JC was such an amazing guide! I appreciated his knowledge and how educated his viewpoints are on everything we talked about as a group and personally!!!! The experience was once in a lifetime. I felt safe and I appreciated JC’s extreme regard for the safety of everyone in this group, also making sure to make others less afraid in this new type of adventurous situation. Easy to find the office in town and the shuttle was super clean!!! Everyone that accompanied us was also very friendly and helpful! Thank you for an amazing adventure!!!

Amazing caves of Belize
Ishrat_H, May 2024
Fantastic tour, it was an experience of a lifetime, beautiful formation of stalactites in the caves. JC was very knowledgeable and made the experience more fun.
Wonderful experience

Probably one of the best tours I've been on. Everything about it was excellent. It went from about 7-2 for us which was perfect.
Once in a lifetime experience

A once in a lifetime experience! A great tour with an amazing guide, a very good lunch provided! A full day and lots of mayan history given.

Really fun trip. We have 4 kids and we were worried it might be too tough for our youngest who is 7, however she did great with some extra assistance. It’s a fun adventure and culturally very rich as well, I can’t imagine how long they can continue this tour without artifacts getting damaged or stolen however.
Once in a lifetime experience !

Yes it’s quite intense and intimidating at certain spots. But it’s definitely one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever experienced. Our guide Hue was great. And Maya walks had probably some of the best equipment in comparison to other groups.
Experience Depends on your Tour Guide

This was a very fun tour in concept! We greatly enjoyed seeing the artifacts and appreciated the sacredness of the site. However, our guide made it not as informative or fun as it could’ve been. Our bus began with two tour guides, Lenny and Magdelleno, however we split into two groups at the cave as each guide can only lead 8 people. Unfortunately, our guide Lenny, was inattentive and went extremely fast both during the hiking portion and the wading through water/walking through the cave parts. We are athletes and it was even difficult for us to keep up. Further, at the entrance to the cave, we all were instructed to switch on our headlamps. Mine was blinking on and off, but Lenny said it should be fine. During the first section of the cave, my light was sporadically blinking on and off which in the pitch dark is dangerous and I felt very uncomfortable. Lenny finally gave me his headlamp, once I caught up to him and after I said that I could not safely walk with the defective light. Further, we had to swim through the entrance, and I cannot swim, so I was expecting a little more attention during that part, because I am still a bit nervous by deep water. He did come back and towed me into the cave, but only after I called to him to come back. I greatly wish we had been placed in the other guide’s group as he seemed very friendly and informative in the van on the way to the cave. Lenny barely said two words.
Great experience

This is the best excursion in Belize. You get up close with history and the Mayan culture. This is a physically demanding excursion. Make sure you take good water shoes, towel, change of clothes, and eat a big breakfast.
Get really wet, but have the best experience of a lifetime.
Mark_P, Mar 2024
From the beginning, everything was super duper fun. Our tour guide, Lenny, helped us a lot to be more observant of everything. The funnest part for me is when you wear only socks, and get to look at the pots, fireplaces , skeletons, and much more of the ancient people from a long, long time ago. Even though you end kinda soggy, it is so fun and my family is definitely coming back another time.
THIS IS A CAN’T MISS EXPERIENCE
Emma_P, Mar 2024
I’m glad we did this on its own and not in conjunction with any other tour. Super fun but you are tired by the end. Don’t forget socks, a towel, a snack, and dry change of clothes. Water shoes are a must have and wear quick drying clothing. Eric was the most knowledgeable tour guide and really made history come alive. You can’t bring water bottles into the cave so Eric was really great about reminding us to hydrate on the hike there. Top five coolest experiences of my life. This is a bucket list adventure.
Amazing educational time!
Sophie_G, Mar 2024
Junior was a great tour guide and the caves were a cannot miss adventure! I would recommend it to anyone. It did require some physical fitness and was not for the faint of heart! But we felt very safe all the way through.
ATM tour with Hugh is incredibly fun
Yueran_M, Mar 2024
The tour is amazing. It’s both fun and educational. Hugh is a wonderful guide, charismatic and professional. He explained Mayan culture and history thoroughly and scientifically. The only issue with Mayawalks is that they charged extra for transportation to lodges outside San Ignacio town. They told us via email that pickup and drop off would be 40 USD in total—in the end we only needed drop off and the office tried to charge us 40 per person.
Amazing

This was the greatest experience, 10/10 would recommend! Our tour guide Eric “the Red” was spectacular and made our experience so memorable and special even though he was feeling under the weather.
Wonderful!

Must do cave when in San Igancio! Will recommend this company(MayaWalks) given the safety. We saw multiple other companies with no life vests on! The guides were knowledgeable, fun! Amazing experience. The cave feels like an Indiana Jones movie!
Wonderful Experience
Katherine_J, Mar 2024
What a wonderful experience! Juan Carlos was very knowledgeable about Mayan history as well as plants and their medicinal uses. Being in the big cavern was incredible as the cave structures were on a much bigger scale than I’ve seen before but it was the Mayan artifacts and the stories about the Mayans that made the tour meaningful.
Excellent!
angie_c, Mar 2024
A must do while in Belize! Had a great tour guide (Junior).he was very knowledgeable along the walk to the cave and in the cave. There were some challenging moments but our guide was excellent on explaining where to step and hold. Great adventure!

Hugh was a great guide and provided wonderful commentary and historical context throughout the tour while ensuring the safety of the entire group. Mike did a great job with the drive as well.
Once in a lifetime!

It was a once in a lifetime experience. Our guide Junior was very personable and knowledgeable. He handled a group of 8 including 2 kids like a pro.
Best excision we have ever done!
Leah_D, Feb 2024
Our group of 6 was really nervous about this excursion. Fitting through tight spaces and climbing rocks in an unknown area was a little intimidating. We were all blown away! We loved it! We range in levels of fitness and size. We all agreed that this was by far the best excursion we have ever done. Eric was the best guide! He was knowledgeable and funny. He and Juan were amazing! The staff at Maya Walk were top notch!

Our tour guide (Hugh) was incredibly knowledgeable and made sure we understood the history and significance of the site.
Not your grandmas tour.
Haley_M, Feb 2024
Our tour guide Jaun Carlos made the trip not only informational and entertaining but also safe. This was an adventurous tour full of new experiences. If your guide offers you a life jacket WEAR IT. You will cross a river 3 times before entering waist high water into the cave. There were times we could not touch the bottom as well. We hiked, swam and waded through water .2 miles into the cave to see Mayan artificacts and human remains. We learned so much about the Mayan culture and rituals. So very interesting! It was raining the day we went. Flash flood quickly made the water rise in the cave. Jaun Carlos was very professional and got us all out safely. Listen to your guide and wear the safety gear. If they don’t provide it don’t go!
