 15 minutes in the Sistine Chapel. The amount of art and treasures are overwhelming and impressive, Would have liked to stay longer, but the crowds are just huge and the groups all move through in a parade. Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke English well. I would highly recommend this tour.

        Our tour guide was excellent. Experiencing the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica was so much richer by learning from our guide. He clearly knew history, art, politics, and had a good sense of humor. Skipping the 3-4 hour line for tickets was well worth the money spent.
